📝 Position:
- Research Intern (Graduate school)

PURPOSE: Research Assistant will assist the research team in conducting a study on the impact of supply chain management practices in the Uzbek Textile Scenario.
PROJECT: An assessment of green supply chain management practices implementation in textile industry in Uzbekistan
IMPORTANT: The internship is paid with the opportunity to continue similar projects

REQUIREMENTS:
- Level 4, 5, or 6 in Business Management / Economics with Finance;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Uzbek and Russian;
- Strong analytical and research skills;
- Ability to work in a team environment with strict deadlines;
- Familiarity with supply chain management practices and methodologies will be ideal;
- Candidates with familiarity in the cotton belt area and textile industry will be preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the lead researcher and research team in conducting and analysing research on the green supply chain management practices;
- Traveling with the research team and acting as an interpreter;
- Collect and analyse data;
- Conduct literature reviews;
- Assist in the preparation of research reports and presentations;

On May 19, 2023, WIUT hosted Student Research Society Conference (SRSC) titled "Creating solutions for reaching the SDGs". The conference included nearly 20 research presentations by undergraduate and postgraduate students. Professor John Thwaites AM, the Chair of Monash Sustainable Development Institute participated as a keynote speaker. The conference was organized to bring together students to present their research works and discuss it with their peers.

The Great Silk Road Conference by Bournemouth University at WIUT

To promote research on the emerging countries along the Great Silk Road, Bournemouth University`s Research Cluster of Finance and International Economic Policy Department are organizing an international conference, “The Great Silk Road: Opportunities and/or Challenges for the Development of Eurasia”, at Westminster International University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 5 – 6 July 2023.

The keynote speakers of the conference will be:
• Professor Larry King – University of Cambridge, UK; University of Massachusetts, USA
• Professor Andrei Vernikov – Independent researcher
• Professor Charles Becker – Duke University, USA
• Professor Ke Rong – Tsinghua University, China

Deadline for submissions has been extended by June 15, 2023, in the form of an Extended Abstract (500 words).

On December 11-15, 2023, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) will organize a Training Course on Applied Econometric Analysis. The aim of the Training Course is to strengthen the capacity of young economists/researchers in Uzbekistan for quantitative research, economic policy analysis, and, in particular, for econometric analysis of socioeconomic phenomena in the context of agri-food sector development.

Participants for the Training Course will be selected on a competitive basis. All those who are engaged in research or seek a career involving research, are at the age of 35 or younger, and reside in Uzbekistan, are eligible. Applicants should submit a Training Course Application Form together with their most up-to-date CV no later than November 15, 2023.
Tashkent Business & Economics Conference (TBEC)

On November 15, 2023, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) in partnership with the University of Westminster (UoW), will be hosting the 2nd Tashkent Business & Economics Conference (TBEC).

The keynote speakers of the conference will be Randall K. Filer, Professor of Economics at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and Alisher Aldashev, Professor of Economics at Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU).

We cordially invite interested people from research, government, and private sector communities, and students to join the conference in-person or virtually on November 15, 2023. The conference will be held at WIUT campus.

New Academic Talent 2024

We are excited to announce New Academic Talent competition among current Level 6 and 7 students, writing their final year dissertations.

Applicants submit their final year project and an extended abstract to the first round. Selected finalists then make their project presentation in the second round. Papers will be judged based on originality, substance, analytical nature, and clarity of writing.

The winners will receive prizes, and get the opportunity to have lunch with the Deans and Supervisors. Best dissertations will be also considered for publication in the international peer-reviewed journal, Silk Road: A Journal of Eurasian Development (https://silkroadjournal.online/), published by the University of Westminster Press (UK).

Three days left until the deadline for the Second Student Research Society Conference (SRSC 2024) titled “Amplifying Student Voices: Inspiring SDGs Action through Student-Led Initiatives”.
This research society conference aims to bring together undergraduate (bachelor) and postgraduate (master) students from Central Asia allowing them to present their research ideas to their peers and senior researchers.

Benefits:
• Selected WIUT student(s) during this conference, will have the opportunity to present their research proposals/papers at the Student Research Conference at the University of Westminster (London).
• Selected research papers will be published in Conference Proceedings, WIUT Research Working Paper Series, or the international peer-reviewed journal, Silk Road: A Journal of Eurasian Development.
• Certificates of conference participation will be provided.

Deadline for paper submission is February 10, 2024.

Call for volunteers for the Students Research Society Conference

📆 Date: February 29th (volunteers should come to the meeting on February 28th as well)

The conference will be a day long. Lunch and coffee breaks will be provided.
✅️Letter of appriciation will be given.

Dress code: Casual(White shirt and black pants)
Volunteers will help with the registration and escorting the guests, and lead the role of a first-hand assistant during the event.
