The caucus aims to oppose what its members describe as the influence or spread of Sharia law in the United States, asserting that Sharia is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution, American values, and Western civilization.

As of February 2026, the caucus has grown to 33 members from 18 states, including prominent figures such as Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-06) and Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15). The group held its first-ever press conference on February 4, 2026, alongside U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), to highlight concerns about the "alarming rise" of Sharia in America.

Key Positions and Activities:
Legislative Goals: Promote bills such as the "Pause Act" and the "Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act", which aim to block visas for individuals who advocate for Sharia or are considered "Islamists."
Immigration Focus: Advocate for stricter immigration policies to prevent individuals who support Sharia from entering the U.S., arguing that assimilation into American values is essential.
Public Messaging: Claim that Sharia law undermines freedom of speech, religion, and women’s rights, and cite developments like the proposed "Muslim-only" Meadows community in Texas and incidents involving imams as evidence of growing influence.
Criticism: Civil rights groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), argue that such efforts are discriminatory, unnecessary, and could infringe on Muslims’ First Amendment rights, as Sharia is a religious and ethical framework, not a legal system imposed by the state in the U.S.
Despite the lack of documented efforts to implement Sharia law in U.S. courts or government, the caucus continues to push for legislative and cultural resistance to what it views as a threat to national identity and constitutional governance.
