Portable Fire Extinguisher Hanging Height
A portable Fire Extinguisher is an item of equipment to extinguish a fire.
It is effective only for the type and size of a fire it is rated for.
As per NFPA 10, Clause no. 6.1.3.8, the top point of the extinguishers has two heights for installation, as its installation height will depend on the weight of the fire extinguisher.
If the weight of the fire extinguisher is less than 18 Kilograms, the maximum distance from its top to the FFL will be 1.5 meters.
But, if the weight of the extinguisher is more than 18 Kilograms (except the mobile or wheel type), the maximum distance from its top to the FFL will be almost one meter.
Where 40 lb almost equals 18 Kg.
In all cases, the distance from the bottom of the extinguisher to the FFL shall be more than 10 Cm.
