● Attempt all the 20 questions can compromise on quality but paper completion is must.
● In ethics -> Paragraph but in other gs bullet points
● Way forward in all answers, Contemporary touch to questions(mainly in geo)
● In 1st five min brainstorming 15 markers.
● Start from Q11 15 markers (11 min each ) then Q1 10 markers(7 min each).
● In GS 3 --> Material of prelims to be revise for science portion.
● Try to write closer to question if you do not have idea about question.
● In GS4 --> for case studies Clubbing the sub parts (A&B) together.
➢ Read lot of case studies(around 100) before exam to get idea of case studies in exam . Get your
components ready to use in exam.

Prelims 2025 Paper Analysis

The 2025 Prelims paper leaned heavily on Economy and Science & Tech, with more weightage than usual — a shift from the Geography-heavy 2024 paper.


Subject-wise Snapshot:

Economy & Science-Tech: High weightage, analytical in nature — required both conceptual clarity and current updates.
Environment: A mix of factual recall and applied concepts — circular economy, GHGs, environmental treaties, etc.
History: Balanced between easy and tricky, with a noticeable tilt toward Ancient and Medieval over Modern.
Geography: Analytical focus — questions on isotherms, winds, soil types, and continental drift stood out.
Polity: about deep understanding of constitutional provisions, ordinances, and federal structure.

International Relations: More contemporary — Mineral Security Partnership, NATO etc

Desi Analysis( More relevant for Aspirants) :

The paper resembled the 2021/2023 pattern more than 2022 or 2024.
Multiple concepts were blended in single questions.
The randomness factor increased — requiring presence of mind.
Many techniques we discussed in class worked well:
Comparison traps, interchanged options, word associations, etc.
As expected, PYQs were repeated — Araghatta, Isotherms being notable examples.

1) Polity & Constitution

🌟 Cover all topics mentioned in the syllabus.
Laxmikant will only be a base here, for specific details you will have to refer to other online sources (blogs of various coaching institutes)
🌟 For all topics that are in news, you will have to prepare own notes (you can refer Vision mains 365).
For example, last year - hate speech, prison reforms, contempt of court &c were in news. You will not find these topics in detail in any standard book.
🌟 Create a value addition notes with you for all relevant topics that you believe could be asked, from newspapers, magazines, books of various institutes...QEP by Mk Yadav sir or Vision IAS manis 365
🌟 Try and find out relevant Supreme Court or other constitutional court judgements on important issues (especially those in news),
🌟Make a list of important articles of the Constitution that you need to remember.
If you mention them (number) along with the text (need not be mutatis mutandis) in your answers that will fetch you few extra marks.
🌟 Try and remember Recent amendments..

2) Governance
✨️Cover all topics mentioned in the syllabus. I did not refer to any book here, I covered it from OnlyIAS Prahaar notes..
For those who are not taking any coaching, you can refer to various online sources. Also prepare a two line intro and conclusion for all topics. (If you look at PYQs you will realise that the questions from this section are more or less directly picked from the syllabus)
✨️Try and look at the summary of 2nd ARC (there are many reports). You can quote recommendations from them to enrich your answer.
✨️Value addition - examples/incidents related to all topics (eg: RTI, digital governance, civil services etc)

3) Social Justice

🌟Cover all topics mentioned in the syllabus. I referred to Rau's IAS booklet +Vision Mains 365 you just need to prepare basic notes for education, health, poverty, women empowerment, child welfare and development etc.
🌟Have a good look at all past year questions and prepare your notes accordingly.
🌟Use current affairs (mains 365) for value addition.
🌟 You can also make use of UN SDGs, other govt schemes etc for value addition, Data, charts,

4) International Relations
🌟 I did not have time to go through all basics here. So I simply covered it from Vision Mains 365.
🌟If you have absolutely no idea regarding the history of India's IR with important countries & neighbours, have a look at it by referring to any coaching material(Vajiram and Ravi) or online source. My suggestion would be, do not spend too much time behind historical context etc, just have a glance.
🌟Generally, questions from this section are Current Affairs oriented, so cover them well with respect to India's engagement with each country on all the factors, A historical brief of their relations and how India is dealing it now for future betterment of relations and establishing it's mark in the world.
🌟 For value addition - you can quote lines of some important personalities wrt IR (eg: Dr Jaishankar, Sashi Tharoor etc)

With Mains upcoming in almost 80 days, and a week since Prelims. It's time we should start preparing our optional, ethics and answer writing.
