🇮🇶🇮🇷🇸🇾🇺🇸 To fully comprehend the gravity of the American response to strikes and attacks by fighters of the Ansarallah movement in Yemen, it is necessary to examine the situation in Syria and Iraq, where US military bases are frequently targeted by pro-Iranian forces.

📌 Since October 17, Shiite militias have targeted American military facilities more than 108 times. These facilities, numbering over ten units, have been attacked using drones, homemade rocket launchers, and ballistic missiles.

We have witnessed firsthand the US response to these attacks. While the airstrikes were more powerful in the face of greater damage, they did not critically impact the pro-Iranian groups in the region. In some instances, the Shiites killed several Americans, and in response, the US Armed Forces eliminated their adversaries. That was the extent of it.

Therefore, in the case of Yemen and specifically the Houthis, even a massive missile strike on Ansarallah targets will not significantly affect the capabilities of the Houthis. It will only provide a motive to retaliate against the coalition, setting off an endless cycle of "retaliation strikes."

🇮🇱🇮🇷🇸🇾 More and more information is emerging on the Internet about the possible target of the Israeli airstrike this morning in the Al-Mezze area of Damascus.

▪️ According to reports, the raid resulted in the death of Hojatullah Omidzadeh, the intelligence chief of the Al-Quds special forces of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria. The Washington Post recently identified him as responsible for organizing attacks on American targets in Syria.

▪️ Another casualty was Golyam Moharram, an intelligence officer and deputy to Khojatullah Omidzadeh. There are also reports of the deaths of several other Iranians, but information about their names and positions is unclear and conflicting, and the circulated photographs actually belong to other individuals.

This is the third Israeli attack in the past month targeting high-ranking officials in neighboring states. In late December 2023, Iranian IRGC General Razi Mousavi was killed in Damascus, and on January 3, Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy head of the Hamas Politburo, was killed in Beirut, Lebanon.

The question now is how Iran will respond to this incident. There are several options, ranging from raids on ships in the Red Sea to ballistic strikes on American targets in Iraq and Syria.

🇮🇶🇮🇷🇸🇾🇺🇸 About the new phase of the struggle of the "Islamic resistance"

A new round of confrontation between the US Armed Forces and pro-Iranian groups has occurred in Syria and Iraq.

▪️ Last evening, units of Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada attacked the Conoco base in the Syrian Trans-Euphrates region (Deir ez-Zor province).

▪️ In response, several American MQ-9A Reaper and MQ-1C drones, taking off from the Al-Salem airbase in Kuwait, headed towards the Al-Bukamal-Al-Qaim border crossing in Al-Anbar province and Baghdad.

▪️ One strike hit a Shiite militia base in Jurf al-Sahar, south of the Iraqi capital. Several people died.

▪️ Two UAVs, bypassing Rusafa, flew to Al-Sikka in the Al-Qaim district: an aerial bomb hit pro-Iranian forces.

📌This operation is not extraordinary: it is a typical exchange of blows between the conflicting parties. The reaction from the proxy was predictable: the US military base Conoco was fired upon again.

❗️However, official representatives of the Shiite group have announced that the second phase of operations is beginning, which will include attacks on Israel's port infrastructure.

The distance from the traditional areas where pro-Iranian forces are present to Haifa is about 600 km and a little more to Eilat. With the presence of Iranian weapons, they can easily reach these targets, which will create additional problems for the ultra-Orthodox rule in Israel.

🇮🇷 🇷🇺 🇸🇾 According to Syrian sources, the power went out completely in Deir ez-Zor after the American attacks. It seems that the attacks damaged power lines and other infrastructure.

It's true, the residents of Syria are not particularly surprised by this. With the country facing a severe energy crisis, having stable electricity in homes is now considered a luxury. In Deir ez-Zor, there is only night lighting in a couple of streets, excluding the Iranian quarter.

So, the residents of remote Syrian cities have been accustomed to the absence of a centralized energy supply for quite some time now.

No Iranian base or advisors targeted by US strikes in Iraq, Syria: Diplomat

🔹Iran's Ambassador to Damascus Hossein Akbari says no Iranian bases or military advisors have been targeted in deadly strikes by the US occupation forces on a number of sites in Iraq and Syria.

