††† እንኳን ለመናኙ ንጉሥ ቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ ዓመታዊ የዕረፍት በዓል በሰላም አደረሳችሁ፤ አደረሰን። †††

††† በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ አሜን! †††

††† መናኙ ንጉሥ ካሌብ †††

††† ቅዱሱን ንጉሥ አፄ ካሌብን በዓለም ያሉ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት በትልቁ ያከብሩታል:: ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ግን አክሱም አካባቢ ካልሆነ ከነ ስም አጠራሩ እንኳ እየተዘነጋ ይመስለኛል::

ነገር ግን ውለታው : ምናኔውና ቅድስናው የማይረሳ ነውና እንኳን በእምነት የሚመስሉን ይቅርና የማይመስሉን ምሥራቅ ኦርቶዶክሶችና ካቶሊኮች ዓመታዊ በዓሉን በወርኀ ጥቅምት ያከብራሉ::

ከአክሱም ነገሥታት በኃይሉም ሆነ በሃይማኖታዊ ቅድስናው አፄ ካሌብ ዋናው ነው:: ቅዱሱ የነገሠው በ485 ዓ/ም አካባቢ ሲሆን እስከ 515 ዓ/ም ድረስ በዙፋኑ ላይ ቆይቷል:: ከመልካም ትዳሩ አፄ ገብረ መስቀልን ጨምሮ ልጆችን ወልዷል::

††† ስለ ቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ እስኪ እነዚህን ነገሮች ብቻ እናንሳ:-

1.በንግሥና ዙፋን ከመቀመጡ በፊት የሚገባውን መንፈሳዊ ትምሕርት ጠንቅቆ ተምሯል::

2.ሃይማኖቱ የጠራና እጅግ የሚደነቅ ነበር:: በእርሱ ዘመን ሃይማኖት ለነገሥታቱ የፖለቲካ ማስፈጸሚያ ነበር:: እርሱ ግን እግዚአብሔርን በፍጹም ልቡ አምልኳል::

3.ለእመቤታችንና ለቸር ልጇ የነበረው ጥልቅ ፍቅር የተገለጠና የሚያስቀና ነበር::

4.ገና በዙፋኑ ሳለ ጸሎትን ያዘወትር ነበር::

5.ዛሬም ድረስ ሁሉም ክርስቲያኖች የማይረሱትን መንፈሳዊ ቅንዓትን አሳይቷል::
ይሕስ እንደ ምን ነው ቢሉ:-
*በወቅቱ ዐመፀኛው የአይሁድ መሪ ፊንሐስ በሃገረ ናግራን (የአሁኗ የመን) ውስጥ የነበሩ ክርስቲያኖችን ክርስቶስን ካዱ በሚል ጨፈጨፋቸው::

ከተማዋንም ለአርባ ቀናት በእሳት አነደዳት:: ዜናው በመላው ዓለም ሲሰማ በርካቶቹ ቢያዝኑም የተረፉትን ለመታደግ የሞከረ አልነበረም::

ቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ ግን የሆነውን ሲሰማ ወደ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ውስጥ ገብቶ በግንባሩ ሰገደ:: ወደ ፈጣሪም ጸለየ:- "ጌታዬ ሆይ! የክርስቲያኖችን ደም እመልስ ዘንድ እርዳኝ? እኔ በጦሬ ብዛት አልመካም:: እኔ ተሸንፌ ክርስትና ከሚናቅ እዚሁ ግደለኝ" ብሎ በበርሃ ላሉ መነኮሳት እንዲጸልዩ ላከባቸው::

ጊዜ ሳያጠፋ በመርከብና በፈረስ : በበቅሎና በግመል ናግራን (የመን) ደረሰ:: ፊንሐስን ገድሎ ሠራዊቱንም ማርኮ ክርስቲያኖችን ነጻ አወጣ:: ደምና እንባቸውንም አበሰ:: አብያተ መቅደሶችን አንጾላቸው ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ተመለሰ::

ወዲያው እንደተመለሰ ወደ አክሱም ጽዮን ገብቶ "ጌታየ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ስላደረክልኝ የምሰጥህ ሰውነቴን እንጂ ሐብቴን አይደለም" ብሎ መንግስቱን ለልጁ ገብረ መስቀል አውርሶ ከዙፋኑ ወጣ:: የወርቅ አክሊሉን ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም ልኮ እርሱ በአባ ጰንጠሌዎን እጅ መንኩሶ መነነ::
(በፎቶው ላይ የምታዩት አፄ ቅዱስ ካሌብ የመነነበት : አክሱም አካባቢ የሚገኝ የአባ ጰንጠሌዎን ገዳም ነው)

ከዚሕች ዓለም ከአንዲት ረዋት (ኩባያ) : ከአንዲት ሰሌንና ከአንዲት ቀሚስ በቀር የወሰደው አልነበረም:: ከዚያም በበዓቱ ውስጥ በጾምና በጸሎት ተወስኖ አንድም ሰው ሳያይ በሰባ ዓመቱ (በ529 ዓ/ም) ዐርፏል:: ጌታችንም በሰማይ ክብርን አጐናጽፎታል::

††† ለቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ የተለመነ አምላክ ለእኛም ይለመነን:: በጻድቁም ጸሎት ከመከራ ይሠውረን::

✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the departure of Emperor Saint Kaleb/Caleb (St. Elesbaan) who left his throne for the monastic life✞✞✞

✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞

✞✞✞The Ascetic Emperor Kaleb/Elesbaan✞✞✞
=>The Saintly Emperor Kaleb is commemorated by Churches all over the world in a great manner. However, in Ethiopia, if not around Axum, it seems to me (the author) that even his name is being forgotten.

