🔹 Parviz Sorouri, Vice Chairman of the Islamic City Council of Tehran, visited the Tehran Urban Research and Planning Center, where he toured various sections of the Center and was briefed on the activities of its research groups.
🔹 The visit was accompanied by Ali Shamsipour, Head of the Center; Ghaem Shariati, Deputy for Development and Research Coordination; and a number of the Center’s directors. During the visit, Sorouri was briefed on the Center’s research activities, the implementation of major urban studies projects, and its research structures and mechanisms.
🔹 Such visits represent an important step toward further strengthening the link between the City Council’s policymaking and sound scientific research and evidence-based studies.

🔶 Shamsipour: International Section Returns to the Research and Innovation Festival After Three Years
Speaking on the Salam Khabarnegar program, Ali Shamsipour, Head of the Tehran Urban Research and Planning Center, said:
🔹 The Research and Innovation Festival has now become a well-established event in the field of urban management, bringing together research and scholarly works in this field to identify and recognize the most outstanding submissions. In the latest edition, we received 1,830 submissions from university professors, researchers, experts, and students from various universities.
🔹 A total of 29 international submissions were received in this edition, three of which—from Pakistan, Indonesia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina—were selected. All submissions underwent a three-stage review process across 26 thematic areas, with 101 scholars and experts in urban management serving on the judging panels.

🔷 The Farahzad Ecosystem Management Zone in Tehran has received a Certificate of Merit at the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026, in recognition of its creative, innovative, and noteworthy approach to urban greening.
🔹 Representing Tehran, the initiative was developed and documented through the research and knowledge-development efforts of the Tehran Urban Research and Planning Center (TURPC), in coordination with the Center for Communications and International Affairs of Tehran Municipality, and within the framework of Tehran Municipality’s broader urban management and sustainable development efforts.
🔹The recognition was conferred following the assessment of the AIPH World Green City Awards Technical Panel, which identified the initiative as deserving of special recognition for its approach to urban greening.

🔷 Speaking on the vision for Tehran, Alireza Zakani, Mayor of Tehran, emphasized the Municipality’s commitment to developing Tehran as a model city through meaningful citizen participation and a people-centered approach to urban management.
🔷He noted that effective urban management extends beyond infrastructure and public services, requiring coordinated action across cultural, economic, social, and infrastructural domains in response to citizens’ needs and priorities.
