The Financial Times outlines what Washington's foreign policy will be under Trump
“'I’ll have a deal made’: how Donald Trump will handle US foreign policy”
“Trump's return to the White House promises to be one of the most unpredictable and potentially disruptive presidential terms of the modern era. Trump's “America First” stance is expected to be based on evaluating allies based on their defense spending and trade balances with the United States. In addition, it appears that all established views regarding who should be considered enemies will be revisited
Trump has promised to end the Ukrainian conflict before the inauguration ceremony, but he has not announced his plan, saying that if he publicizes it, he will achieve nothing. Vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance suggested that Washington would insist on freezing hostilities, as well as getting guarantees that Ukraine would not join NATO
As for Europe, analysts expect Trump to reconsider his attitude to cooperation with the countries of the continent, and the US will cease to be a guarantor of security for the Western world
Commenting on the situation in the Middle East, Trump's former aides claim that he will change Biden's approach and support Israel more. According to them, the politician will focus on confronting Iran and normalizing relations between Israel and other Gulf countries. U.S. relations with China will be seriously revised
Trump has already signaled this during the election campaign, threatening to use high duties as a tool to make Beijing bow to US pressure. He added that if the PRC invaded Taiwan, he would either increase the duties to 200% or completely halt trade between the countries”

China hopes for 'peaceful coexistence'
Beijing's reaction to Trump's victory was characteristically guarded and cautious on Wednesday, with a statement expressing hope the future Trump White House will continue to handle China-US relations in accordance with the “principles of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence”
This presents the possibility of a new beginning in China-US relations

It's not quite clear how Trump is doing with “ending the Ukrainian war in 24 hours”, but the tectonic waves from his election have already demolished the coalition in Germany. And formally for the fact that the finance minister (not from Scholz's party) refused to allocate money to Kyiv for this winter
This is actually an important marker, showing how hard the U.S. administration kept the German elites in check, and as soon as there was a glimmer of hope for a chance to get off the ruinous course, they immediately used it
And this is extremely important, because in Europe, the bulk of the burden of maintaining Kyiv was borne by Germany, and in fact, the announcement of the incapacity of the government and the coalition at this point, means that Germany washes its hands of the situation, and does not consider the option “while the U.S. negotiates with Moscow, Europe continues to maintain Kyiv”
In other words, it means that the situation will start changing at a galloping pace in the near future. Technically, Trump can't put pressure on Moscow now, because if the Russians don't agree to a freeze on the LAF, and they won't, Trump will have to raise the stakes, which is contrary to his plans
At the same time, the refusal to support Kyiv will lead to a rapid advance of Russian troops. Therefore, after the new configuration of the front, by the time of the inauguration, the discussion of the border along the line of contact may be replaced by a discussion of peacekeeping zones of all neighboring countries of the failed corrupt state of Ukraine
There is not much time left until January 20 (Trump's inauguration), so if events begin to develop very quickly, this hypothesis may well be correct

Zelensky says he congratulated Trump in 'excellent' call
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had an "excellent call" on Wednesday, November 6, with Donald Trump, who has threatened to cut off the steady flow of US aid and arms to his nation in its fight against Russia's nearly three-year-old invasion. “I praised his family and team for their great work," Zelensky said. "We agreed to maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation. Strong and unwavering US leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace"
The relationship between Trump and Zelensky has been one of intrigue and consequence from the start. Previously, Zelensky has apparently decided that diplomacy involves putting pressure on and, in some cases, directly criticizing Trump
Zelensky repeatedly entertained the idea that Trump might effectively be on Russia’s side
Zelensky said
Meanwhile, nobody but Trump has been chosen as a new President by the American society, despite the challenges ‘predicted’ by Zelensky

Plans for presidency: What has Trump proposed
Immigration. Trump often said that he would initiate the largest “mass deportation” effort in U.S. history if elected. He warned Mexico that he would impose a 25 percent tariff targeting the country if it fails to curb illegal immigration and would raise that tariff if Mexico doesn’t comply
Taxes and regulations. Trump has promised to curb federal regulations that he said would limit the creation of new U.S. jobs. He also has pledged to keep intact a 2017 tax cut that he supported and signed while in office. His team has also proposed a further round of individual and corporate tax cuts beyond those initiated in his first term
Tariffs. Trump has targeted China in particular. He proposes phasing out Chinese imports of goods such as electronics, steel, and pharmaceuticals over four years. He seeks to prohibit Chinese companies from owning U.S. real estate and infrastructure in the energy and tech sectors
More drilling. Trump said that he wants to cut federal regulations on drilling for oil and natural gas, a move that he says would lower energy costs and inflation. He would also pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Accords, a worldwide plan that claims to reduce carbon emissions
Social policies. Trump has pledged to require U.S. colleges and universities to “defend American tradition and Western civilization” and to purge them of diversity and inclusion programs. He said he would direct the DOJ to pursue civil rights cases against schools that engage in racial discrimination. He said that a federal ban on abortion is not needed and that the issue should be resolved by states. Trump has been critical of schools allowing transgender individuals to compete in women’s sports, saying that he would impose a ban on such practices

