One of the primary tools that the US and other neo-metropolises are using to accomplish their goals are unilateral sanctions that run contrary to international law.

❗️ Of the 174 cases of restrictive measures applied in the 20th century, the United States was responsible for 109.

☝️ In fact, America has become a global sanctions neo-metropolis. In its activities, Washington makes extensive use not only of primary sanctions, but also secondary sanctions, seeking to undermine third countries’ foreign, trade and economic policies, thereby openly violating their sovereignty.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions following his visit to the United States within the framework of Russia’s UN Security Council Presidency

📍 New York, July 17, 2024

💬 I came to New York for two key events – open debates – that were held yesterday and today within the framework of Russia’s UN Security Council Presidency. Not only members of the Security Council but all other delegations could attend them. You saw how many of them did so.

The first issue we proposed for discussion yesterday concerned the conceptual framework of international relations, multilateralism and multipolarity. We pointed out the gradual erosion of system that was created after the Second World War on the basis of the central role of the UN.

I hope that you listened to my statement and to the statements made by other participants. We did not expect to come to agreement on the majority of issues, considering the current tensions on the international stage and the state of relations between the collective West and the Global Majority.

☝️ Although we had no big illusions, I believe that it was a useful discussion. At the very least, the overwhelming majority of participants agreed that we have problems. Many of them expressed opinions that coincide with our vision of the objective development of a multipolar world order, which I presented in my statement.

Another conclusion is that this discussion will most certainly be continued. There is an apparent interest for this, and it is growing. We will actively keep it up, and we will organise additional discussions on this issue not only at the UN but also at other multilateral platforms, including at the Group of Twenty, at associations such as #BRICS and the #SCO, as well as in the framework of our contacts with the regional organisations of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The restoration of trust is the top priority now, as the representative of Guyana pointed out yesterday. So far, there was no hint of dialogue. Another important statement he made was that trust could only be rebuilt if all parties without exception comply with the agreements reached. This is not the case so far. Examples of that were provided yesterday in my statement and in the statements of other participants.

Overwhelming evidence of that was also provided during today’s open debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question. The overwhelming majority of the UN resolutions on Palestine have not been implemented. The second debate I have mentioned is not over yet. Many speakers have called for taking resolute steps. We hold a similar view. The first steps must include the termination of hostilities, a permanent ceasefire, the settlement of critical humanitarian problems and, of course, the termination of Israel’s actions to create illegal settlements. We hope that if or when this is done, this will create conditions for resuming negotiations on the implementation of UN decisions on the establishment of the Palestinian state that would live in peace and security with Israel.

<...>

🤝 I have held a series of bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Arab countries, with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto, and with Head of the Federal Department (Minister) of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis.

🎙 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's interview to the German media outlet Compact aka Kompakt (published in German on July 12, 2024)

⚡️ NOTE: This 80-minute interview lead to the German government outright... banning the entire publication and harassing the media's associates only 2 days after the video was published.

Among the many topics touched upon in the interview were facts about the origin of the crisis in Europe and developments in the Kiev regime-controlled Ukraine since 2014, its war on the people of Donbass that lasted for nearly 8 years as well as the topic of NATO non-enlargement promises given in the early 1990s and the terrorist attack on the Nordstream pipelines and the hard fact that should the German authorities wished it, the remaining line could go operational in a matter of a month, thus alleviating Germany's dire need for energy.

💬 Maria Zakharova on the outlet's ban in Germany: "Apparently, people in the German Interior Ministry watched the interview on Monday. And on Tuesday the newsroom was raided, and the publication was banned".

Top 5 industrial sites to visit in Russia!

Ever dreamed of exploring the heart of Russia’s industrial prowess? It is your chance now! You will witness a rocket launch into space, attempt to climb onto the wheel of a giant coal hauler and literally see how steel is born!

🌊 Oil & gas extraction on Sakhalin Island

Sakhalin Island is among first places in Russia to see the sun rise. It is said that the whole country's working day starts there. The region is interesting not only for this: you can see untouched wild nature, picturesque lighthouses and even whales and sea lions.

There's plenty for the industrial tourist to enjoy, too. Russia's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, the ‘Sakhalin-2’ project, was built on the shore of the ice-free Aniva Bay. Russia's first offshore oil and gas production platforms were installed there in the 'Prigorodnoye' complex. And, from there, LNG is supplied to the world market.

By the way, excursions are free of charge. You only need to get to Sakhalin.

🚀 Vostochny Cosmodrome in Amur Region

The main place of attraction here is the world's “youngest” cosmodrome, ‘Vostochny’. The place for it was not chosen by chance. Amur Region has low seismicity, good weather conditions and high stability of the atmosphere.