🇮🇱🇸🇾 Overnight, the Israeli Air Force carried out another strike on Syria, using airspace over the Mediterranean Sea and Lebanese Tripoli. This particular strike targeted Homs: and resulted in the collapse of a building in the Al-Hamra area, where at least five people were killed.

According to Israeli media, the attack targeted pro-Iranian forces, while pro-government sources claim that only civilians were affected.

Some reports also indicate that Syrian air defense positions fired at the planes, but there is currently no concrete evidence of this. Additionally, several fires were observed in the vicinity of the border town of El Quseir.

📌 These attacks, even if they continue with the same intensity, are unlikely to cause significant damage to Iran's infrastructure and forces in Syria. However, they also serve another purpose - to constantly maintain tension and unite the Israeli public.

This is particularly important during negotiations with Hamas for the release of captured hostages, which may lead to solutions that are not widely popular among the Israeli population.

🇮🇷🇸🇾🇺🇸 The commander of the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, stated that the Kurds are in need of air defense systems due to attacks by pro-Iranian forces on American bases. To ensure their protection, they have requested these systems from the United States.

📌 The reason behind the SDF's request for air defense systems may seem doubtful. It is worth considering that they may not receive them, as there has been a long-standing shortage of such weapons due to the conflict in Ukraine.

Furthermore, pro-Iranian groups have previously attacked American bases, but the Kurds did not consider defense until now. This situation appears more like a request for help against Turkey, rather than Iranian proxies.

There has been ongoing speculation about the Kurds' plans to join forces and establish autonomy under US support. The Turks, who have a vested interest in maintaining their presence in Syria and Iraq, will undoubtedly try to prevent this.

The constant presence of Turkish drones, causing trouble for the Kurds, makes their need for protection evident. This seems more logical than defense against the Shiites.

The statement that the SDF can respond to attacks by pro-Iranian groups is rather amusing. The Kurds struggle to handle rebellious Arab tribes within their own territory, let alone Iran's proxies.

❗️🇮🇶🇸🇾🇺🇸 Tonight, the group known as the "Islamic Resistance in Syria and Iraq," along with factions of the Iraqi militia "Al-Hashd al-Shaabi" (which is mainly composed of pro-Iranian forces), may initiate a new phase of the war against the American contingent in the Middle East.

According to reports, following the murder of Kataib Hezbollah commander Abu Bakr al-Saadi, members of the Iranian forces have been calling for revenge. As a result, the "axis of resistance" is expected to escalate the conflict this weekend.

The exact scale of the upcoming actions is unknown, but based on past experiences, it is likely that there will be widespread launches of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles targeting various locations. There may also be attempts to retaliate and replicate the successful strikes on Tower-22, which is situated on the border of Syria and Jordan.

While it is unlikely that there will be a direct assault on American military bases, tensions may rise in the Green Zone near the embassy in Baghdad.

🇸🇾🇹🇷 From Friday to Sunday, the Turks resumed rocket attacks in northern Iraq. During the three days of the active operation, they carried out more than 30 targeted strikes using various types of weapons.

As part of the attack, F-16C/D fighters from Batman and Diyarbakir air bases, Akıncı and Anka-S drones from Batman and Van, as well as T129 Atak attack helicopters from Yuksekov were involved.

The targets were PKK facilities in the Zap and Metina regions. They hit strongholds in the mountains, underground PKK shelters, and several vehicles with Kurds inside.

❗️The Turkish operation has been extremely ineffective, but that is not important to Turkey. The Turkish leadership is primarily focused on PR for its weapons and demonstrating its fight against terrorism.

It is worth noting that Turkish troops regularly accompany the operation in Iraq with a massive information attack directed against Kurdish forces in order to increase their rating in the eyes of the population, especially amid the growing inflation in the country.

▶️ Humanitarian initiatives in Ramadan bring Syrians together in hardships

Ibrahim Wahdi reports from Damascus.

🇮🇱🇮🇷🇸🇾 The Internet is abuzz with discussions about the Israeli Air Force strike on the western outskirts of Damascus today. Iranian media has confirmed that among the casualties was Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi (pictured), from the Al-Quds Force, who was responsible for IRGC operations in Syria and Lebanon.

