In 17th century #Stratford, #London, this was the site of ‘The Swan’ pub & holsterie & existed as a very vital stop for omnibus terminus, & later for coaches & trams as their final stop before entering the #CityOfLondon. The area has declined since.

When I was tiny, I looked at the estates and thought I’d love to see them all torn down. I thought in my young naive age, that modernism was a good thing and that the entire place should be rebuilt to better represent #London as a whole. However, when the process began, though I was still young, it became apparent that my childhood dream would in fact become a living nightmare throughout my adulthood.

- In reference to #Stratford on the lead up to the 2012 #Olympic games, the one's which ruthlessly tore apart my home and heart.

Banned from Edward VII pub in #Stratford due to an overly clueless, rude landlord who didn't realise what a public house actually is. Tried aggressively telling us we need permission to take photos before being educated. Obviously, he doesn't realise what a PUBLIC house is.. Mug

This building is one of the few reminders of my youth within the area of #Stratford. The #Olympic site was a prime excuse to rid east #London of all character, as well as its characters.

How to utterly DESTROY #London!
The historic cobbled streets & warehouses of #ButlerWharfs in #ShadThames (#TowerBridge - St Saviour's Dock) are something I consider very dear to me. Like most of what I love & miss, others have tried to "FIX" that which was never broken.

What this stunning complex of wharves, warehouses, and mills really needs are tacky, unattractive bits of steel and glass slapped on as if designed by a lazy child. That will make the place look much better, In fact, nock it down. We need a new #Stratford.

In my youth, the area of #Stratford/#Hackney was always a place for the less fortunate to find refuge or for the lower classes to start a business of their own. Now, even the slums that once hid us from the world are being used to replace the places that once brought us together.

I turned a corner I've turned so many times only to be met by an empty space in which I've never seen. It's hard enough to find character among the new builds of today, yet we're destroying the few unique structures we have. This can only ensure a bland, cultureless future.