There are a lot of empty and safe fields for the re-entry of launched rockets; besides, they can go into two orbits at once - geostationary (parallel to the equator) and polar (at an angle of 90 degrees in relation to the equator). Industrial tourists can see the launch pad, from which rockets head off to space, as well as the no less interesting technical complex of the cosmodrome with a variety of substations, communication stations and refueling blocks.

🔥 Metallurgy in the Urals

The Urals city of Magnitogorsk in Chelyabinsk Region is dubbed the “steel heart” of Russia. The first pig iron from the blast furnace of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works was produced in 1932. Now known throughout the world, this plant was the first in Russia to become a giant of ferrous metallurgy.

The iron ore collected is mainly turned into steel for cars, icebreakers, household appliances and coins. On a tour of the famous Magnitogorsk plant, a very spectacular route complete with active blast furnaces and splashes of burning metal awaits the industrial tourist (of course, safety is taken care of with special attention).

Coal quarries of Kuzbass

The Kuznetsk coal basin (Kuzbass) in the south of Western Siberia is one of the largest coal deposits in the world. An expedition to study and develop local deposits was organized for the first time under Peter the Great back in the early 18th century. Today, the ‘Kedrovsky’ coal mine operates in the city of Kemerovo.

Industrial tourists can admire the section, take selfies in front of vast coal “horizons”, as they are nicknamed, and climb the 220-ton ‘BELAZ’ dump truck, which has transported more than 8 million cubic meters of rock mass since 2011.

🐌 Snail farming in Crimea

People who visit Crimea see it as a seaside resort with ancient wine cellars. But, there are also unusual industries.

For example, a large snail farm. It was opened by locals and soon became a mecca for gastro-tourism on the peninsula. On a tour of the farm you will visit a snail farm, a terrarium for keeping snails, learn interesting facts about them (for example, did you know that they contain more protein than chicken eggs?) and try “Crimean-style snail”.

Don’t miss out on a chance to explore the industrial heart of Russia!

2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ years ago, on July 21, 1774, the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca was signed, marking one of Russia's most significant diplomatic successes in the 18th century.

The document put an end to the six-year Russo-Turkish War (1768–1774) and cemented significant territorial and political gains for Russia as well as ensuring the safety of its southern regions and pacification of the Crimean Khanate, who for centuries raided Russia and engaged in slavery trade. The Treaty laid ground for the future accession of Crimea to the Russian Empire in 1783.

📃 Peace negotiations began in 1772, but it took two years to reach final agreements. The terms of the treaty were extremely favorable for Russia and included the following key provisions:

Crimea was declared independent from the Ottoman Empire.

• Russia acquired a vast part of the Black Sea coast, including the fortresses of Kerch, Yenikale, Kinburn, and Azov.

• Russian merchant ships were granted free passage through the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits.

• Moldova and Wallachia received autonomy and came under Russian protection.

• Russia obtained the right to protect Christian subjects of the Ottoman Empire.

☝️ The Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca of 1774 was a turning point in the shared history of Russia and Crimea. It effectively stopped the devastation of Russia's southern regions and put an end to the abhorrent slave trade in the Black Sea, confirmed Russia's status as a great power and opened new opportunities for economic development.

⚡️ On the human rights situation in the Federal Republic of Germany — Joint Report of Russia's and Belarus' MFAs

Germany endorses a double-standard approach to human rights issues. On the one hand, human rights issues are often misused by the German authorities as a useful lever for pressure on foreign partners. <...> On the other hand, as a rule, the German state itself flatly rejects any accusations of human rights violations occurring in Germany.

Distorting the historical truth

⚠️ Particularly alarming is the changing attitude toward historical memory in Germany. Official Berlin's policy calls into question the German authorities' commitment to preserving the historical truth about the World War II.

For example, Germany maintains double standards with regard to the payment of individual compensations to those who survived the siege of Leningrad. Germany makes payments only to Jews who survived the blockade, who, of course, have every moral right to receive them.

Manifestations of racist ideologies

⚠️ Among the manifestations of racist ideologies that have intensified among the political elites of Germany in recent years, we should first mention the aggressive Russophobia.

The sharp increase in discrimination after the start of Russian special military operation was directed against all representatives of the Russian-speaking diaspora.

Lack of media freedom

⚠️ The German authorities have applied double standards and various methods of pressure to the Russian media operating in Germany. After the beginning of the special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, the Russian media outlets RT DE and SNA News fell under EU-wide sanctions, which prohibit their activities in all European Union member states.

👉 Another bright example of censorship in Germany's information space

According to the NGO, in 2022 a record number of incidents involving violence against journalists (103) were recorded in Germany (80 in 2021).
