MS/PhD and Postdoc/Research Engineer Positions at Georgia Tech Smart City Infrastructure Lab: Infrastructure Asset Management, Transportation Safety, and Senior Mobility:

The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is ranked #1 in Civil Engineering in the U.S. according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report. The GT Smart City Infrastructure (GT-SCI) Lab is led by Dr. James Tsai, a Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and an adjunct professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Georgia Tech.
GT-SCI is actively seeking innovative and driven candidates for Master's, Ph.D., and Postdoctoral positions, as well as Research Engineers, who are passionate about applying cutting-edge technologies to solve real-world problems. Our interdisciplinary research team spans Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Science (CS), and Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISYE), and is engaged in groundbreaking work.
Our research focuses on developing innovative technologies, methodologies, and applications, using a) emerging sensing technologies (3D laser, Lidar technologies, 2D imaging, smart phone, IMU, Electric Vehicles (EV), Drone, and Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV), eye tracking devices, etc.), and b) data science (AI, computer vision, and GIS spatial-temporal analysis) to address 4 major societal challenges that are the sustainability and resiliency of 1) Infrastructure, 2) Transportation Safety, 3) Safe Mobility of Seniors/Aging Population, and 4) Transportation Energy and Carbon-Emission Reduction. We have changed the US in the first research focus (infrastructure sustainability and resiliency). We have already made changes on professional practices and polies in the research focuses of 1) and 2).
We are particularly interested in the individuals who want to use emerging sensor technologies and data science in intelligent transportation system (ITS) to address our societal challenge (transportation safety and mobility) to save time and money for transportation agencies to save lives.

🔻بنیاد ملی علم ایران به عنوان نهاد ملی حمایت از پژوهش و فناوری کشور و در راستای دستیابی به آرمان مرجعیت علمی، در نظر دارد با هدف جهت‌دهی علمی و ترغیب دانشجویان دکتری به تحقیق و مطالعه در حوزه‌های مهم، کلیدی و آینده‌دار پژوهشی، در قالب رساله‌های دکتری به‌طور ویژه حمایت نماید.

🔸این فراخوان به مدت ۲ سال از آذرماه ۱۴۰۳ تا آذرماه ۱۴۰۵ اجرا می‌گردد و مدت حمایت از رساله‌های دانشجویان دکتری تا ۲ سال و مبلغ حمایت تا ۲۵۰ میلیون تومان جهت کمک به دانشجو و تا سقف ۵۰ میلیون تومان جهت کمک به تأمین هزینه‌های طرح به استاد راهنما خواهد بود.

سخنرانی علمی: Self-organizing Nervous System در سامانه‌های چندرباته و ربات‌های Swarm

با افتخار میزبان دکتر آریو جمشیدپی هستیم؛ پژوهشگر برجسته در حوزه‌های Robotics، Artificial Intelligence و Distributed Algorithms. ایشان دارای دو مدرک دکتری در زمینه‌های Multi-Robot Systems و Swarm Robotics از Université Libre de Bruxelles و University of Ottawa هستند و سابقه فعالیت در دانشگاه‌های Toronto و Waterloo را دارند.

در این سخنرانی، دکتر جمشیدپی به معرفی چارچوب Self-organizing Nervous System (SoNS) می‌پردازد؛ یک روش ترکیبی در کنترل که به تیمی از ربات‌ها اجازه می‌دهد تا به‌صورت خودسازمان‌یافته، یک ساختار ارتباطی سلسله‌مراتبی ایجاد کرده و همزمان از مزایای کنترل متمرکز و غیرمتمرکز بهره‌مند شوند.
