Concerns rise as Hong Kong implements a new law allowing enforcement of mainland Chinese court rulings, raising fears about erosion of the city's rule of law and judicial independence. Critics worry about the impact on Hong Kong's legal autonomy and international reputation.

"Unfairly conducted without a jury, the trial of the 47 activists undermines human rights. The active involvement of judges in questioning witnesses raises concerns about the fairness of the proceedings. The absence of a jury denies the defendants the right to a trial by their peers. This highlights the importance of an impartial and independent judicial system to safeguard human rights. The trial's lack of transparency and the judges' extensive intervention warrant scrutiny. The right to a fair trial must be upheld to ensure justice and protect fundamental freedoms. #47ActivistsTrial #UnfairTrial #NoJury #HumanRights #JudicialSystem"

Hong Kong Court Rejects Appeal

A Hong Kong court has rejected Woo Tsz-kin's appeal against his six-year prison sentence for attempting to seize a police officer's gun during a protest in 2019. The judges noted that Woo did not testify and there was no evidence supporting his arguments.

Woo was arrested alongside Chow Pak-kwan, who was shot by police during the protests, yet the court provided no evidence regarding this incident. Despite this, the judge convicted Woo, raising concerns about judicial fairness.

The judges denied Woo's request for a reduced sentence and will issue a written judgment later.
