ESSENTIALS OF THEOLOGY

What does it mean for a Muslim to be a believer? And how do we know what to believe?

This year-long course, delivered over 30 lessons, will answer to these two important questions. Students will learn how scholarly Islam uses both rational arguments as well as spiritual insight to understand God's existence, our existence, and creation intelligibly.

LEARN TO RECITE THE QUR'AN
(Women's Course)


This is a ten-week introduction to the science and art of reciting the Qur'an (tajwid). Students will be taught the etiquettes of recitation, correct articulation of the Arabic sounds, the qualities of letters, and other issues pertaining to the recitation of the Book of God.
The teacher will help students to apply these rules to their own reading and teach students how to self-correct their recitation, based upon what they have learnt.
Due to the intensive nature of the training, only five students will be accepted on the course at any one time.

Prerequisites
1) The ability to read Arabic text 2) A solid commitment to attend all ten lessons (due to the progressive nature of the course, and the limited number of seats).

Surah Ibrahim is a Meccan surah comprising 52 verses. It explains and describes situations that are constantly faced as part of the human condition. Therefore, understanding our choices in response to those timeless situations mentioned in the surah comes with a Divine response that never changes.

This course will clarify the meanings of tradition (sunna) and innovation (bid‘a), in both beliefs and practices.
