๐ต๐ธ Interrogations, Arrests, and Indictments of Palestinian Citizens of Israel since 7 October - Adalah โ
Since 7 October 2023, Palestinian citizens of Israel have faced political persecution and a severe crackdown on their freedom of expression and assembly. The repression of speech is the result of widespread and coordinated efforts between government offices, Israeli institutions, and far-right groups, all targeting Palestinian citizens and those who dare to express dissent against the militaryโs retaliatory attacks on Gaza.
Adalah's legal team cooperates with the High Follow-up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel and its Emergency Committee, as well as with lawyers, popular committees and partner NGOs in many towns and villages to monitor and document rights violations and to represent Palestinian citizens of Israel facing these criminal charges.

It is with great urgency that we, the undersigned Palestinian civil society organisations, address this letter to the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu and the Special Advisor on the Responsibility to Protect, George Okoth-Obbo, with regards to Israelโs actions in the occupied Palestinian territory, including and especially in the Gaza Strip. We alarmingly take note of the statement of Ms Nderitu issued on 15 October 2023, as further elaborated below, which has not alerted the international community to the risk of genocide against the Palestinian people

๐ต๐ธ Report / Israel: Starvation Used as Weapon of War in Gaza | HRWโ
International humanitarian law, or the laws of war, prohibits the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court provides that intentionally starving civilians by โdepriving them of objects indispensable to their survival, including willfully impeding relief suppliesโ is a war crime. Criminal intent does not require the attackerโs admission but can also be inferred from the totality of the circumstances of the military campaign.
In addition, Israelโs continuing blockade of Gaza, as well as its more than 16-year closure, amounts to collective punishment of the civilian population, a war crime. As the occupying power in Gaza under the Fourth Geneva Convention, Israel has the duty to ensure that the civilian population gets food and medical supplies.

๐ต๐ธ Meta: Systemic Censorship of Palestine Content | Human Rights Watch โ
Metaโs content moderation policies and systems have increasingly silenced voices in support of Palestine on Instagram and Facebook in the wake of the hostilities between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today.
The 51-page report, โMetaโs Broken Promises: Systemic Censorship of Palestine Content on Instagram and Facebook,โ documents a pattern of undue removal and suppression of protected speech including peaceful expression in support of Palestine and public debate about Palestinian human rights.
Human Rights Watch found that the problem stems from flawed Meta policies and their inconsistent and erroneous implementation, overreliance on automated tools to moderate content, and undue government influence over content removals.

๐ต๐ธ Gaza death toll could reach half a million: Lancet
Israel's assault on Gaza could lead to between 149,000 and 598,000 Palestinian deaths if it were to end immediately, as estimated by experts for The Lancet.
The medical journal published a research correspondence between physicians and public health experts on 5 July on the difficulty of accounting for the number of those killed by Israel's war on Gaza, highlighting that both direct and indirect deaths should be considered.
The Gaza Health Ministry has reported over 38,000 Palestinians killed since the beginning of the war.
But counting the dead and injured has become increasingly difficult for the ministry as the war drags on, now entering its tenth month, the contributors wrote.
