And it’s not just practised by humans: many animals – from hibernating brown bears to broody nesting hens – spend extended periods without food. Children and animals also often refuse to eat in the early stages of illness.

📍 PRESS RELEASE: Cancelled Panel of Scientists to Speak at UN Human Rights Council Meeting on Health and Human Rights During Covid to Hold Press Conference in Geneva
A panel of international scientists invited to attend a UN HRC side meeting during the 55th Regular Session on Human Rights has been cancelled at short notice. The side meeting to have been held on the 21st March at noon CET would have been the first publicly available recorded UN HRC meeting on Health and Human Rights, and specifically on human rights violations during COVID.
The expert panel was to include Prof. Sukharit Bhakdi (Germany), Prof. Christian Peronne (France), Christof Plothe DO (Germany), and Dr Tess Lawrie (UK).
The significance of cancelling this UN Human Rights Council meeting on COVID human rights violations cannot be overstated. It confirms that at this time there are no institutional safeguards protecting inalienable human rights.
The international panel presentation and discussion on Health and Human Rights during COVID will now go ahead in a separate location in central Geneva in the form of a press conference. To attend this landmark press conference please contact Fiona Goodchild at fiona@worldcouncilforhealth.org.

Tuesday: Expert Hearing on the World Health Organization Power Grab
How do we counter corporate monopoly over health, facilitated by the WHO? What strategies will help us withdraw and move to a Better Way for health, freedom, and sovereignty?
The WHO’s IHR amendments and proposed pandemic treaty or accord demand rigorous scrutiny and engagement from civil society, governments, public health workers, and lawyers. The lack of meaningful national engagement with civil society and marginalized communities undermines the legitimacy and effectiveness of the negotiation process, reinforcing perceptions of top-down decision-making and exclusionary practices within the WHO. It is primarily for this reason, that the WCH is obliged to present a hearing to:
a) Independently appraise the WHO’s conduct and processes
b) Discuss strategies to counter the WHO’s expansion of power
