Apparently NUS outsources to a 3rd-party security firm that blocks “bad reputation” IPs. Since Cloudflare's reverse proxy manages millions of users aka IP address shared by millions of users. If someone conduct malicious stuff behind Cloudflare reverse proxy, those IPs get blacklisted.

The only real fix is to bring your own IP, but with Cloudflare that means paying ~200 SGD/month just to unlock the feature. The annoying part is Cloudflare doesn't let you rotate or change their Anycast IPs, so you’re basically stuck with whatever smelly IP they give you.

Apparently only Cloudflare anycast IPs (104.21.64.0/20) are blocked by NUS network. So you can fix the ban by deactivating the proxy.

However, if you are using cloudflare workers, their IP addresses are in the blacklist. One way to fix this is to use an alternative CDN to proxy the IP address to bypass the block.

purchased a new domain jobless.party on Cloudflare, so i can use a different CDN to proxy some of my cloudflare worker traffic. But Cloudflare doesn't allow the change of authoritative name server, so i basically stuck with the Cloudflare CDN, purchased it to have a jobless party 🤡

a lot of the tough AI problems, like training efficiency, are really just tough HPC problems. If we can figure out a better parallel filesystem for HPC, it will save a huge amount of electricity and time wasted on training AI

there is a huge market for this, OpenAI is estimated to have spent over a billion dollars to train GPT-5

One way people trying to achieve this is by ditching POSIX (more details in the slides, thanks to Prof Chen Wang for agreeing to share the slides)
