✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the departure of Saint Antipas the Apostle✞✞✞

✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞

✞✞✞Saint Antipas✞✞✞

=>On this day is commemorated the great apostle and martyr St. Antipas. The Saint was a disciple of St. John the Evangelist who served as the shepherd (Bishop) of a place called Bar’ama (Pergamum/Pergamos).  

✞The Saint suffered much tribulation for the flock of Christ. And when he was in prison, he received a letter from St. John the Theologian (the Evangelist).  And in his letter, the evangelist told him that he was [going to be] counted as one of the apostles and martyrs. And because the time was the 1st century, the letter did not reached us.

✞Since the Saint learned under St. John, like his mentor he was a man of purity. And after many years of service he passed away as a martyr for the love of Christ on this day.
 
✞The Eastern Orthodox believe that the name of this Saint was mentioned in the great Holy Bible. What our Geez scripture says “ጻድቅየ መሃይምን - My righteous believer/My faithful martyr” in Rev. 2:13, the Greek version mentions by name saying, “Antipas”. And in the same chapter it is mentioned that he was the angel (administrator/minister) of one of the 7 churches of Asia Minor (Pergamum/Pergamos) and a martyr.
 
✞”And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”

✝️And Thursday, today, is called Adam (Adam’s Thursday). On this day, the economy of the Holy Savior, His incarnation, nativity, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, to save Adam is stated. During this day, children singing a traditional chorus called “Sele Adam – For Adam” while celebrating the feast.

=>Our forefather Adam is the first of mankind.

=>Our father Adam is
*First of the prophets
*First of the priests and
*First of the kings.
 
✝️Though through his transgression the world entered affliction, it was Adam’s repentance and love that ‘pulled’ the Son from His Throne. Our father has cried tears of repentance for a hundred (100) years. Hence, our father Adam is a Saint. He is not lesser to the other Saints, but may be greater.

=>And because all that we have stated about our father Adam applies to our mother Eve, we also commemorate and remember her jointly with him. 

=>May the God of Adam and Eve indwell in us their grace, honor, benefaction, and blessings.

ባለሟሎች ሆኑ:: እጅግ ብዙ መከራ እንደሚገጥማቸው
ነገራቸው:: (ማቴ. 10:16, ዮሐ. 16:33) በዚያው ልክ
ክብራቸውንም አከለላቸው:: (ማቴ. 19:28)

+ሥልጣናቸው ደግሞ እስከዚህ ድረስ ሆነ:: "በምድር
ያሠራችሁት በሰማይ የታሰረ ይሆናል: በምድር የፈታችሁት
በሰማይ የተፈታ ይሆናል::" (ማቴ. 18:18) "ይቅር
ያላችሁዋቸው ኃጢአታቸው ይቀርላቸዋል: ያላላቹሃቸው
ግን አይቀርላቸውም::" (ዮሐ. 20:23)

+የመንግስተ ሰማያትን መክፈቻ (ማቴ. 16:19):
እረኝነትን (ዮሐ. 21:15) ተቀበሉ:: ጌታ በንጹሕ አንደበቱ
ሐዋርያቱን እጅግ ሲያከብራቸው "ጨው: የዓለም
ብርሃናት" (ማቴ. 5:13) አላቸው:: ወንድሞቹም ተባሉ::
(ዮሐ. 7:5) ከዚህም በሚበልጥ በሌላ ክብር

+ከዚህ ሁሉ ነገር በሁዋላ በጌታ ሕማማት ጌዜ ገና
ነበሩና አንዳንዶቹ ፈርተው ተበተኑ:: ተመልሰው ግን
በጽርሐ ጽዮን ሲጸልዩ ሰንብተው የጌታን ትንሳኤ
ተመለከቱ:: እጆቹን: እግሮቹንም ዳስሰው ሐሴትን አደረጉ::

+ለ40 ቀናት መጽሐፈ ኪዳንን: ትምሕርተ ኅቡዓት: ሌላም
በፍጡር አንደበት የማይነገር ብዙ ምሥጢራትን ተምረው:
ጌታ ሊቀ ዽዽስናን ሹሟቸው ዐረገ::

