Big news in local insurance today: HSBC is selling its Singapore insurance arm (HSBC Life) to Germany’s Allianz for S$2.7B.

If you have existing HSBC Life policies, here is what you need to know:
- Your coverage stays 100% intact.
- Existing policy terms, benefits, and payout conditions don't change.

HSBC isn't pulling out of Singapore. They're shifting to a "bancassurance" model. In simple terms: HSBC will focus on wealth management and sell Allianz insurance products in their branches over the next 15 years, while Allianz handles the backend underwriting.

Timeline: The deal is set to complete by 1H 2027, so no immediate action is needed on your end.

My take: This is part of a broader trend where banks prefer fee income rather than holding heavy insurance capital reserves on their books. Allianz also gets a strong foothold in SG after the NTUC Income deal fell through in 2024.

Drop me a message if you want me to review your existing HSBC policies!
As a parent, I used to think the best gifts were toys and little treats. Lately I’ve been asking a different question: what if the most meaningful gift I can give my child is time — the time for investments to grow and open future choices?

Starting early doesn't require huge amounts. Small, regular investments let compounding work quietly over years, turning disciplined habits into real options for education, a first home, or starting a business. It's about giving opportunity, not entitlement.

If you’re an individual or family thinking about how to build a financial foundation for your child, I’d love to help you create a personalised plan that fits your values. Visit the full article to read examples and the thinking behind this approach — and when you're ready, let’s talk about a strategy tailored for your family.

Planning retirement in Singapore? Here are three milestones we recommend by your 40s, 50s and 60s - and the simple actions that get you there.

1) By your 40s: Build an emergency buffer and save at least 20% of income; top up CPF and use tax-efficient investments.
2) By your 50s: Shift to balanced, lower-risk portfolios and confirm adequate life and health coverage.
3) By your 60s: Ensure steady income streams from annuities, CPF LIFE planning and conservative bonds.

Small, timed adjustments compound into lasting security for you and your family in Singapore’s cost environment.

Good morning everyone.

The T. Rowe Price Global Focused Growth Equity Fund (SGD Hedged) has dropped to S$11.46. If you've been waiting for a better entry point, this could be a level worth paying attention to.

The technical levels I'm watching are:
📍 S$11.40–11.50 (current support)
📍 S$11.00–11.20 (strong support)
📍 S$10.50–10.70 (major support)

The fund currently has a distribution policy targeting 8% p.a., paid monthly, while offering exposure to leading global growth companies. Of course, distributions and investment returns are not guaranteed and the fund's value can go up or down.

I'm personally keeping a close eye on this fund and think the current price presents a great opportunity for those with a long-term investment horizon.

If you'd like to understand why I'm watching this fund or discuss whether it's suitable for your portfolio, feel free to chat with me.
The best time to buy insurance isn't when life takes an unexpected turn. It's before it does.

Many people put off protection planning because everything seems to be going well today.

But life can change without warning.

As we get older, insurance premiums generally increase. If our health changes, getting the coverage we want may become more difficult—or even impossible.

Planning early isn't about expecting the worst.
It's about giving yourself more choices, protecting your loved ones, and securing your financial future while you still have the opportunity.

The best financial plans are built before they're needed.

If you haven't reviewed your protection plan recently, now is a good time to start the conversation.

Are You Paying Too Much for Insurance… or Too Little to Stay Protected? 🤔

Spending more doesn't always mean you're better protected. And spending less doesn't necessarily mean you're saving wisely!

So, how much should you spend?

A general guide is 10–15% of your take-home income, but the right amount depends on your needs, responsibilities and life stage.

Insurance should protect your lifestyle, not become a burden on it.

It's not about spending MORE. It's about protecting SMARTER.

Unsure if you're overpaying or underinsured? Let's have a chat!
