🇲🇩 The night before, the NATO information center building's doors were set on fire in Chisinau. The fire started because someone threw a Molotov cocktail: no one was injured, and there was no significant damage to the building.

We don't know who is responsible for this incident yet, but it's not surprising considering how forcefully the Moldovan authorities are promoting cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance and integration into the EU. This idea has radical opponents.

📌 Although neutrality is guaranteed by the Moldovan Constitution, the country has a close relationship with NATO. The US-led alliance has been conducting large-scale military exercises in Moldova in recent years, which have raised concerns among citizens.

Furthermore, President Maia Sandu believes that Moldova should eventually join NATO, and the negative attitude of society towards the bloc is the result of “years of Russian propaganda.”

🇲🇩🇺🇦 Last night, in Chisinau, unidentified individuals set fire to a center that provides assistance to Ukrainian refugees. A video has surfaced online showing the entrance of the building engulfed in flames, with the Ukrainian flag on the fence crossed out.

The perpetrators of the arson remain unknown, and the major Moldovan media have not yet reported on the situation. It appears that there were no casualties or significant damage to the building.

▪️ Recently, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Moldova announced that they would be closing more than half of the 38 accommodation centers for Ukrainian refugees, as they expect them to fully integrate into society.

▪️ Since 2022, approximately one million citizens from the so-called Ukraine have entered the republic, with most of them heading to EU countries.

▪️ Ukrainian refugees have become a significant burden for Moldova, with half of their maintenance costs being covered by the EU. However, the impoverished republic had to allocate nearly $30 million from its reserve fund, which has caused outrage among the society that does not receive support from the authorities during times of crisis. Additionally, there are frequent conflicts between Ukrainians and Moldovans due to the latter's use of the Russian language.

📌Just the day before yesterday, the doors of the NATO information center in Chisinau were also set on fire. Surprisingly, the alliance's representative office in the republic has not commented on the incident. Instead, the website continues to combat fake news about NATO and publish photos from relevant children's competitions.

The frustration of the Moldovan population regarding the exploitation of their state in favor of the so-called Ukraine can be felt even without such serious incidents of arson.

🇲🇩🇺🇦 Yesterday, the Border Police of Moldova announced that fragments of a Shahed-type drone were discovered in the south of the republic near the border with the Odessa region.

The wreckage was found near the village of Etulia in the Vulcanesti region. It is highly likely that this is another result of the Ukrainian air defense, as the Russian Armed Forces attacked warehouses in the Odessa region with drones the day before.

The Moldovan government has stated that there are no risks for local residents.

📌 The last high-profile incident in this area occurred in September, when fragments of a Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile fell in Transnistria. They had attempted to use the missile to repel attacks on the Odessa region.

🇲🇩 The Constitutional Court of Moldova ruled that the amendments transferring the burden of VAT reimbursement from the central to the local budget were illegal for the economic agents of the Gagauz autonomy.

Yesterday, a rally was held at the courthouse with deputies, residents of Gagauzia, and opposition representatives supporting the court’s decision.

▪️ Deputies from the ruling PAS party initiated changes to the Tax Code of Moldova, which were signed by President Maia Sandu. The adoption of these changes was accompanied by aggressive demands for the abolition of autonomy.

❗️The amendments posed a threat to the autonomy's existence, as they would have halved Gagauzia’s budget. This prompted the Gagauz authorities to seek assistance from Russia and to establish economic contacts.

▪️ In addition to the Gagauz people, deputies from the opposition Socialist Party also approached the Constitutional Court, highlighting that Sandu’s office “is actively working to divide citizens and dismantle the long-established dialogue.”

🔻The Constitutional Court's decision in favor of Gagauzia will temporarily ease tensions in the autonomy, as the consequences of the amendments could have been irreversible for present-day Moldova. The potential for renewed cooperation between Gagauzia and the Russian Federation has raised significant concerns in Chisinau.

Nevertheless, the region continues to experience legal isolation and, evidently, the conflict between the pro-Romanian authorities of Moldova and the pro-Russian Gagauzia is far from resolved.

🇲🇩🇷🇴🇫🇷 Last week, the results of another opinion poll of Moldovan residents regarding the foreign policy direction of the republic were released. Overall, the results show little deviation from previous studies, with President Maia Sandu's policies continuing to move in the opposite direction.

According to the survey, 37.8% of respondents supported unification with Romania, while 50% were against it. Regarding Moldova's accession to NATO, 55.4% opposed it, while 28.5% were in favor.

▪️ However, Moldova is effectively on its way to becoming a NATO member, as evidenced by the alliance's ongoing military exercises and the latest reports on the deployment of French military forces in the country.

▪️ The process of unification with Romania is being disguised as European integration, with Romanian politicians already holding key positions in Moldova.

