Born on 31 October 1933 Queen Nariman, the second wife of King Farouk, and sat on the throne of Egypt next to him on May 6 1951. This item would have been part of the priestly garment of Tutankhamun. Small bronze rings at the back would have sewn the head to a cloth robe to complete the look.
The wooden gilded head is carved in the shape of a leopard, with inlays of colored glass and crystal. Tutankhamun’s throne name, Neb-kheperu-ra, is carved into the leopard’s forehead.

Breastplate of King Tutankhamun
Inspiring jewel-makers until today, the falcon-shaped breastplate is made from gold, lapis lazuli and carnelian.

The falcon’s wings are outstretched, it carries a solar disc on its head, and two shen-rings in each talon, topped with an ankh.

Most likely, this piece represents Horus, the falcon-headed deity of power and kingship.
