🇵🇸 Al Mezan Center for Human Rights - Initial reporting on the ongoing Israeli retaliatory attacks on Gaza: (Reporting Period, 7-28 October 2023) based on preliminary documentation

#AlHaq, #AlMezan Center for Human Rights and Palestinian Centre for Human Rights have concluded the first official initial reporting covering the period up to and including 7-28 October 2023. The report covers the first phase of hostilities immediately preceding the ground invasion. Since 7 October 2023, Israeli forces have been conducting a large-scale and unprecedented military offensive from the air, land, and sea, targeting civilians and civilian objects, and killing and injuring thousands of Palestinians. Horrific mass killings have been committed against Palestinians in Gaza’s hospitals, churches and shelters. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, and 70 percent of the population have been displaced from their homes. Further, the Israeli authorities have cut off electricity, food, water, and fuel from #Gaza’s population.

Since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October, several rights groups have initiated legal proceedings regarding arms exports to Israel.

On Nov. 6, Palestinian human rights organizations, #AlHaq, #AlMezan Center for Human Rights, and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (#PCHR) launched legal action in the Federal Court of Australia to access all arms export permits that have been granted to Israel since Oct.7.

🇵🇸Urgent action is needed to stop the forced displacement and transfer of Palestinians within Gaza and prevent mass deportation to Egypt | #AlMezan

We, the undersigned organizations, raise serious alarm regarding the ongoing forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza as part of the Israeli leadership’s stated #intent to commit #genocide. Omer Bartov, one of the top scholars on holocaust and genocide studies warned that forced displacement and #EthnicCleansing usually precede genocide.

36 UN independent experts have pointed to forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza as one of the main indicators for the “genocide in the making” in Gaza.A leading international law scholar on the crime of genocide stated in a legal opinion that indeed there is a serious risk Israel is committing the crime of genocide  against the Palestinian population in Gaza.
Another 880 international scholars, #UN experts, as well as Palestinian human rights organizations have also warned of an unfolding genocide in #Gaza