▪️ It is clear that the Western military presence in Moldova is not only aimed at addressing the "issue" of Transnistria and gaining access to the Odessa region, but also at quelling potential protests, particularly in the pro-Russian region of Gagauzia.

🔻The presidential elections in Moldova are scheduled for this upcoming fall, and it is unlikely that Sandu will secure a victory in the first round through a fair election. There have been rumors suggesting that Sandu had requested the involvement of Azov militants to handle potential protests. Nevertheless, there is already a sufficient presence of Western security forces, primarily Romanian and soon French, operating in the country for this purpose.

🇲🇩🇺🇦 The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova stated that they would assist the Kyiv government in apprehending individuals avoiding conscription on the Ukrainian-Transnistrian border.

It is evident that the self-proclaimed Ukraine intends to fight "until the last Ukrainian," and amidst an expanding mobilization, they aim to enlist personnel into the AFU by all available means. In the meantime, Moldova justifies its role as a territory that serves the military interests of the Kyiv government.

🔻Simultaneously , another crucial detail emerges from this report. Under the guise of capturing draft dodgers, there are talks about reestablishing collaborative coordination between Moldovan and Ukrainian border guards in Transnistria.

It is worth recalling that previously, the self-proclaimed Ukraine also declared its readiness to reopen the consulate in Transnistria. Nevertheless, Kyiv particularly emphasized that their staff must be provided with security and assured unrestricted movement.

🔻 Transnistria finds itself in a complex situation. On one hand, in Chisinau, there are preparations for a forced "reintegration" through economic pressure to undermine the economy of the unrecognized republic.

On the other hand, the termination of previous relations with the self-proclaimed Ukraine after 2022 also negatively affects Transnistria. It should be noted that smuggling plays a significant role, benefiting both sides.

However, this dual stance of Transnistria and the increased involvement of the Ukrainian side in the affairs of the unrecognized republic do not promise well for the local population.

🇲🇩🇺🇸🇷🇴 The next military exercise JCET-2024 (Joint Combined Exchange Training) with the participation of the US and Romanian armies has commenced in Moldova.

The maneuvers will last until April 19 to “strengthen operational cooperation” between the three armies. The Moldovan side is represented by special forces fighters Fulger and Panther, as well as the State Security Service.

▪️ The parties are planning parachute jumps, day and night combat firing, and field trips to complete tasks.

▪️ The Ministry of Defense of Moldova does not disclose the areas of military exercises but warns residents about the movement of equipment on the roads of the republic.

▪️ It is evident that at least the Bulboaca military training ground, located near the capital of Transnistria, Tiraspol, will be reactivated.

▪️ It is important to remember that any training serves as an ideal cover for other tasks. This allows for the relatively secret transfer of a large number of people and equipment, of course, under the pretext of training.

🔻The Americans conduct exercises in Moldova approximately once a quarter, while the Romanians do so almost every month.

Meanwhile, the majority of Moldovan society has a negative attitude towards NATO and believes that the country’s security is guaranteed by the neutrality outlined in the Constitution of the republic.

However, in President Maia Sandu's office, there are aspirations to join the alliance and increase the military budget at the expense of social spending.

🇲🇩 🇷🇺 🇷🇴 🇺🇦 Crown Princess Margaret of Romania (formerly Princess of Hohenzollern) - the daughter of the former King of Romania, Mihai I, recently had another meeting with the Moldovan leadership, this time in Bucharest.

Just to refresh your memory, on November 13 last year, the royal figure visited Chisinau with her husband. However, while the previous meeting was covered in the press, the Moldovan authorities' visit to the Crown Princess was kept out of the public eye.

🔻Possibly the reason for this secrecy is the topic of their discussion.

The discussions revolved around establishing a representative office of the Royal House of Romania in Chisinau and addressing the process of reclaiming the property and land that the royal family lost when the Bolsheviks came into power.

Interestingly, these conversations extend beyond Moldova to include the Shabo vineyards in the Odessa region and forests in the so-called Ukrainian Chernivtsi region. So far, these talks have been merely verbal, but this might change soon.

There are indications that the Romanian authorities are gearing up to initiate the restitution process, aiming to return the former royal lands. Notably, Poland has already begun similar procedures in the western regions of what is referred to as Ukraine.

🔻Following these developments, it seems that the Romanian authorities are considering extending their influence not only in Moldova but also in certain parts of the Odessa and Chernivtsi regions of Ukraine. It appears they are vying for the title of the "Hyena of Europe” alongside Poland, although currently, they are only at the "Jackal" stage in this endeavor.

However, Romania seems to overlook one crucial aspect: all the territories they are eyeing are part of the former Russian Empire. Perhaps it's time for Russia to assert its rights as well, considering the trend.