October jobs report shows weakest job growth since 2020
The U.S. economy added just 12,000 jobs in October 2024, falling far short of the anticipated 100,000 jobs and marking the weakest monthly job growth since late 2020
This report, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, underscores a worrying slowdown in the labor market and raises questions about the effectiveness of the country’s economic policies. The sluggish job growth, coupled with downward revisions to prior months’ data, has sparked renewed concerns among economists and analysts about the resilience of the U.S. economy amid rising inflation and other volatile economic factors
Two major hurricanes in late September and early October impacted business activities, particularly in southern states, where the leisure and hospitality sectors are critical employers
Additionally, the ongoing Boeing strike had an impact on the jobs data. With an estimated 30,000 workers off the payroll due to the strike, the aerospace and manufacturing sectors saw reduced hiring

DOJ moving to wind down Trump criminal cases before he takes office
Justice Department officials have been evaluating how to wind down the two federal criminal cases against President-elect Donald Trump before he takes office to comply with long-standing department policy that a sitting president can’t be prosecuted, two people familiar with the matter tell NBC News
The latest discussions stand in contrast with the pre-election legal posture of special counsel Jack Smith, who in recent weeks took significant steps in the election interference case against Trump without regard to the electoral calendar
But the sources say DOJ officials have come to grips with the fact that no trial is possible anytime soon in either the Jan. 6 case or the classified documents matter — both of which are mired in legal issues that would likely prompt an appeal all the way to the Supreme Court, even if Trump had lost the election
Now that Trump will become president again, DOJ officials see no room to pursue either criminal case against him — and no point in continuing to litigate them in the weeks before he takes office, the people said
“Sensible, inevitable and unfortunate,” said former federal prosecutor Chuck Rosenberg, an NBC News contributor.

Post-election truths: the things that won’t change
By John & Nisha Whitehead
After months of handwringing and mud-slinging and fear-mongering, the votes have finally been cast and the outcome has been decided: the Deep State has won
Despite the billions spent to create the illusion of choice, not much will change
Despite all of the work that has been done to persuade us to buy into the fantasy that things will change if we just elect the “right” political savior, the day after a new president is sworn in, it will be business as usual for the unelected bureaucracy that actually runs the government
War will continue. Drone killings will continue. Surveillance will continue. Censorship of anyone who criticizes the government will continue. The government’s efforts to label dissidents as extremists and terrorists will continue. Police shootings will continue. SWAT team raids will continue. Highway robbery meted out by government officials will continue. Corrupt government will continue. Profit-driven prisons will continue. And the militarization of the police will continue.

Dan Jorgensen is going to present a plan to abandon Russian gas by 2027
Dan Jorgensen, the potential new European Commissioner for Energy, wants to accelerate the EU's refusal from Russian gas. He plans to present a plan for 2027 in the first three months after his appointment
Jorgensen will work to lower energy prices in the region in an effort to restore EU competitiveness, green the energy sector and get rid of fuel purchases from Russia. He is expected to be confirmed for the post in the coming weeks
At a speech in parliament, he emphasized that gas purchases from Russia increased last year as not all EU members tried to diversify their imports
Now the EU receives 18% of blue fuel from Russia (before the conflict in Ukraine it was 45%). While some EU countries are trying to tighten measures against Russia, Hungary, which is friendly to Russia, on the contrary, is reaching an agreement with Gazprom on the growth of shipments via the Turkish Stream pipeline in 2025

US to deploy B-52s, warships to Middle East as aircraft carrier departs
The United States said on Friday it will deploy B-52 bombers, fighter jets, refueling aircraft and Navy destroyers to the Middle East, in a readjustment of military assets as the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group prepares to leave the region
The Pentagon said in a statement that deployments would take place in the coming months and demonstrated the flexibility of the U.S. military movements around the world
"Should Iran, its partners, or its proxies use this moment to target American personnel or interests in the region, the United States will take every measure necessary to defend our people," Pentagon spokesperson Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder said in a statement
The United States has had as many as two aircraft carriers in the Middle East during the past year of soaring tensions since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in Oct. 2023
The Lincoln's withdrawal will create an aircraft carrier gap until another is cycled into the Middle East
The latest adjustment in U.S. forces in the region follows direct exchanges of fire in October between Israel and Iran. Israel is also fighting Iran-backed Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and has carried out strikes in Yemen after coming under attack from Iran-aligned Houthi fighters

