Israel has closed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Holy Week and Easter services will be prohibited. Sunday masses and liturgies cancelled. A church that should be packed with hundreds of thousands these coming weeks is being forcibly shut and silenced.

Israel cites it is for ‘security concerns.’

Alongside the forced closure of Al-Aqsa mosque, reports cite priests are aggressively being turned away from being able to perform daily services.

Throughout history, wars, tensions, or even the Covid era limited access to the sanctuary, but they had never prevented liturgical celebrations in this central place of Christian faith indefinitely.

Harry Houdini made the first controlled, powered, and sustained flight in Australia on March 18, 1910, at Diggers Rest, Victoria, in a French Voisin biplane. He completed three flights that day, with the longest lasting 3 minutes and 37 seconds, covering over three miles and reaching an altitude of 100 feet. The flight was witnessed by at least nine people, including rival aviator Ralph C. Banks, and verified by a certificate signed by spectators. Houdini, already world-famous as an escapologist, had brought the $5,000 Voisin biplane to Australia specifically for this attempt, aiming to beat local aviators. His flight was recognized by the Aerial League of Australia and later commemorated with monuments and centenary events in Diggers Rest. A notable follow-up flight on March 21, 1910, lasted 7 minutes 37 seconds, covering at least 6 miles and reaching 100 feet, further cementing his place in aviation history.