Israeli media depict Zahedi as a crucial IRGC general who orchestrated all attacks on Israel through Iranian-controlled forces. These assertions are not unfounded, as he was in charge of “Department 2000,” which was engaged in operations in the Levant.

Furthermore, Mohammad Reza Zahedi has become the highest-ranking IRGC general to be killed by Israeli forces. This event marks the most significant loss for Iran since the death of commander-in-chief Qassem Soleimani in a US drone attack in January 2020.

❗️The question on most observers' minds is what triggered such a significant strike. One theory suggests that this was in retaliation to a nighttime drone attack on a naval base in Eilat. However, that strike was relatively minor and had far fewer consequences compared to the incident in Damascus.

🔻The events in the Syrian capital foreshadow a potential escalation in the Middle East. The primary concern currently is how Iran will retaliate to the attack. Possible responses include activating pro-Iranian proxies, who have only issued threats in recent weeks, and intensifying Hezbollah’s strikes on northern Israel.

Nonetheless, a direct confrontation between Iran and Israel is not anticipated, despite some representatives of the ultra-Orthodox government's inclination towards it. The most advantageous scenario for Iran is to maintain the status quo while indirectly supporting Israel’s adversaries.

🇮🇱🇮🇷🇸🇾 Oh, these Israeli media. The publication Maariv, citing some sources, reports that Syrian authorities aim to remove Iranian influence, while Iranians suspect Syrian involvement in the elimination of high-ranking IRGC members.

📌 It’s quite amusing to come across such claims. Anyone well-informed about the events in Syria understands that the current situation for the Syrian people remains challenging, and fracturing alliances poses a significant risk to the entire nation.

Despite the reestablishment of diplomatic ties with the Arab world, Syrians have yet to experience substantial improvements. Meanwhile, Iranians continue to offer support to Syria, including financial aid.

Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian met with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Miqdad to discuss Israeli airstrikes and the inauguration of a new Iranian consulate in the capital.

❗️Therefore, articles from Israeli sources like these aim to sow discord in stable inter-country relations and shift focus away from the actual perpetrators of attacks on Iranian military leaders.

❗️🌍🎞 The escalation of the situation in the Middle East: highlights of the week April 5 - 11, 2024

▪️
In the Red Sea region, Ansar Allah fighters fired another missile at coalition ships. The munition was intercepted on approach by air defense.

▪️In turn, the anti-Houthi coalition air force struck the al Mandhar neighborhood in al Hudaydah province. The strikes hit an air defense unit and a ground observation station. Civilians were also injured.

▪️A few days later, coalition forces again bombed Houthi positions. A series of explosions were recorded near al Hudaydah International Airport and the Al Jabbana area, where an air defense base is located.

▪️In Syria, the Israelis used artillery and air strikes to attack Syrian Armed Forces facilities in Daraa province. The strikes were in response to increasing attacks by pro-Iranian forces from the republic's territory.

▪️Meanwhile, Iranian-backed proxies fired a missile at a US Army base in Deir ez-Zor. The Conoco oil refinery area, which is regularly attacked, came under fire.

▪️On the Greater Idlib fronts, the Syrian Armed Forces continued to attack militant targets using FPV drones. The Syrian government forces targeted the facilities of the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham terrorist organization.

▪️In Idlib itself, daily demonstrations against Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham and its security services continued. Residents of the province demanded the ouster of the group's leader, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, and the release of prisoners.

🇮🇱 🇮🇷🇸🇾

When discussing potential Israeli responses to the Iranian raid, we previously mentioned that the IDF has been consistently conducting strikes on Syria for six months. These strikes have focused on disabling the republic’s air defense systems.

- The scale of these raids is evident in the numbers: out of 51 attacks since October 7, 2023, 17 targeted air defense systems, radars, and electronic warfare equipment. Half of the strikes are directly confirmed by objective control footage, while the others are supported by indirect evidence, such as obituaries on social networks.

- Not all destroyed targets were operational; some old launchers and radar stations had long been inactive. Nevertheless, the Syrian air defense, weakened by 13 years of civil war and a lack of new supplies, has suffered losses in existing systems and, more significantly, in personnel.

