BREAKING: Proof that Xiaomi’s R&D Department is just a text editor as Xiaomi renames Tab 8 to Tab 9
Xiaomi’s "innovation" has officially peaked at a basic find-and-replace job. Why bother with engineers when a developer with a backspace key can create a "next-gen" device in seconds. Firmware Code shows the "new" Pad 9 is just a global rebrand of the Pad 8, keeping the same ‘yupei’ codename throughout.

Vietnam Fines Xiaomi For Violating Consumer Protection Rights!
On May 7, 2026, the National Competition Commission of Vietnam issued Decision No. 123/QĐ-XPHC imposing a fine of VND 290,000,000 (~ $11,000) on Xiaomi Vietnam Co., Ltd. for 3 violations:
- Not giving consumers the option to allow or not allow the use of their information for advertising, promoting products, goods, services, and other commercial activities.
- Failing to notify or disclose to consumers in advance the sponsorship of influencers in any form to use their image, advice, or recommendations for commercial promotion or to encourage consumers to buy or use products, goods, or services.
- Including clauses that are not permitted in general terms and conditions of transactions.

Continuing its legacy of copying Apple, Xiaomi is now ripping off Apple's product launch roadmap right after stealing their naming scheme.
Similar to how Apple plans to debut the vanilla iPhone 18 next year alongside the iPhone 18e and the Air 2, Xiaomi would also be launching its regular Xiaomi 18 now next year only.