+ለ10 ቀናት በእመ ብርሃን ሥር ተጠልለው ሲጸልዩና
በአንድ ልብ ሲተጉ ሰንብተው መንፈስ ቅዱስ ወረደላቸው::
በአንዴም ከፍርሃት ወደ ድፍረት ተመልሰው ፍጹማን:
ብርሃናውያን ሆኑ:: 71 ልሳናትን ነስተው በአንዲት ስብከት
ብቻ 3ሺ ነፍሳትን ማረኩ:: (ሐዋ. 2:41)

+ቅዱሳን ሐዋርያት በኅብረት ለአንድ ዓመት ያህል
በኢየሩሳሌምና በዙሪያዋ እየተመላለሱ አስተምረው ብዙ
እሥራኤላውያንን ወደ ክርስትና ማርከዋል:: ከዚህ በሁዋላ
ግን እንደ ትውፊቱ በዚህች ቀን ዓለምን በእጣ ለ12
ተካፈሏት::

+ይህ ሲሆን መንፈስ ቅዱስ አብሯቸው ነበርና
ለእያንዳንዳቸው እንደሚገባቸው አሕጉረ ስብከቶች
ደረሷቸው:: እነርሱም ደቀ መዛሙርቶቻቸውን አስከትለው
ለታላቁ መንፈሳዊ ዘመቻ ወረዱ::

+በሔዱበት ቦታም ከተኩላ: ከአንበሳና ከነምር ጋር
ታገሉ:: በጸጋቸውም አራዊትን (ክፉ ሰዎችን) ወደ በግነት
መልሰው ለክርስቶስ አስረከቡ:: በየሃገሩ እየሰበኩ
ድውያንን ፈወሱ:: ለምጻሞችን አነጹ:: እውራንን አበሩ::
አንካሶችን አረቱ:: ጐባጦችን አቀኑ:: ሙታንንም አስነሱ::
እልፍ አእላፍ አሕዛብንም ወደ መንጋው ቀላቀሉ::

+ስለዚህ ፈንታም ብዙዎቹ በእሳት ተቃጠሉ:: ቆዳቸው
ተገፈፈ:: በምጣድ ተጠበሱ:: ደማቸው በምድር ላይ
ፈሰሰ:: ከአንድ ቅዱስ ዮሐንስ ወንጌላዊ በቀር ሁሉም
ይህችን ዓለም በሰማዕትነት ተሰናበቱ:: ጨው ሆነው
አጣፍጠዋልና: ብርሃንም ሆነው አብርተዋልና
እናከብራቸዋለን:: "አባቶቻችን: መምሕሮቻችን: ጌቶቻችንና
ሊቆቻችን" እንላቸዋለን::

=>በዚህ ቀን ሐዋርያው ቅዱስ ያዕቆብ ወልደ ዘብዴዎስ
ሰማዕት ሆኗል:: ቅዱሱ ሐዋርያ አባቱ ዘብዴዎስ: እናቱ
ማርያም ባውፍልያ: ትንሽ ወንድሙ ደግሞ ዮሐንስ
ወንጌላዊ ይባላል::

+ከ12ቱ ሐዋርያት አንዱ ሲሆን አሳ አጥማጅነቱን ትቶ:
ከጌታችን እግር ተምሮ በዓለም ወንጌልን አስፋፍቷል::
(ማር. 1:19) ከሌሎቹ ሐዋርያት በተለየም የእንስሳትን
ቁዋንቁዋ ያውቅ ነበር::

+በመጽሐፍ ቅዱስ በሔሮድስ መገደሉ (ሰማዕትነቱ)
የተነገረለት ከ12ቱ ብቸኛው ነው:: ሰማዕት የሆነውም
በ44 ዓ/ም : ማለትም ከጌታ ዕርገት 10 ዓመታት በሁዋላ
: ሐዋርያት ለስብከተ ወንጌል ወደ ዓለም ሳይበተኑ ነው::
(ሐዋ. 12:1)

=>እግዚአብሔር ከቅዱስ ያዕቆብና ከቅድስት ቤቱ በረከት አይለየን::

=>ሚያዝያ 17 ቀን የሚከበሩ ዓመታዊ የቅዱሳን በዓላት=
1.ቅዱስ ያዕቆብ ሐዋርያ ወልደ ዘብዴዎስ (ከ12ቱ
ሐዋርያት)

✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the departure of Saint James the Apostle✞✞✞

✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞

✞✞✞Saint James the Apostle✞✞✞

=>According to the teachings of the Church except our Lady none greater than the Apostles rose. “Apostle” means “one who is sent, missionary, messenger, emissary of truth”. Nonetheless, in its deeper meaning the scholars have described it as a “courtier (steward)”. 

