Hi all - in about 90 minutes we will have “Support for candidates”, the second topic panel in the round of topic panels this weekend hosted by the Call for Feedback: Community Board seats facilitation team.

Many people agree with the idea of better supporting candidates in elections and potential candidates well before elections. What exactly should we start planning for the upcoming Board election? What types of support can increase the quantity and diversity of candidates with chances to win a seat? What changes could be done to the nomination and campaign periods for equal support of each candidate?

Please join us! We will provide the session link 15 minutes before start here and on the metapage:

In about 75 minutes the “Regional diversity” panel session will begin.

Regional diversity has been the topic most discussed during the Call for feedback. Almost everyone agrees that the Board needs to improve its regional diversity. Most participants believe that the Board should have trustees from all the big regions. Most participants agree that we must find ways to have Board members from underrepresented regions like Asia and Africa. However, there is no agreement about how to achieve this goal. Most participants in underrepresented regions believe that it is unlikely that candidates from their regions will win a seat with the current elections systems any time soon.

For a moment, let’s imagine. What if… the Board would commit to a regional diversity quota? How would this regional quota be defined? How would it affect the community voting processes expected this year? There is no current consensus about regional quotas. This discussion is not to suggest that this will be the approach embraced. This session is an opportunity to explore how such an approach might work.

Hi everyone! The Call for Candidates for the Board of Trustees is just a month away.

The Board Election facilitators have a question for you: What do communities want to know about candidates? Please share your thoughts here on Telegram or here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2021#What_do_communities_want_to_know_about_candidates
Hey all! The Board of Trustees seeks candidates for the 2022 Board of Trustees election.

The 2022 Board of Trustees election is here! Please consider submitting your candidacy to join the Board of Trustees.

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees oversees the Wikimedia Foundation's operations. Community-and-affiliate selected trustees and Board-appointed trustees make up the Board of Trustees. Each trustee serves a three year term. The Wikimedia community has the opportunity to vote for community-and-affiliate selected trustees.

The Wikimedia community will vote to fill two seats on the Board in 2022. This is an opportunity to improve the representation, diversity, and expertise of the Board as a team.

Who are potential candidates? Are you a potential candidate?

Hi all, please propose statements to be used in the 2022 Board of Trustees Election Compass. You can read more here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Announcement/Propose_statements_for_the_2022_Election_Compass
Hi all, The Affiliate Selection for the 2022 Board of Trustees election has concluded. The community can propose and vote for the questions the candidates will answer in their videos ahead of the community selection: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Community_Voting/Questions_for_Candidates
Volunteers are invited to vote for statements to use in the Election Compass in the 2022 Board of Trustees election. You can vote for the statements you would like to see included in the Election Compass on Meta-wiki.

An Election Compass is a tool to help voters select the candidates that best align with their beliefs and views. The community members will propose statements for the candidates to answer using a Lickert scale (agree/neutral/disagree). The candidates’ answers to the statements will be loaded into the Election Compass tool. Voters will use the tool by entering in their answer to the statements (agree/disagree/neutral). The results will show the candidates that best align with the voter’s beliefs and views.

Vote now through August 3.