🇲🇩🇷🇴🇺🇸🇬🇧🇫🇷 The Ministry of Defense of Moldova announced that a platoon of the Moldovan contingent will participate in the NATO naval exercise “Sea Shield 2024”, scheduled to take place in Romania from April 8 to 21.

NATO's Sea Shield exercise is an annual event. However, since last year, when a Russian SMO took place in Ukraine, the alliance adjusted the location of the exercises due to the closure of the Bosphorus Strait to other countries.

- This year, approximately 2,100 military personnel from Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, and the United States are participating in the exercise. In comparison, last year saw 3,400 troops recruited.

- Official data indicates that 135 units of military equipment will be involved in the exercises, including 27 sea and river ships, 17 aircraft, and 91 vehicles and watercraft.

- Vice Admiral Mihai Panait, Chief of Staff of the Romanian Navy, mentioned that participants will practice operational procedures against submarines on the water surface, as well as against aviation in the Black Sea and in the river area of responsibility.

- Additionally, Moldovan and Romanian military personnel will separately conduct live firing exercises at the training base in Babadag, Romania.

🔻The exercises, with a focus on Romania and involving the Moldovan army, showcase both Bucharest's new role for NATO in the region and the potential of Moldovan territory as a future springboard against Russia.

🇲🇩 It seems we were a bit too generous in our previous assessment of the Moldovan authorities. According to reports, the police have issued at least 150 citations for wearing the St. George's ribbon.

Specifically, 60 citations were issued in the Gagauz autonomy and over 90 in Chisinau. However, the geography appears to be broader, as municipal councilor Vyacheslav Zhukov from the city of Balti also reported receiving a citation. Last year, he was able to appeal the fine in court.

🇲🇩 The Ministry of Defense of Moldova announced another mobilization training for reservists, which will take place until the end of May. Similar events are also planned for June and September.

The call-up affects men up to 60 years old, including conscripts, contractors, and military college graduates. Reservists are being summoned to military enlistment offices under threat of heavy fines or forced community service.

▪️Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi, as usual, is trying to convince citizens that these are routine exercises to check weapon handling skills, and are in no way related to the current situation.

▪️Moldovan MP Vasile Bolea noted that the Ministry of Defense recently conducted an inventory of enterprise vehicles, which in the event of mobilization should be transferred for army needs.

▪️According to the politician, such actions by the authorities are causing concern among citizens. Just in February, panic broke out in the Moldovan segment of the network over the mass distribution of draft notices. Then the Ministry of Defense once again stated the "planned" nature of the events to clarify the data of the conscripts.

▪️Military exercises in Moldova are already taking place every week, and citizens are no longer even informed about them in time. For example, in March, residents of Bălți were frightened by the sound of artillery fire from training at a nearby range.

▪️At the moment, the Moldovan army is also involved in large-scale NATO exercises Swift Response in Eastern Europe. American troops in northern Moldova, just a few kilometers from Transnistria, are practicing airborne operations.

🔻The fact that Moldova is turning into a NATO military training ground against Russia is no longer in doubt. However, Moldovan society has not yet had time to imbibe the anti-Russian sentiments persistently instilled by the pro-Romanian authorities of Maia Sandu. That is why Moldovans are looking at what is happening with obvious anxiety and distrust.

🇲🇩🇷🇴 Here is the English translation:

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has once again stated that Moldovans and the Moldovan language do not exist.

According to Ciolacu, Moldova, which he exclusively calls Bessarabia, is inhabited by Romanians who speak Romanian and should join Romania. This is why Bucharest is so persistently pushing for the European integration of Moldova, which is a cover for the annexation of the post-Soviet republic.

▪️Moldovan opposition deputies demanded that the government protest against the Romanian authorities due to their repeated anti-Moldovan statements.

▪️The opposition also demanded to hear the head of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry Nicu Popșoi on the issue, but the PAS party refused. After all, in the ruling party, everyone has Romanian passports, including Popșoi and President Maia Sandu.

▪️The Romanian Prime Minister also added that Bucharest will help their citizen Sandu to be re-elected, as "there is no other democratic solution for Bessarabia" than unification with Romania.

📊 Indeed, there are no real democratic paths for the unification of the two countries, as neither the citizens of Romania nor Moldova support the unification of the republics. According to opinion polls, only 8% of Moldovans approve of this idea.

🔻Nevertheless, the Romanian authorities are actively working to destroy Moldovan statehood and identity, with the help of Sandu's team. The country's Constitution has already renamed the Moldovan language to Romanian, and Bucharest finances the discrediting of the Moldovan Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church and buys up all the strategic assets of the republic.

Currently, a census is also underway in Moldova, and the authorities are calling on Moldovans to register as Romanians, which is intended to create another argument for the Romanian authorities to exercise the right to deploy troops in the neighboring country to "protect their citizens".