- Some strikes also targeted the airports of Damascus and Aleppo. Although these objects were not destroyed (nor the supplies from Iran halted), the raids did impede the arrival of cargo planes from the Islamic Republic. This hindered the potential quick and discreet delivery of Iranian air defense systems and ammunition.

❗️What do the Israelis achieve by striking the already worn-out Syrian air defense system? Primarily, this action further eases attacks on Iranian-backed targets not only near Damascus but also in more distant provinces.

Simultaneously, periodic strikes on Syrian soil, albeit limited, influence public sentiment, particularly given the country's extremely challenging economic circumstances. This influence could serve as leverage over Iran's stance in Syria.

🇮🇱🇮🇷🇸🇾 On the "limited" response of Israel to Iranian strikes

During the night of April 18-19, Israel carried out a retaliatory strike against Iran, which turned out to be asymmetric, although not as much as Israelis and many analysts expected. Some media reported "missile strikes" and "explosions" in the area of the Isfahan airport.

Later, official Iranian sources reported the destruction of several small drones by air defense forces. Three objects were detected and intercepted around 4:00 local time. At the same time, The New York Times, citing its own sources, writes about damage to an Iranian Air Force base near Isfahan, while the Iranian authorities say there was no damage, which is not surprising.

We have already said that we consider a full-scale Israeli response to Iran to be unlikely. In the current realities (especially given the general inadequacy of the ultra-Orthodox leadership), this, of course, is possible. But here the situation is like in a store: "I want a Ferrari, but I don't have enough money." In the case of Israel, we are talking about resources (which include money, connections, political relations, and the attitude of its own population).

Apparently, the Israelis decided to go the path of limited use of force, not taking direct responsibility. Everyone understands everything, but does not admit it: minimum expenditure of resources, but maximum emphasis on indirect propaganda (instead of investing in a real result). And this propaganda is aimed at the domestic audience.

As a result, the Israelis used short-range drones (as the Iranians claimed, even from Iranian territory) for limited strikes, depleting Iranian air defenses: it resembles the approach of Ukrainian terrorists (like to like). And they presented it in the traditional Israeli style.

But this is unlikely to be the end of it: the Israeli ultra-Orthodox elite needs a conflict, needs a war in order to silence its own population. Therefore, further escalation will follow, but where and how exactly - this is still a question.

We still bet on Syria for objective reasons. Moreover, in the early morning, unknown aircraft attacked several targets on the territory of the Arab Republic. According to preliminary data, the At-Tanf airfield, an agricultural airport near the city of Izra, as well as radar positions of air defense between Izra and the neighboring city of Karfa were subjected to strikes. But still, we are talking about ultra-Orthodox people who behave like cave savages with clubs. And therefore, new strikes on Iran are also possible.

Syrian president Bashar Assad's statement about not recognizing the existence of an "Israeli people" on this land is the essence of our struggle as natoves with colonialism.

The man is putting his finger on the actual wound, saying there is essentially no such people. It is a matter of a diaspora who occupied the land and evicted the natives.

Show me one other Arab leader who can say such a thing!

🇮🇱🇸🇾🇺🇸 Last night, the U.S. Air Force allegedly attacked targets in Syria: government forces and Iran-backed formations were bombed near Al-Bu Kamal in Deir ez-Zor province.

Specifically, fighter jets struck targets in the areas of the villages of As-Sukkariyah and Al-Hamdan. Additionally, a drone struck a truck transporting weapons in the village of Ashair. Colleagues from Sabereen News confirmed that a fighter from the Iraqi group "Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada" named Abdel Razzaq Anoun al-Safi was killed.

🔻It is still unclear who is responsible for this attack: this territory is an area of interest for both Israel and the U.S. Confusion is also caused by reports in Western media denying American involvement. At the same time, the Israelis traditionally do not report on their attacks on the Arab republic.

Notably, while the strikes on pro-Iranian proxies on the ground were taking place, clashes were also occurring between the U.S.-backed Kurdish "Syrian Democratic Forces" and the Syrian Arab Army. However, neither these skirmishes nor the American/Israeli strikes portend a serious escalation.
