🇵🇸 According to Israeli media reports, the Israeli occupation forces have launched a #polio #vaccination campaign for their soldiers in Gaza after the virus was detected in the enclave's #sewage system.

On Friday, World Health Organization (#WHO) spokesperson Christian Lindmeier announced that poliovirus type 2 had been found at six sewage locations in the #Gaza Strip, though no cases of polio-related symptoms have been reported so far. Lindmeier described the finding as "extremely worrying."

Since the beginning of the war, Israel has deliberately targeted many of Gaza's sewage treatment centers and municipal stations responsible for maintaining these systems. This has exacerbated flooding and severely threatened hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians who are already struggling with a lack of #water due to Israel's blockade.
