Hymns, though old,
Still good as gold.
Timeless truths they hold,
In fresh melodies, retold.

Sometimes life can feel stormy. We never know when we'll be rained on by problems, showered by the anxieties of daily life, or tossed around by the winds of uncertainties. But when we stand under the promises of God, Heโ€™s like a giant umbrella protecting us from the harsh elements of life. With God, we can remain joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer no matter what circumstances come our way (Romans 12:12).

When Life Doesn't Go As Expected

Who am I? What am I here for? I used to think these two great questions could be answered once, then put aside.

Now Iโ€™m not so sure.

Here are three lessons that may help when your life doesnโ€™t go as expected . . .

Featured Devotional | Why?

Lord, he was so young . . . married less than a year. My heart broke for the wife and extended family of the young man--grieving his loss as fellow mourners met with them.

I Forgot I Was Friends with Jesus

I had become so calloused to the tender side of His relationship with me that it often felt more like I was His spiritual employee, rather than someone He delights in

Thatโ€™s why the moment Jesus had with His disciples in the last chapter of John, is one of my favorites.

Because of His (Jesusโ€™) death and resurrection, we now bear the hope that regardless of what happens in the world around us, He is our refuge and strength.

ARTSPACE | Invisible Women

On International Womenโ€™s Day, inspiring stories abound of women who have changed the world. For most of us, these stories and achievements probably sound unattainable. We live ordinary lives; our quiet hurts, flaws, and brokenness invisible to most of the world.

Yet Jesus is notorious for using the most unexpected, hidden people to change the world.

โ€˜Invisible Womenโ€™ highlights five women who remain unnamed in the Bible. They were outcasts, broken people, touched by the Light of the Worldโ€”and even though we donโ€™t know their names, their stories are still told today. We hope youโ€™ll be blessed by their stories, and encouraged to know that He is working through yours, too.

Confessions of A First-Time K-Drama Male Viewer: I Was Hooked on CLOY

"Crash Landing on You" (or CLOY) marks the first Korean drama I have ever watched and completed.

My wife had started the series and I wanted to sit through at least one episode with her to see what all the hype was about.

By the end of the first episode, both of us were hooked. But it was evident halfway through the series that my wife and I were engaged in the drama for different reasons.

Identifying Godโ€™s promises has helped me immensely in prayer. In doing so, I can pray with more confidence for Him to follow through on them. . . not because I, or anyone, is deserving of the promise, but because God made the promise and he will follow-through on it.

To My Little Girl on International Women's Day

My girl,

Itโ€™s International Womenโ€™s Day. Today, some will say weโ€™ve made progress, and they will be right. Others will focus on how far we have yet to go, and they will be right too.

There will be good ideas shared today, and there will be dangerous ideas. Here are some guiding principles that Iโ€™ve learned from experience, that could help you navigate this day.

Thank God I Struggle with Same-Sex Attraction

Yes, you read that right. It sounded ridiculousโ€”even sadisticโ€”to me as well, when my friend said a similar prayer years ago.

But today, these seven precious words have taken on a new meaning for me.

Pursuing humility is a tough battle against the very grain of our human nature - pride. But we can draw strength from the knowledge that it was one of the most distinctive marks of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Marriage Story: Why Broken Relationships Are Still Worth Saving

Going into the Netflix movie "Marriage Story", I thought I was familiar with the word โ€œdivorceโ€.

But I did not expect to have tears streaming down my face as I wrestled with the meaning of broken relationships, forgiveness, and redemption over the next two hours and 17 minutes.

Through each difficult moment, Godโ€™s tender love has never failed to guide me through. I have finally understood what it means to have faith and trust in a God who is unseen.
