Al-Haq Releases New Report and film on Israel’s Water Apartheid – Al Haq - 2022

By virtue of their identity, Palestinians are subject to a discriminatory apartheid system denying access to their own water. Israel’s apartheid regime is founded upon discriminatory laws, policies and practices which enable the Israeli military authorities to hold complete control over all water resources and water-related infrastructure in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). In Area C of the occupied West Bank, under full Israel military and civilian control, Israel controls and denies Palestinian access to water reservoirs and pumping sites, routinely destroys water wells, and imposes a discriminatory and arbitrary permit regime for the implementation of any water related project.

Dried Up: Mekorot’s Involvement in the Israeli Occupation – whoprofits – Flash report | Jun 2023

In this report, Who Profits highlights the role of Mekorot, Israel’s national water company, in facilitating the dispossession and displacement of Palestinian communities on both sides of the Green Line – an embedded dispossession utilized to bolster Israel’s settlement enterprise and economic growth, and contingent on exploiting occupied natural resources and violating Palestinian and Syrian rights

🇵🇸 Visualizing Palestine (@visualizingpal): "97% of Gaza's water was unsafe to drink even before the most recent Israeli military assault, which has devastated water infrastructure. 🇵🇸 "Rainwater is the property of 'Israel'. Palestinians are forbidden from gathering rainwater. Source: a UN report:

''according to Israeli military orders in effect in the area, rain is the property of the Israeli authorities and thus Palestinians are forbidden from gathering rain water for domestic or agricultural needs.' And: 'As well as prohibiting nearly all construction of wells necessary for Palestinians to secure additional quantities of water to support population growth and socio-economic development, such policies have denied communities access to water and sanitation facilities, including water, toilets, sewage networks and cisterns for rainwater harvesting.''

🇵🇸 Israel expands its mass starvation campaign to include more than 65% of the Gaza Strip | EuroMed HR Monitor

Geneva - Israel has expanded its total ban on humanitarian supplies entering large areas of the Gaza Strip as part of its ongoing genocide, waged since 7 October, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said on Monday in a statement emphasising Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon against civilians.

The Israeli army had planned to largely cut off the Gaza Strip’s central governorate from the Strip’s southern areas during the past 48 hours by imposing restrictions on movement and limiting the supply of humanitarian aid, such as food and drinkable water.

🇵🇸 No food, no water – Gaza
The humanitarian situation is completely devastating.

People tried to go to Rafah, but Rafah was also packed, so a lot of people came to the middle area.

The streets are completely crowded and people are trying to find food and water, even if it is not clean or drinkable water. People are still, to this point, trying to rescue those who were targeted last night from under the rubble.

The health situation is collapsing and people are not able to receive any medical assistance because hospitals are running out of supplies.

There have been no food distribution centres working since the resumption of fighting. Garbage is everywhere in the streets, the smell is suffocating, and you can barely stand it.

Al Jazeera's Hind Khoudary is in Deir el-Balah, central #Gaza describes a horrofic situation in which herself is stuggling to find food.

There are 12 families staying in my grandmother’s home. More than 50 people have to share three bathrooms.

Every day my brother and my nephews have to fetch #water and bring it into the house.

We have no electricity or fuel.

🇵🇸 UNICEF says malnutrition and disease threatening more than 1.1m children in Gaza

Israel's war on Gaza has created a humanitarian catastrophe. UN agencies are warning that half of Gaza's 2 point 3 million population is at risk of starvation. Tanya Haj Hassan, a pediatrician with Doctors Without Borders, says the war is killing more than 100 children each day, and that many more will suffer from life-long disabilities and health issues.

🇵🇸 The chief economist of the World Food Program, Arif Husain, warned that Gaza is on the brink of famine, with over 90% of the population facing "high levels of acute food insecurity" and skipping meals daily.

Speaking to The New Yorker, Husain stated that the living conditions in Gaza are dire, with "one shower for every forty-five hundred people, one toilet for every two hundred and twenty people," creating a potential pandemic risk, especially for children who are the most vulnerable.

Husain cautioned that Gaza's dependence on imports for crucial supplies, coupled with restricted food access, has left humanitarian organisations grappling to address escalating needs in the face of an unparalleled crisis. He emphasised the immediate requirement for more food supply, efficient distribution, and a humanitarian ceasefire.

"80% of the people worldwide in famine or a catastrophic type of hunger are in Gaza right now. This is also what makes it unprecedented."
