For the first time in years Linux... lost a bit of market share on Steam. Seemingly, the growth of Steam Deck fanbase is no longer that significant and the transition from Windows to Linux for the average gamer isn't happening.

NVIDIA wasn't doing great on Linux for ages but recently they built a team to fix it and also gathered some people from the community. And several distros were doing fixes too.

Eventually, it worked out: the 5-30% gap in performance is no longer the thing. Even the first step already gave users up to +12% of gaming performance in the new Ubuntu 26.04. About 20% more and it will get the parity with Windows 🫠

Valve is making Proton on ARM64. It works significantly better than Winlator for Android and allows modern Linux compatible ARM devices to be used for gaming with much lower power consumption!

Unfortunately, early version has poor storage performance on SD cards, but Valve improved it drastically on Windows and Linux over the last few years. I'm sure they'll figure it out here as well.
