RIP Walter Smith.

This was Walter Smith’s first SPL title triumph in his second spell as Rangers manager. He’d previously masterminded the Gers becoming champions of Scotland on six occasions.

This time it was the start of 3 in a row which took The Boss’s final tally to 10 SPL titles. Victory on 24th May 2009 was secured by an impressive 3-0 win at Dundee United. The players and their manager immediately returned to Ibrox to celebrate with their fans on the night of their triumph. Across the other side of Glasgow, bitter rivals Celtic had been stunned into silence when they were held to a goal-less draw by Hearts, which saw them fall 4 points short of the champions.

Filmmaker John Gubba was on the pitch with Smith and his all-conquering heroes to capture this memorable footage for all Rangers fans.
