🇷🇴✈️⚡️ Romania is going to build a new airport to accommodate the inhabitants of the cities of Galați and Brăila.

The cities of Galați and Brăila are only 21 km apart and represent Romania’s two major ports on the Danube and shipyards behind Constanța on the Black Sea. They have a combined population of over 400k people and are not currently served by any airport.

This new infrastructure project will help make travel easier to both cities as, sadly, both Brăila and Galați but also neighbouring cities like Focșani, Bârlad, Tecuci as well as the southern region of Moldova meaning the Cahul district and Gagauzia.

The airport will be built on a 250 ha plot of land close to the villages of Braniștea, Slobozia Conachi and Tudor Vladimirescu.

The runway will be 3.5 km long, it will have a passenger and cargo terminal with 9 gates in the passenger terminal. The airport will be environmentally friendly with plenty of solar panels, vehicle charging stations, a video surveillance system with integrated AI, intelligent lighting systems and the best luggage scanners.

So far the Galați County Council has convinced ROMATSA to map out the airspace which it will have to lease to the airport’s administration. The matter of who will fund the construction has not been settled yet.

🇺🇸⚡️🇸🇪🇪🇪🇷🇴🇷🇺 Russian channel Rybar on Telegram:

"🇺🇸🇺🇸 Swift Response or how NATO is testing logistics on the eastern flank

The day before yesterday we wrote that one of the stages of the NATO Swift Response exercise will take place in Moldova. But where does such attention come from to seemingly yet another exercise of the North Atlantic Alliance?

It’s all about not only scale, but also application purposes.

▪️The exercise, in which airborne units play a central role, is taking place in several areas simultaneously. This time the honor was given to Romania, Estonia and the new bloc member Sweden. Participants in the exercises are being flown in planes, helicopters and armored vehicles from Germany, Hungary, Poland and North Macedonia.

▪️The scenario involves the deployment of airborne units to the destination area, the landing of allied forces and conducting real shooting at NATO training grounds in these three countries.

▪️The use of airborne assault in the current realities of military operations is not as effective as it was before (the special operation in the so-called Ukraine proved this), so the main meaning of these exercises looks somewhat different.

📌 In fact, the Alliance checks the readiness of its units to quickly enter the conflict zone by using not only the air component, but also the railway, sea, and road components, which is what we observe in the initial stages of Swift Response when transferring forces to Sweden, Estonia and Romania.

To increase the logistics capabilities of the Alliance, active work is underway to build railway lines and highways in the Baltic states and Eastern Europe. And with the advent of Scandinavia in the NATO camp, emphasis was placed on practicing the transfer of forces and assets by sea.

🇷🇴⚔️🇹🇷🇹🇷 The Romanian Declaration of Independence 9-10th May 1877

Meanwhile others celebrate today the end of WW2 under the form of the liberal-progressive “Day of Europe” or the Russian-Sovietophilic “Victory Day”, real Romanians celebrate our country’s independence.

Although the Declaration of Independence was read in front of the Romanian Parliament by the foreign minister, Mihail Kogălniceanu, on May 9th the actual war declaration against the Ottoman Empire came a day later on May 10th.

This declaration put an end to 460 years of Ottoman domination over the Danubian Principalities. At the time, the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 broke out a few months earlier and the United Principalities had already broke its vassal treaty by giving the Russian armies the right to freely travel to its territory and attack the Turkish forces defending Bulgaria.

The Russians initially refused to employ the help of the Romanian Army even after declaring independence as they did not want to give territorial concessions to Romania but after failing to conquer the fortified town of Pleven/Plevna twice, the Russian commander in the area, Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich Romanov sent a telegram to Bucharest asked for military support from Romania. The Romanian prince, Karl Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen said he would agree under the condition that the Russian forces fall under his command, condition which was accepted.

The Russians were now reinforced by an 80k strong Romanian Army. The new plan employed by Prince Karl/Carol was to lay siege to the town and cut the town’s supply lines as the Russians failed to to stop the Ottomans from receiving reinforcements and ammunition, and starve out the Turks. The plan worked, and in addition to several strategic assaults on Turkish defences like the Grivița redoubt aiming to put pressure and force a breakout, caused the Ottoman commander to give up and surrender to the Romanian command, which deeply angered the Russians.

🇲🇩 It seems we were a bit too generous in our previous assessment of the Moldovan authorities. According to reports, the police have issued at least 150 citations for wearing the St. George's ribbon.

Specifically, 60 citations were issued in the Gagauz autonomy and over 90 in Chisinau. However, the geography appears to be broader, as municipal councilor Vyacheslav Zhukov from the city of Balti also reported receiving a citation. Last year, he was able to appeal the fine in court.

— Admin’s note: Moldovan authorities banned the display of St. George’s Ribbon in Moldova but all the fines given last year were later voided by courts and the same thing will probably happen this year too.

🇲🇩🇷🇺🇷🇺 Videos and images from the “Immortal regiment” parade in Chișinău and the flower laying ceremony at the “Eternity” complex memorial.

The parade went without incident or major obstacle other than some participants receiving fines for using the ribbon of St. George.

🇲🇩🇪🇺🎉 In parallel, the “Day of Europe” was celebrated by liberal and progressives in Moldova. The crowds at both events were similar in numbers although with a stark difference: if the “Victory Day” was dominated by Russian speakers, the “Day of Europe” was dominated by Romanian speakers.

🇲🇩🇪🇺🚩 If there’s one thing the both events had in common was the shared hatred of nazism and other fascist ideologies.

Some participants at the pro-EU event burned a ribbon of St. George to protest “Russian imperialism, racism, fascism and chauvinism” which they also equate with the USSR.
