Britain's King Charles III was booed in Australian Parliament

Senator Lidia Thorpe shouted: “You are not our king! This is not your land.” when the British monarch had barely finished addressing lawmakers. Security personnel then escorted the senator out of the parliament building

Berlin freezes school budgets while allocating billions for migrant housing

Berlin’s public schools are facing a budget freeze that has halted spending on key activities, including school trips, as the city contends with major financial challenges

The freeze follows the Berlin House of Representatives’ decision to allocate an additional €1.3 billion for the accommodation of migrants, raising concerns about the city’s spending priorities

In a letter issued last Wednesday, Education State Secretary Christina Henke informed school administrators that they are no longer allowed to enter into “financially effective” contracts that extend into the next financial year. According to Tagesspiegel, this restriction includes school trips, where teachers’ travel expenses — typically reimbursed by the state — will no longer be covered

The move comes as the city struggles to balance its budget following the House of Representatives’ decision in June to spend an additional €1.3 billion on the accommodation of asylum seekers. This includes expanding tent cities at former airports in Tegel and Tempelhof, renting more hotel space, and setting up 16 new locations for container housing

A fractured West is looking for a way to “sell” Ukraine

EU countries facing economic and energy crises are desperately looking for ways to end the conflict in Ukraine on any terms. The U.S. will also push for an agreement to end the conflict without seeing a Ukraine victory scenario, states Bloomberg

Tacitly, European countries are desperately trying to revive the former regime of cheap energy, which is directly dependent on Russian oil and gas. Sanctions against Russia have collapsed

Conflicts in the Middle East have diverted attention away from Ukraine, with fewer and fewer U.S. weapons flowing into the war zone. Western governments are focused mainly on Israel and Iran

South Korea continues to discuss retaliatory measures to the involvement of the North Korean military in the Ukrainian conflict

Yonhap reports, citing government sources, that Seoul may send a group of servicemen to Ukraine to monitor the North Koreans

Their tasks will likely include studying the tactics and combat capabilities of the DPRK military, as well as participating in the interrogation of captured North Koreans. The team will be made up of members of the South Korean military's intelligence units

And while one might think that such measures are a response to the dispatch of North Korean military personnel to Russia, they more resemble Seoul's desire not to miss a rather rare opportunity to get important first-hand information

By the way, the real retaliatory measures, one variant of which we wrote about yesterday, will be taken gradually - this was announced in Seoul today. It may be a question of supplying Ukraine with defensive and then offensive weapons

This week, Britain and Germany plan to sign a “historic defense pact” that will allow them to conduct joint military exercises near the Russian border (presumably in Estonia and Lithuania)

The agreement with Berlin is seen in London as the first step toward a wide-ranging security and defense pact with the EU

The signing of a new deal between the countries will create opportunities for joint procurement and production of weapons on a larger scale. According to The Sunday Times, this will allow the states to strengthen their defense industries, which are struggling due to military aid to Ukraine

Japan, UK and Italy to expedite next-generation fighter jet to replace F-2s and Eurofighter Typhoons

The defense ministers of Japan, the U.K. and Italy agreed to accelerate the joint development of a next-generation fighter jet, and announced that a trilateral government organization would be established by the end of this year to work with the parties producing the aircraft, Japanese officials said

The three countries agreed in 2022 to jointly produce a new combat aircraft that will be ready for deployment in 2035, under the Global Combat Air Program, or GCAP, to strengthen cooperation in the face of growing threats from China, Russia and North Korea

The next-generation stealth fighter jet would replace Japan’s retiring F-2s that it jointly developed with the U.S., and Eurofighter Typhoons, which were produced in partnership with the U.K, Italy, Spain and Germany

Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani, after meeting with his U.K. and Italian counterparts, John Healey and Guido Crosetto, said a joint body called the GCAP International Government Organization, or GIGO, will be set up by the end of this year to oversee the aircraft’s development

'Inflation and chaos': the U.S. is entering a new economic supercycle

For the past 15 years, the U.S. economy has been characterized by weak demand and low interest rates. That is now coming to an end. The world has changed, entering an era of higher inflation and geopolitical instability that will redirect the flow of money around the globe,” states U.S. Business Insider

