OPINION PIECE: Did I read this correctly. The Gardai have ordered migrants evicted from Mount St and now camped nearby in a park to be gone before 8.30am due to the presence of a nearby school. Is this at last an admission of what everybody already knows, that migrant men from particularly North Africia and the Middle East pose a real and significant risk to children. Did the Gardai fear another Parnell Sq type attack. In fairness they probably wanted to step down the risk of anything happening as they would be in the firing line of peoples anger. So if it is not ok to camp in St Mary’s Rd in Ballsbridge why is it ok to be placed in Newtown, Roscrea, Ballina or in the dozens of small Irish towns that have been ruined and made unsafe by the presence of undocumented and unvetted male migrants. Mount St was a disgrace to any concept of humanitarianism but shoving the migrants somewhere else is just as inhumane. The correct solution is to deny entry, especially that over 80% are coming directly from the UK over our open border with Northern Ireland. The UK is a perfectly safe country as are the other European countries that the migrants have been trafficked through.

Another way forward has now emerged. The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has offered an opportunity for Ireland to join with the UK in the Rwanda scheme. This means that all illegal arrivals would be sent to Rwanda to have their application for asylum assessed. Failure means you are denied entry and that you can stay in Rwanda or make your own way back to your country of origin. The scheme has already been paid for by the UK who have given £120 million to Rwanda as ‘Hello’ money and recently topped up with another £20 million. As we share a common and open border with the UK this scheme has obvious merit. Italy has reached an agreement with Albania to outsource its asylum applications and other European countries are exploring this option including Sweden, Austria , Germany and Denmark. Are we going to be left behind yet again by the ‘woke’ politicking of our detached government and supportive opposition.

The sad reality is that neither our government nor fake opposition parties view migrant trafficking as a problem, even undesirable. Again and again various party apparatchiks have mumbled about international obligations and when challenged further by that small section of the media willing to to do, they simply walk away. But every community in Ireland knows about this national disaster, where the character of our nation has been changed without discussion, without agreement and without being subjected to the normal democratic processes, the checks and balances expected in a functioning democracy. So many safe towns have now been transformed into unsafe towns with the active participation of government anxious to impress the EU, the UN, every internationalist body except our own people.

There will be an opportunity to show our true feelings during the local and European elections. More importantly the general election must be held within one year. We can vote wisely and smartly by voting only for trustworthy independent candidates and not using our lower preferences that allow unpopular candidates with big party muscle behind them to climb up the count and get elected. Deprive them of transfer oxygen by voting only for those you want to represent you and don’t use the preferences. And of course if you vote for a well liked affable fellow who is in a party, remember you are voting for the party and all the pro immigration baggage and not the candidate.

But on Monday 6th May there will be another way of robustly letting government know the anger of the people. Citizens will be assembling in Newtown and at the Garden of Remembrance. Be at one or other. This is our chance to let the non governing government witness the commitment and the anger of the people mightily and emphatically with total determination.

A VITAL VISUAL REMINDER OF GARDA TACTICS FOR MONDAY'S PROTEST...

We released this video back in March following the massive protest that took place at the Garden Of Remembrance. So desperate was the state for negative headlines that the protesters wouldn't give them, Gardaí (instructed by Drew Harris) engaged in "kettling" tactics (entrapment).

Be watchful for these tactics. Stay with the main protest. Don't give them what they want. Film everything. Have your wits about you. Be mindful of those in black masks and balaclavas pretending to be one of you (but causing trouble in the process). Beware of those sent there to hide among you and antagonise peaceful protesters.

We have the country onside. Let's keep it that way. And lastly, watch this video for inspiration. To remind you, WE WILL RISE AND WE WILL WIN.

Please share to remind everyone else what to watch out for.

The Indo has interviewed several Palestinians who had been living in Jordan but are now claiming asylum in Ireland, suggesting this phenomenon is increasing.

Pictured is Mahmoud Al-Azab, the man I spotlighted three weeks back who told an English vlogger that he got into Ireland by first applying for an "ETA visa" to the UK. He'd been living in a village in Jordan for 16 years.

So they're not coming over the English channel in small boats and have nothing to do with French or EU policies. Here's the trick: He said this "ETA visa" prohibits him from claiming asylum in the UK.

Jordan was added to UK’s Electronic Travel Authorisation scheme on Feb 22nd. It costs £10 and is for visitors from various Arab countries who have good relations with the UK to facilitate short trips.

