Cittie of Yorke - 22 High #Holborn, #London #WC1V ๐Ÿป

This elegant, cavernous pub isn't as old as it looks but it's packet with character. Inside is an impressive long bar & charming wooden booths. They don't make them like this anymore more..

Princess Louise [Open]

Address: 208 High #Holborn, #London #WC1V 7EP

This Grade II listed building is decked out with stunning features such as snob screens and elaborate walkways. A glorious step into our glorious past where even the toilets are listed!

Ye Old Mitre - #Holborn ๐Ÿป
1 Ely Ct, Ely Pl, #London #EC1N

Allegedly dated from 1547 this fascinating pub is said to protect a maypole/tree danced around by Queen Elizabeth I and exists as one of #Londons oldest, most famous #Pubs.

I recognised this image immediately, this is a 1913 photograph of #StaplesInn, an amazing part-Tudor building on the south side of High #Holborn street in the City of #London. The building still looks like this today!

This a summary of Gin Palaces & their connection to the "#GloriousRevolution". We look at a beautiful Pub styled on a trend designed to hide its nefarious nature.

The public houses of London are treasure troves of political and social history. Some of our episodes touch on the history of a property, others the culture and climate of the pubs which saw our best and worst during their toughest and their greatest times. ๐Ÿบ @Britains___Pubs

Have you noticed these windows? The "bullseye" was caused by a Mediaeval window making practice. Considered scrap, thus sold cheaper. I adore the character it adds, especially knowing their style won't be repeated deliberately. @Yeoldemitre #Holborn, #London

St Etheldreda's (Roman Catholic church) in Ely Place, off Charterhouse Street, #Holborn, #London is 1 of the 2 surviving in #London from Edward I's reign, dating between 1250/1290. It's dedicated to ร†thelthryth, or Etheldreda, the #AngloSaxon saint who founded the monastery in 673. Notice how the door is beautifully attached to the terrace houses beside it.