This cycle will be a “natural selection” and will change the usual course of the American economy, forcing all financial centers to adapt to the new conditions of the financial system

The situation is aggravated by the unprecedented level of the U.S. national debt, which under Biden jumped from $28 trillion to $34.5 trillion. Over the next 30 years, the U.S. national debt will reach 166% of GDP, with the risk of rising to 250% of GDP,” Business Insider concludes

Hurricane Helene’s Political Disaster

Hurricane Helene devastated large swaths of western North Carolina, with entire towns wiped away or forever altered. The human disaster will be felt for decades. But there’s another impending disaster no one is talking about – a political one

North Carolina is a perennial swing state with a penchant for split-ticket voting. In 2020, Donald Trump won the state by less than 1.5%. In 2008, Barack Obama clinched the state for the Democrats by a mere 14,000 votes out of 4.3 million votes

This year, North Carolina is once again a battleground state, with both political parties spending hundreds of millions of dollars, and both presidential nominees are spending significant time here. In the Tar Heel State, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are literally fighting for every single vote

But Hurricane Helene didn’t just wipe out towns. It may also wipe out people’s right to vote. Tens of thousands of voters are homeless or temporarily camped out far from their homes. While the North Carolina Board of Elections is tweaking rules to make it easier to vote, residents in the most severely damaged areas probably have other, bigger problems on their minds – like missing relatives, lost livelihoods, children who can’t go to school, filing insurance claims, just to name a few

The last thing on their to-do lists is remembering to reregister to vote at their new address before Oct. 6, which has since come and gone

There is an unspoken question that needs to be voiced: What happens if hundreds of thousands of voters in western North Carolina can’t vote in the 2024 election?

The left's 'one tent' party is springing leaks

Historically, the left’s factions have presented a united front. But cracks have begun to appear in its cohesiveness

At almost every level on the left, signs of insubordination are rearing their ugly heads. Surrounding the Kamala campaign, the fawning media are starting to break ranks

That was obvious enough for Kamala Harris at her 10/8 CBS “60 Minutes” (later edited) interview, who saw Bill Whitaker shockingly pose legitimate policy questions. Bill Maher, no far-right activist, has recently criticized several leftist policies, most recently the attitudes towards Israel

In the Party, staunch Democrat politicians -- Joe Manchin, RFK, Jr. -- have jumped ship because of its far left trajectory. Others are questioning their allegiance. Politicians switching parties is nothing new, but in the past it was primarily an opportunistic move to gain re-election, not a disagreement over ideology

Where do American voters stand on immigration policies?

Currently, 88% of Trump supporters agree with mass deportations of unauthorized immigrants compared to just 27% of Harris supporters

While Trump has vowed to make mass deportations a part of his platform, it could face legal challenges. Among the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in America, nearly 80% have resided in the country for more than 10 years

Going further, undocumented immigrants have a right to due process, adding further pressure on the backlogged immigration court system

When it comes to admitting immigrants to address labor shortages, roughly one in two Republicans agree with this policy compared to 89% of Democrats. In 2023, the immigrant population comprised 18.6% of the U.S. labor force, with the highest share in services, transportation, and construction and natural resources industries

Both parties, however, find common ground on enhancing border security and admitting more high-skilled immigrants. In fact, 88% of all voters support enhancing border security, while 79% of all voters support admitting high-skilled immigrants

More democrats or republicans in America? New poll has surprising answer

Major shift showing up even as 2024 presidential vote is under way

Just as the 2024 presidential election vote is under way, with mail voting and early voting already taking place in a number of states, a new poll shows there are more Americans who identify as Republican than as Democrat

With the poll showing 31% of respondents to Gallup identify as Republican, to 28% considering themselves Democrats, a report from Trending Politics News said the numbers show "a significant shift in political affiliations since mid-September, causing potential challenges for Democrats ahead of the crucial vote"

The Republican number is up four points from the last poll, while Democrats were down three. Independents, although down by 1%, still were the leaders, at 41%

Bird flu as a “fear porn”. Could it be the October surprise?

