Lowering the gaze;

Hassaan ibn Abu Banaan went out one day and when he returned his wife said: “How many attractive women did you see today?” He replied: “I swear by Allaah, I did not look to anything other than my thumb from the time I left until I came back.”

Via Sh. Munajjid (حفظه الله)
"No Salaat (prayer) is more heavy (harder) for the hypocrites than the Fajr and the ‘Ishaa prayers..." (1)

He (ﷺ) also said, ”The best prayer with Allaah is Fajr on Friday in congregation." (2)

The impact of illness:

“In their hearts is disease.” [2:10] Ibn Habeerah said: “The sick person finds taste to be contrary to what the item actually tastes like; he finds the sour as sweet, and the sweet as bitter. He also sees the truth as falsehood and the falsehood as truth.”

- Sh. Munajjid (حفظه الله)
Let your heart be at peace.

Abū Dharr al-Ghifarī (رضي الله عنه) Narrated:

‘[The Prophet (ﷺ) conveyed that Allah says:]

❝O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and all humankind and all of the Jinn were to stand on one plain and beseech Me and I were to confer upon each what he asked, it would not, in any way, cause diminish Me (My Treasures), just like the ocean is not diminished by the dipping of a needle in it.❞'

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Verily, Allah, The Most High, has prescribed the obligatory deeds, so do not neglect them. He had set the limits, so do not go beyond them. He has forbidden some things, so do not violate them. And He has been silent about some things, out of mercy upon you and not out of forgetfulness, so do not go looking for them."

[al-Daraqutni, Hasan]
The crescent for Dhul-Ḥijjah has not been sighted in Saudi Arabia.

Hence, tomorrow is the 30th of Dhul-Qaʿdah. The day of ʿArafah will be next Sunday (September 11) and ʿĪd will be Monday (September 12).

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (‎رحمه الله) said:

“The first 10 days of Dhul-Ḥijjah are better and more virtous than the 10 days of Ramaḍān and the last 10 nights of Ramaḍān are better and more virtous than the 10 nights of Dhul-Ḥijjah.”

[Majmū al-Fatāwā 25/154]
Ibn ‘Abbaas (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?"

He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing."

[Reported by al-Bukhaari, 2/457]
Fasting the first nine days of Thul-Hijjah:

Fasting the first nine days of Thul-Hijjah is a recommended matter. If one fasts these days, then he would be performing the best deeds as the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said.

[Ibn 'Uthaymeen (‎رحمه الله)]

Via Sh. Munajjid (حفظه الله).
“The Muslim should make sure that he does not miss any of these important occasion, because time is passing quickly.

Let him prepare himself by doing good deeds which will bring him reward when he is most in need of it, for no matter how much reward he earns, he will find it is less than he needs; the time of departure is at hand, the journey is frightening, delusions are widespread, and the road is long, but Allaah is ever watchful, and to Him will we return and render account. As the Qur’aan says (interpretation of the meaning):

‘So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it,

And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it.’

[al-Zalzalah 99:7-8]

There is much to be gained, so make the most of the opportunity afforded by these invaluable and irreplaceable ten days.

Hasten to do good works, before death strikes, before one can regret one’s negligence and failure to act, before one is asked to return to a place where no prayers will be answered, before death intervenes between the hopeful one and the things he hopes for, before you are trapped with your deeds in the grave.

O you whose hard heart is as dark as the night, is it not time that your heart was filled with light and became soft?

Expose yourself to the gentle breeze of your Lord’s mercy during these ten days, for Allaah will cause this breeze to touch whomever He wills, and whoever is touched by it will be happy on the Day of Judgement.”

- Sh. Muhammad al-Munajjid (حفظه الله).
Make sure you fast tomorrow!

Tomorrow (Sunday, 11th of September) is the day of `Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah).

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Fasting on the Day of `Arafah, I anticipate from Allaah, expiates for the sins of the previous year and the one coming.”

Meaning, the sins of the one who fasts for two years; the scholars said it refers to minor sins. If there are no minor sins, it is hoped that the major sins are lessened, and if there are no sins at all, one’s levels are raised.

(An-Nawawi 50-51/8)
The Greatest Day of The Year:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

"There is no day on which Allah sets free more slaves from Hell than He does on the Day of 'Arafah." (1)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Allah expresses His pride to His angels at the time of ‘Ishaa’ on the Day of ‘Arafah, about the people of ‘Arafah. He says, ‘Look at My slaves who have come unkempt and dusty.’” (2)

-

The sun does not rise on any day better than the day of ʿArafah, nor does it set on any night better than the night of Qadr. Duʿā’ in them is among the best of deeds and the most likely of them to be accepted and answered.

لا تشرق شمس على يوم أفضل من يوم عرفة، ولا تغرب لليلة أفضل من ليلة القدر، والدعاء فيهما من أفضل الأعمال، وأقربها قبولاً وإجابة

[Sh. Abdul Aziz al-Tarefe]

Day of `Arafah by Imām an-Nawawī (‎رحمه الله):

❝This is the best day in the year for supplicating, thus it befits a person to fully devote his efforts in making Dhikr, Du'ā' and reciting the Qur'ān; and he should supplicate with the different kinds of Du'ās and read the different kinds of Dhikr.

He should supplicate for himself, his parents, relatives, Mashāyikh, companions, friends, loved ones and any one else who was good to him as well as all the Muslims. And let him be fully cautious from falling short in any of these as this day cannot be made up.❞

[كتاب الأذكار للنووي طبعة دار المنهاج ص ٣٣٣]
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (‎رحمه الله):

“The days of Eid are days of thankfulness, seeking forgiveness and pardoning others. ”

Wolves In Sheeps Clothing

It is reported that Abūl-ʿĀliyah said:

There will come upon the people a time when their hearts will be derelict of the Qurān; they will find neither sweetness nor pleasure by it.

If they fall short of doing what they have been commanded to do, they will say: Allāh is most forgiving, merciful (He will forgive us), and if they do what they have been forbidden from doing, they will say: we will be forgiven, we haven’t committed any shirk with Allāh.

Their affairs will all be based on [false] hope, having no truth and sincerity with it. They will wear the skins of lambs over hearts of wolves. The best of them in his religion will be someone who compromises.

[Imām Aḥmad, Al-Zuhd article 1741]
