VENEZUELA AND RUSSIA RAMP UP ECONOMIC TIES WITH 10-YEAR PLAN
Venezuela and Russia have signed agreements on energy, trade, financial, transport, military, agricultural, and pharmaceutical cooperation, among other areas.
The trade deals, which form part of a 10-year agenda, were the result of five technical meetings held in Caracas as part of the High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) framework. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, who led the Kremlin commission, met with President Nicolás Maduro, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, and Oil Minister Tareck El Aissami.

On Monday, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez revealed that three letters have been sent to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Security Council President Dang Dinh Quy and the Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).

New economic indicators revealed Venezuela has left hyperinflation territory as the economy struggles under US-led sanctions and the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Venezuelan Finance Observatory (OVF), an economic office that responds to US-backed opposition, monthly inflation dropped to record lows at 9.1 percent in March. The accumulated inflation in 2021 now stands at 155.3 percent, and interannual at 3,867 percent.