The scheme's factsheet also advises applicants: "The UK will not operate routine immigration controls on journeys from within the Common Travel Area, with no immigration controls whatsoever on the Ireland-Northern Ireland land border."

FYI: Article relating to Roscrea published today in Offaly Express/Midland Tribune*

Four months on from the awful events of January and still nothing resolved for the people of Roscrea.
The invasion of our country only increases, and, as polls have shown, the vast majority of the people are opposed to what is happening.

1/2 FYI: Offaly Express/ Midland Tribune Wednesday 8th May 2024

A newly formed local activist group in Roscrea are building momentum after emerging from the local community's response to the sudden closure of the Racket Hall Hotel in January.

Roscrea Community Action Group (RACG) were formed in the aftermath of the closure of the town's last functioning hotel, when it was repurposed to provide emergency accommodation for 160 people seeking international protection in Ireland.

Speaking to the Tribune this week, the group said they have identified several issues needing attention in Roscrea and plan to engage with government to advance the interests of people living and working in the heritage town.

PRO for the group, Roscrea woman Fiona Dunford, told the Tribune they identify as a “young, energised cross section of Roscrea residents ready to take on the development of Roscrea, by examining the existing needs of the town and actively work on each project to meet those needs.”

She said they want to set themselves apart from any “fractious groups currently visible in the town and are determined to prove their sole objective is to make Roscrea thrive again”.

The group meet on a weekly basis and have met with politicians including Tipperary Deputies Mattie McGrath (Ind), Alan Kelly (Lab), Michael Lowry (Ind) and Jackie Cahill (FF).

They have also met with Superintendent Ollie Baker and Inspector Andrew Lyons, travelled to Dáil Eireann to meet Deputies John Brady and Martin Browne (SF) and met with Government Departments, the Community Engagement Team and other stakeholders from different community groups in Roscrea.

They also work to keep issues in Roscrea in the media spotlight and have appeared on national media programmes including RTE's Upfront with Katie Hannon and a TV3 documentary by film makers 'Mind the Gap'.

They publish detailed minutes from their weekly meetings on their social media pages and encourage engagement from people in the community.

COMMUNITY HOTEL
Fiona Dunford said currently the priority question for the group is where is the community hotel model suggested for the former Pathé Hotel (Grant's/Damer Court) on Castle Street?

The proposal, which was first put forward by local Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Smith and party colleague, Deputy Jackie Cahill, received the backing of Minister Roderic O’Gorman.
“Across government parties there is a recognition of the value that the proposal for a community hotel model would represent to the people of Roscrea.

“The Government parties agree in principle to examine funding mechanisms that can be brought forward to support this proposal”, was Minister O'Gorman's opinion at the time the suggestion was first mooted.
RCAG met with Deputy Cahill and Cllr Smith on February 16th to discuss the closure of Racket Hall and asked for an update on their proposal by government.
Deputy Cahill and Cllr Smith outlined the the steps required to establish a community hotel model in Roscrea.

It will require an agreement from government to purchase the former hotel after an evaluation of the building by local authority.
The proposal requires the backing of Minister Heather Humphreys in relation to the renovation of the space and finally construction works to renovate the building.
Fiona Dunford said the RCAG group have attempted to contact Deputy Cahill and Cllr Smith several times since their February meeting for a further update, and were told the local elected representatives are “working closely” with Tánaiste, Micheál Martin to advance the proposal.

She said the group feel any developments related to the Castle Street premises “should be shared with the community”.
2/2 FUTURE PLANS
The group are also building a website. “It will provide a source of information and showcase all Roscrea has to offer. We have a wonderful town that needs footfall increased and by showcasing all our positives, including our wonderful tourist attractions, this in turn will contribute to the economic development of the town”, Fiona Dunford said.

“We're educating ourselves on the Town First Plan and engaging with the Town Team who are striving to make this wonderful vision a reality.
“RCAG also welcome the pre-election 'Meet The Candidates' event on May 20th in the Abbey Hall which will be hosted by RCDC, who are veterans in hosting this event and encourage the Roscrea people to support this event where you get to ask the tough questions”, she said.
RCAG founder member, James Gleeson, was also instrumental in establishing Roscrea's first Narcotics Anonymous group and has received the support and encouragement of all the members.

Roscrea Community Action Group welcome all input from local people and want to engage with local groups, businesses and people of all ages in the community. They can be reached online by email at roscreacommunityaction@ gmail.com or by messaging the Facebook page ‘Roscrea Community Action Group’.