✞If asked, “How did that happen?”, it was as follows.
✞After the Lord of all creation, the Holy Savior, to Whom is glory, was born of the Virgin Mary, grew up, was baptized, fasted and returned from the Judean desert, His first task was calling forth disciples.

✞And from the crowd that followed Him, which was as large as the people of five markets, He selected the 12 Apostles. As it says, “He called unto Him His disciples: and of them He chose twelve, whom also He named apostles” (Luke 6:13).

✞And they were
1. Simon whom was named Peter
2. Andrew (his brother)
3. James son of Zebedee
4. John (his brother)
5. Philip
6. Bartholomew
7. Thomas
8. Matthew
9. James son of Alphaeus
10. Thaddaeus (Lebbaeus)
11. Nathanael (Simon who was called the Zealot) and
12. Matthias (The one who replaced Judas)

✞After these 12 novices were called, they dwelt with Him for 3 years and 3 months while learning. And they spent the nights getting elaborations on the teachings (mysteries).

✞After the Lord taught them well, He gave them great responsibility. They became shepherds of the world and His servants. He told them that they will encounter great tribulation. (Matt. 10:16/ John 16:33) And accordingly, He added to their honor. (Matthew 19:28)
 
✞And their authority was up to, “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18) And also, “Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.” (John 20:23)

✞They received, the key to the heavenly kingdom and shepherd-ship. (Matt. 16:19/John 21:15) The Lord honoring them said, “Ye are the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13). They were also called His brethren (John 7:5). And He glorified them with a distinct and greater honor.

✞After this, during the passion of Christ, because they were not strong yet, some of them dispersed in fear.  However, later, they gathered in prayer at the Upper Room and were able to see the Lord’s resurrection. They touched His hands and feet and were joyous.

✞And after learning for 40 days “The Books of the Covenant”, the “Teachings on the Mysteries (the Mystagogia)” and other mysteries, too great for the tongue of a creature to speak of, and after the Lord ordained them as bishops, He ascended.

✞And after 10 days praying under the shield of the Mother of Light and being diligent as of one mind, the Holy Spirt descended for them. And immediately, they were changed from fearful to courageous, and became whole and illuminators. After assuming 71 languages, in one sermon, they saved 3 thousand souls. (Acts 2:41)

✞The Holy Apostles, together, taught at Jerusalem and its surroundings for a year and converted many Israelites to Christianity. After that, they divided amongst themselves the world by lots into 12 parts according to Tradition [for missionary work].

✞When this took place, as the Holy Spirit was with them, each received a diocese according to his capacities. And they went with their disciples for a great spiritual mission.

✞And where they went, they struggled with wolves, lions and tigers. And with the grace they were given, they changed the beasts (wicked men) to sheep and submitted them to Christ. They preached and restored the sick in the different countries [they entered]. They cured lepers and the blind. They healed the lame and the hunchbacked. They rose the dead. And they incorporated thousands and thousands of gentiles to the flock.

✞And in return many of them were burned, skinned alive (flayed), placed on hot iron beds and shed their blood. Except St. John the Evangelist, all passed away from this world as martyrs. We honor them because they gave savor as salts and were luminous as light. We call them our ‘Fathers, Teachers, Lords, and Leaders’.

✞✞✞Saint James✞✞✞
=>On this day, the Apostle St. James the son of Zebedee was martyred. The Holy Apostle’s father was called, Zebedee, while his mother was named, Bawflia and his younger brother was called John the Evangelist.

✞He was one of the 12 Apostles. He stopped being a fisherman, learned under our Lord and expanded the Gospel around the world.  (Mark 1:19) He differed from the rest of the apostles because he knew the tongues of the animals. 

✞He is the only one from the 12 whose killing (martyrdom) by Herod was told in the Holy Bible. He became a martyr in 44 A.D, 10 years after the resurrection of the Lord and before the Apostles dispersed to preach the Gospel. (Acts. 12:1)

✞✞✞May God not separate us from the blessings of St. James and his holy abode.