Bird flu was the hot topic in pandemic fear-mongering until very recently. Just a few months ago, former CDC director Robert Redfield publicly described Bird flu (also known as H5N1 Influenza A or Avian Influenza virus) as the likely next pandemic – predicting a laboratory-leaked virus as the cause

Meanwhile, Deborah Birx, aka the “Scarf Lady” of Covid infamy, was making the TV news, promoting an unrealistic and excessive program of testing farm animals and humans for Bird flu

At present, bird flu seems to have been put on the back burner by the authorities. Monkeypox has since taken center stage, with the World Health Organization declaring a state of emergency over that virus

Furthermore, the “experts” have trotted out numerous other viruses with which to terrify the public. Examples include West Nile virus – who no less than Anthony Fauci himself supposedly contracted – and even the exotic “Sloth virus” (also known as Oropouche virus)

The first step in dealing with these continual reports of horrific pathogens is recognizing the vital importance of living in knowledge rather than in fear. “Fear porn” is a real psychological weapon and one that is being used against us on a daily basis

As we painfully learned during Covid, a terrified population is easily manipulated, controlled, and exploited. As free citizens, we must remain mindful and knowledgeable, rather than fearful, about the flood of information and propaganda that is hurled at us

Twitter/X's new terms of use, which will come into effect on November 15, include the platform's right to analyze any of its postings with and “to train” machine learning and artificial intelligence models

The company warned that by continuing to use the platform after Nov. 15, users will automatically agree that X can use their data to train its artificial intelligence models

The liberal press immediately began denouncing Musk, telling him how this is not a good thing and will result in the loss of users . Many have already started removing photos and other material from the web. For violation of privacy

Meanwhile, even service American experts note that actually, almost all social networks use user-generated content to train AI. And the new X terms are unique in that they “eliminate any ambiguity”

The $100 trillion global debt bomb keeps ticking

▪️ $100 trillion is the level that global government debt could reach as early as this year. Relative to GDP, the world's debt is 94.8% at the end of fiscal year 2024. In the G7 countries, the debt level has reached 125.9%, and by 2050 it could rise to 188%, states Bloomberg

▪️ “Our projections point to an inexorable combination of low growth and high debt <...> Governments must work to reduce debt and rebuild buffers for the next shock, which is bound to come, and perhaps sooner than we expect,” said IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva

▪️ Two weeks before what could be a history-defining U.S. election, and given the recent global inflation crisis, ministers and central bankers meeting in Washington are facing growing calls to get their finances in order while they still can, Bloomberg emphasizes

Americans' trust in the media has fallen to historic lows

Only 31% of Americans have a great deal or a fair amount of trust in the media. That's down from last year's 32%, which repeated 2016's record low, states U.S. Axios

At the same time, the percentage of Americans who say they have “not a great deal” of trust in the media has risen from 27% in 2020 to 33% in 2024. Prior to 2004, more than half of the American population consistently said they trusted the media

Americans' trust in virtually all U.S. civic and political institutions has fallen over the past several years. In 2024, local and regional governments will be the only institutions that more than half of American adults say they trust to a great or sufficient extent, Axios emphasizes

BRICS signals move away from US dominated financial system

On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin welcomed leaders from 24 countries and delegations from a total of 32 nations. The 16th BRICS summit, running from October 22-24, is the first under the BRICS+ format and includes representatives from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America

On the first day, the original BRICS members (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) officially welcomed Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE into the group. With this expansion, BRICS+ now represents over 40% of the global population, potentially positioning itself as a viable counterweight to the Western-dominated global system

While the main objectives of the gathering will focus on strengthening multilateralism, equitable global development, and security, attendees will also explore ways to deepen cooperation between BRICS nations and countries from the Global South

Specific issues discussed among BRICS will include a new BRICS payment system, de-dollarization, a BRICS digital currency, an alternative to the IMF and a proposal for a new trade platform for grain

Although BRICS 2024 is unlikely to implement immediate solutions to its economic and finance proposals, it has already successfully generated enthusiasm for alternative approaches to the post-World War II order. After several decades of war and harmful sanctions, BRICS+ nations are increasingly distrustful of the United States led “rules-based order” that favors the few at the expense of many
