This is #hanitazerowastedress in size 14 for my mum. To see more dress styling options go about 4 posts back and watch full video! πŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ’œπŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€Žβ€οΈπŸ’›

I couldn’t find any suitable fabric with nice pattern on, only plain colour. The dress would be a bit boring without anything on… so I decided to paint the same desire as on my prototype size 10, but instead to use fabric paint to apply the design on! The prototype dress has design made with iron paint and eco dyed with eucalyptus leaves.
.
The painted pattern will be adapted for each size and will be included with the dress pattern so that you can create the same dress yourself! πŸ₯°πŸ™ƒπŸ’›πŸ˜ŽπŸ–€πŸ’šπŸ§‘β€οΈπŸ’œπŸ€ŽπŸ’™

Such a pleasant feeling seeing all the fabric pieces coming together into a dress with no scraps left… πŸ₯°
This is 100% viscose fabric my friend brought me for #hanitazerowastedress sample in size 20. I pre washed it and was about to start marking and cutting it, when I came across a very unpleasant problem… Fabric selvedge is stretched tremendously and thus is much longer than the middle! 😫 At the store it was measured along the selvedge for cutting. My friend bought just over 3m. After washing it shrunk a bit, but the selvedge still remained much longer! And by the length measurement in the middle I don’t have enough to cut the dress! If you were wondering, I did square the fabric by thread pulling, so I know for sure that it is not simply badly cut, but the selvedge did stretch a lot and became longer. WHAT DO I DO?..
.
Do you think I gave up? Oh no! I think there is always a solution! So what I did, I cut the 5cm strips from the selvedge first. Then I spread the barbican on the floor as straight as I possibly could. Marked the dress pieces as per instructions. With one little exception which I will reveal later.
.
Because there is more length at the selvedge, I could mark all the pattern pieces as per instructions. The only thing I needed to correct was dress hem. Because there is less length in the middle I had to mark more off the dress side seams to level the hem. I substrates 12cm instead of 8 recommended.
.
Now let’s cut the dress!

Nearly at the end of #memademay I decided to post something handmade too! ☺️ During our recent trip to Kryal Castle Medieval Festival I was wearing a handmade medieval themed outfit for three days! It is not all visible on the pictures from the trip as it was damn cold and I was wearing all the layers at all times! πŸ˜† What I was wearing:
.
🧡Medieval Kirtle style dress made from 100% linen. More pictures and a video are coming in my next few posts. You can also read more about zero waste pattern I developed for it on my blog, link in bio. πŸ’™
🧡 Hooded cape made from vintage woolen fabric that came with a label β€œwoven in the British Isles”. It is not 100% zero waste, but very low waste pattern. I posted a video about it 9 posts earlier. πŸ’™
🧡 Medieval head wrap (featured on the first picture) and a silk head cover with a tooled leather head belt (later images). Downloadable pattern for the head wrap is available from my website for a donation of your choice! πŸ’™
🧡Tooled leather belt and a handbag. πŸ’™
🧡 And finally, something you can’t see, but it kept me very warm throughout - low waste thermal wool leggings. Downloadable pattern is also available from my website for a donation of your choice! πŸ’™