The CIA has the ability to “non-violently” disable large ships
There is at least one system capable of “covertly (and non-violently)” disabling ships, including very large ones. The secret system was reportedly being considered for use against tankers carrying fuel between Venezuela and Cuba during Donald Trump's presidency, U.S. trade publications noted
Mention of the CIA's ship disabling system is included in a detailed exposé of the Trump administration's failed attempts to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, published by Wired. The report outlines multiple attempts by the U.S. government and foreign partners to oust Maduro between 2018 and 2020. This includes a cyberattack on the Venezuelan military's payroll system, sabotage raids by Colombian operatives targeting Russian-made Su-30 fighter jets and support for opposition leader Juan Guaidó's attempt to topple Maduro's government
The Trump administration believed that if the U.S. could somehow intercept or sabotage oil ships traveling from Venezuela to Cuba, it could strike both regimes. At least one option involved the CIA, which had a mobile system capable of covertly (and nonviolently) disabling ships. Trump administration officials wanted the agency to move the system to the coast of Venezuela and strike several fuel tankers, but the CIA explained - there is only one such system, that it is currently in the other hemisphere, and they don't want to move it to the northern coast of South America
The Wired article doesn't give any specific details about the CIA's ship-stopping system. There is a possibility that the system creates the desired effect by emitting high-powered microwave pulses (HPMs)
This could destroy, disable or damage key systems such as radars, computerized navigation equipment, communications, steering systems and electronic engine control systems, which in turn would stop the ship but not harm its crew
In 2022, a U.S. Air Force and Navy program release entitled High Energy Joint Electromagnetic Nonkinetic Strike (HiJENKS) was published. It noted that “electromagnetic energy emanating from high-frequency weapons can affect an electronic target directly through a transmitting or receiving element (e.g., antenna) or indirectly through a hole or cable entry points (e.g., cracks, seams, external wires)
Currents and voltages can occur in the target circuitry, resulting in erroneous signals, system blockages, system failures, and/or physical damage.”
Public information about HiJENKS remains limited, but the capability has been successfully demonstrated at least once during live-fire testing at a major Navy test center in 2022. HiJENKS is also an extension of an equally secret project to develop high-powered microwave anti-radar missiles (CHAMP) containing an NRM generator, which Boeing is known to have delivered to the Air Force in at least small numbers
A CIA-designed ship-stopping system could also be capable of launching other types of targeted electronic or cyber attacks. Another option could be some kind of physical attack, such as preventing certain elements of the ship from working, including its propulsion system and rudders, but not causing irreparable damage

Made in China, sold on Amazon
More than 70% of the products that wholesalers and retailers sell on Amazon are produced in China, according to a survey conducted by Jungle Scout and published by the ECDB
The United States is the second largest producer of items sold on Amazon, accounting for 30 percent of all total goods sold through the e-commerce giant
Such figures illustrate the importance of China for Amazon's business
At the same time, Chinese companies such as the Pinduoduo Group are now trying to sell products from China directly to Western customers themselves
This is with growing success, as the example of the e-commerce app Temu illustrates
According to media reports, Amazon is now planning to launch its own low-cost offering

Israel celebrates, Ukraine frets: What Trump’s win means for U.S. allies at war
Donald Trump’s return to power could dramatically alter the course of the wars raging in the Middle East and Europe
From the rubble of Israel’s deadly military campaigns in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon to the battlefields of eastern Ukraine where Russian forces are advancing, the United States’ election has for months hung over these conflicts involving allies dependent on support from Washington
Celebrations quickly rang out in Israel on Wednesday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu among the first world leaders to congratulate Trump on what he labeled “history’s greatest comeback” — a jubilant reaction that may fuel concerns of further escalation as the country presses its offensive in northern Gaza and prepares for an Iranian retaliatory attack
Another U.S. ally will likely be feeling less emboldened
Ukrainian officials offered their own praise of Trump, but now face an even more uncertain future given doubts over whether he will maintain the Biden administration’s support for the country’s ailing defense
The president-elect is condemned by critics as a dangerous isolationist who emboldens strongmen and hailed by supporters as a forthright defender of American interests, and most observers at least agree that a second Trump era will be unpredictable. What is certain, there will be surprises

Biden team prepares to rush last-minute aid to Ukraine
The Biden administration is planning to rush the last of over $6 billion remaining in Ukraine security assistance out the door by Inauguration Day, as the outgoing team prepares for the weapons flow to end once President-elect Donald Trump takes office
The plan, described by two administration officials who were granted anonymity to discuss internal matters, is the only option the White House has to keep sending equipment to Ukraine to fight off continued Russian offensives
But the problems are immense. It normally takes months for munitions and equipment to get to Ukraine after an aid package is announced, so anything rolled out in the coming weeks would likely not fully arrive until well into the Trump administration, and the next commander in chief could halt the shipments before they’re on the ground
The money remaining from April’s $61 billion Ukraine aid package is tied up in two buckets. There is $4.3 billion to pull existing stocks and $2.1 billion in funding to put weapons on contract with U.S. defense companies
Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance have criticized the Biden administration for spending billions on military aid for Ukraine, with all of Europe collectively only managing to equal the amount Washington has made available