✞As his contributions, his asceticism, and his holiness are remarkable let alone those who are in communion with us, even those who we are not in unity with us like the Eastern Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Church hold his annual feast in the Month of Tekemt (October 24 and some on 27).

✞Emperor Kaleb was the most prominent of the Axumite Kings in his faith or might. The Saint was enthroned around 485 E.C (Ethiopic Calendar) and stayed in power until 515 E.C. And from his good marriage, he bore children including Emperor Gabra Masqal. 

✞✞✞Let us only mention the following things about Emperor St. Kaleb✞✞✞
1. He was well educated spiritually before he sat on the throne.
2. He was pure in his faith and very honorable. In his day, faith was a weapon to fulfill political needs but he truly and wholeheartedly worshipped God.
3. His love for our Lady and her Good Son was visible and would make one envious.
4. He prayed habitually while he was still on his throne.
5. He showed spiritual zeal that all Christians will not forget. And if asked how that came to be, it was as follows.

✞At that time, in the 6th century, the leader of Nagran (Najran in Yemen), the Jewish Dhu Nuwas (also called Phinehas), slaughtered Christians that lived there after ordering them to renounce Christ.

✞And then he burned the city for forty days. And when the news was heard all over the world, though many were saddened none tried to help those that were left.

✞Nevertheless, when the Righteous Emperor Kaleb heard what had happened, he entered into a church and bowed down. And he prayed to God saying, “My Lord! Help me to avenge the blood of the Christians. I do not pride myself on the size of my army. And instead of me getting defeated and Christianity being put to shame for it, kill me here.” Then, he sent to the monks that dwelt in the desert to pray [for him especially to Abba Pantaleon].

✞Without wasting anytime, with ships, horses, mules and camels he reached Nagran (Najran). He killed Dhu Nuwas (Phinehas), took his army captive, and freed the Christians. Thus, he wiped away their tears and avenged their sheded blood. And after he built churches for them, he returned to Ethiopia.

✞And immediately after he returned, he entered the Church of Axum Zion and said, “My Lord Jesus Christ for what You have done for me I will give myself and not my wealth” and left his throne after elevating his son Gabra Masqal to power. And he sent his royal golden diadem to Jerusalem and was tonsured a monk by the hands of Abba Pantaleon (one of the Nine Saints) and he became an ascetic.

✞And he took nothing else but a water vessel, a palm mat and a monastic garb from the world. And he lived in his cell in fasting and prayer without seeing anybody and passed away at the age of seventy years (529 E.C). And our Lord granted him honor in heaven.

✞✞✞May God Who was beseeched for Emperor St. Kaleb also be pled by us. And by the prayers of the Saint may He keep us from misery.

🌿ብፁዕ አባ አቡነ ተክለ ሃይማኖት ዘኤለ ገዳማተ እምኀበ እግዚኡ ይነሣእ እሴተ ቦአ ሀገረ ደብረ ሊባኖስ በፍሥሐ ወበሰላም።

⚜ሰአል ለነ ጊዮርጊስ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ወጸሊ በእንቲአነ ሐረድዎ ወገመድዎ ወዘረዉ ሥጋሁ ከመ ሐመድ ወወሰድዎ ኀበ ሰብአ ነገሥት ረገጸ ምድረ አንሥአ ሙታነ አባ ጊዮርጊስ በሰላም ዐደወ መንግሥተ ክብር ወረሰ።

🌿ወልደ እግዚአብሔር አምላክነ ወመድኃኒነ ዕቀብ  ሕይወተነ እም ገሀነመ እሳት ወእምኵሉ መንሱት በእንተ ቅዱስ ስምከ ወበእንተ ማርያም እምከ ወበእንተ ቅዱስ መስቀል ወበእንተ ዮሐንስ ወንጌላዊ ወበእንተ ዮሐንስ መጥምቅከ ወበእንተ ኵሎሙ ቅዱሳን ወሀባ ሰላመ ለሀገሪትነ ኢትዮጵያ ወለቅድስት ቤተክርስቲያን።

⚜ሰላም ለክሙ ጻድቃን ወሰማዕት እለ አዕረፍክሙ በዛቲ ዕለት መዋዕያነ ዓለም አንትሙ በብዙኅ ትዕግሥት። ሰአሉ ቅድመ ፈጣሪ በኩሉ ሰዓት እንበለ ንስሐ ኪያነ ኢይንሣእ ሞት።
