What's this, a font for ants? No, a font made of ants! Les Ouvrières is our latest release. Designed by Laure Azizi; it presents letters completely made of ant modules that swarm and giggle around the page. Ants swarm through the forest in search of succulent crumbs. Sometimes hungry, sometimes fighters, they adapt their formations along two variable axes to create six styles, so they can adapt to any situation. They guide us through the winding galleries, perhaps all the way to the queen? Go download Les Ouvrières now and enjoy :) https://velvetyne.fr/fonts/ouvrieres/

Few images of our collaborative posters for the "lettre d'amour" exhibition at the Bel Ordinaire in Pau (France). This exhibition is a wonderful tribute to typography and the people involved. Many thanks to La Maison des Éditions, Julien Bidoret, Ivan Bléhaut and the others.

📢 Welcome Pilowlava Atome!

Guess what? We were contacted some time ago to create a custom version of Pilowlava!

So, we're thrilled to introduce Pilowlava Atome, a new style added to the Regular, featuring perforations in the letters to mimic climbing holds. This custom version of Pilowlava, designed by Anton Moglia, is created specifically for our friends at the Atome climbing gym in Annecy, France. 🧗‍♂️

This project draws inspiration from the Graphic Designer and Art Director Gabriel Robert, who created a poster and a t-shirt for Atome's anniversary with perforations in the letters.

Pilowlava Atome is available today at Velvetyne!

We are delighted to invite you to the launch of Velvelyne!

Join us at Librairie Météores (Rue Blaes 207, 1000 Brussels) on Saturday, March 15, from 7 PM onwards. We can’t wait to share the specimen with you, play with letters, and celebrate this birth together 🧩
Velvelyne is a typeface designed for the Velvetyne website in 2023 by Manon Van der Borght and Mariel Nils. It will be published on velvetyne.fr under the CUTE license, written by Bye Bye Binary.

Its skeleton was shaped by a script imagined by Benjamin Dumond. Under the orchestration of Raphaël Bastide, its forms sprouted from Liberation Sans. Manon and Mariel then carefully nurtured this stroke font skeleton until it grew branches and flourishes. As it evolved, it expanded into four weights and post-binary ligatures 💌.

Thanks to Ludi for her help and her plotter to make the flyer!
(It's tomorrow evening, sorry for the late announcement)
Out now! Velvelyne, the custom font displayed everywhere on our website, is finally available for download (some of you have asked by mail how to get it, now it's finally available).

Velvelyne was born from the skeleton or center line of Liberation Sans, which was treated with a script coded by Benjamin Dumont and executed by Raphaël Bastide. Manon Van der Borght and Mariel Nils then took care of this skeleton until it developed its branches and assumed its outgrowths.

Please be aware that this typeface isn't published under the usual SIL OFL license, but under the CUTE Conditions which restrict the use of the font files under certain conditions (such as big companies). Cheers!
