On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, U.S. Army General Christopher Donahue assumed command of Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) from U.S. Army General Darryl A. Williams during a ceremony in Izmir, Türkiye 🇹🇷. Military leaders from across the NATO Alliance, soldiers, diplomats, and distinguished members of the local community attended the event. U.S. Army General Christopher Cavoli, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe presided over the ceremony.

General Williams has served as the LANDCOM commander since August of 2022 and has provided exceptional leadership in an incredibly dynamic security environment and a period of transition. We are grateful for his four decades of military service!

General Donahue is no stranger to Europe, with his experience Commanding the 82nd Airborne Division and then 18th Airborne Corps as they reacted during the initial response to Russia's illegal further invasion of Ukraine in 2022. General Donahue brings a wealth of experience to this role, and we wish him the best of luck as he takes the helm.
