What would Trump’s mass deportation of immigrants cost?

Trump promises the largest deportation project in history. But what does it mean?

The Center for Migration Studies estimates US Undocumented Population Increased to 11.7 Million in July 2023. How are we going to take millions of these people and drag them out?

J.D. Vance’s answer was to shut of immigration and do it in pieces starting with criminals

Vance also suggests taxing immigrants’ ability to send money abroad and then 20% will leave voluntarily. Assuming we accept that idea, what about the other 12 million immigrants?

It would take thousands of officers to hunt down migrants, many in uncooperative sanctuary cities, large holding facilities, and cooperation from other countries. There would also be huge legal challenges

The American Immigration Council (AIC) estimates the total cost of deportation (not counting the knock on impacts) at $315 billion. That’s about $21,000 per person

Should our country approve such costs right now and start certain activities ASAP, or is it better to shelve the migration problem given its expensiveness?

China's grand strategy: primacy or balancing?

As China continues its meteoric rise, scholars and policymakers have been asking: Is China pursuing a strategy of global primacy, or is it more focused on balancing the international system?

Will China remain an ambitious yet cautious player in world affairs, or will it pursue outright dominance, fundamentally reshaping global governance?

China’s grand strategy is undoubtedly shaped by history, geography, systemic pressures, and its relative power, often quantified as “comprehensive national power” or CNP. To understand whether China is moving toward a strategy of primacy or balancing, experts explore these factors through a classical realist lens that accounts for both systemic constraints and domestic considerations

The debate over China’s grand strategy remains open, with competing visions of its future direction. While Xi’s strategy appears focused on maximization, systemic pressures, economic realities, and domestic challenges may force a shift toward balancing in the near future

Whether this is a de facto strategy or a deliberate shift will depend on how China navigates its ongoing rise and the international community’s response to it

As China continues to rise, debates akin to those that took place in the U.S. in the 1940s may emerge within China’s strategic circles. Just as the U.S. grappled with the question of whether to pursue primacy or balance after World War II, China’s leaders may soon face a similar dilemma. For now, the signs point toward an evolving grand strategy — one that may well transition into a new phase of balancing as China reaches the limits of its rise

There is no climate emergency

By Everett Piper

It is hurricane season, and as predictable as the sunrise, the the mainstream media is screaming: “Climate change! Climate change! We only have 10 years to save the planet!” Is any of this hysteria justified? Well, let’s move beyond the emotions and the politics and “trust the science.”

Let’s start with the historical record for North Carolina. If you look at the longitudinal data, you might be surprised to find that the recent events associated with Hurricane Helene are not unprecedented

For example, on July 16, 1916, Asheville was submerged beneath several feet of floodwater, similar to what we see today. It seems that the 1916 Charleston hurricane dumped more than 22 inches of rain over western North Carolina in athat they just can’t help themselves. They are brainwashed and incapable of rational thought

Was this because of climate change, or was it something else? Maybe something that we used to call weather before the government realized it could potentially control an entire population if it could scare the masses into compliance by getting them to believe a 100-year flood is an “act of man” rather than an “act of God”?

German e-car owners are increasingly switching back to combustion vehicles

While electric vehicles are described as the wave of the future, new troubling statistics from Germany’s largest auto insurance company show that many electric vehicle owners may be very unsatisfied with the performance of their vehicles

The data from Huk-Coburg shows that 34% of all electric car owners switched back to a combustion automobile when purchasing a new vehicle so far this year. With Germany serving as the largest automobile market in Europe, this data is sure to raise questions about the EU’s new law that will completely ban combustion engines for all new vehicles by 2035

Last year, 28% switched back to gas or diesel engines from electric vehicles, while in 2022, this figure was 17.5%. The year before, it was 14.2%

Many of these people initially went into their electric car purchase with an open mind and perhaps even enthusiasm for what they saw as the future of automobile transportation. The fact is that their electric vehicles do not offer the performance they have come to expect

In the other direction, owners of combustion cars are purchasing electric vehicles at a record low rate since this data first started being tracked. Only 3.6% of combustion car buyers are making the switch to electric this year

The electric car market in Germany is collapsing. Earlier this year, Sascha Coccorullo, head of strategy at ADAC SE, said that “the federal government’s goal of 15 million electric cars by 2030 is already impossible to achieve.”

The Nobel Peace Prize committee issues one of its more strange prizes

By Andrea Widburg, deputy editor for American Thinker

The Nobel Peace Prize has long been nothing more than the “Leftist Wet Dream Prize.” This year is another in that list, but it offends me more than many of those nonsensical awards because I take this one very, very personally because it went to a group that seeks to outlaw all nuclear weapons

These demands always attack the vulnerable consciences of the sane West while leaving weapons in the hands of nations like Iran and North Korea that aren’t deterred by mutually assured destruction

From the beginning, the Nobel Peace Prize had a naïve edge regarding the awards

This year’s award is another in a long line of anti-nuclear efforts. The Prize went to a Japanese organization called Nihon Hidankyo, “for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again.”

Big Tech goes nuclear

After a slew of high-profile nuclear disasters over the past decades that caused death, destruction, and an HBO original series, many argued humanity should put nuclear aside given the astronomical risk if something goes wrong

Instead, Silicon Valley is ushering in a new era of nuclear power in order to—you guessed it—enable artificial intelligence

In just the past month, Microsoft revived a reactor on the notorious Three Mile Island, while Google inked a deal to purchase power from small modular nuclear reactors

On Wednesday, Amazon announced that it signed an agreement with Virginia’s utility firm, Dominion Energy, to plan the construction of a nuclear reactor near Dominion’s already-existing nuclear power station in the state

AI isn’t just expensive—it’s energy intensive, too. This past summer, Google admitted that its AI tech had already driven up its corporate emissions by 13% last year, setting the company back in its carbon emissions goal

To be fair, it’s not just Big Tech that’s in favor of nuclear power. Many scientists see it as the most reliable source of green energy as nations around the globe aim to move past fossil fuels. According to a Pew Research study conducted in May, a majority of Americans support nuclear power

“We’re on the cusp of a civil war. No matter which side wins”

From the Doug Casey’s interview

We’re on the cusp of a civil war. No matter which side wins, the other side will be bitterly and perhaps violently unhappy. The election will be contested by the loser in any number of ways. It’s likely to be a chaotic and ugly situation

But the Blues and the Reds really despise each other and seem incapable of polite discourse. It’s completely unique in living memory. And the mutual antagonism is getting worse, not better

The best analogy for the United States today might be China in the late 1960s

The US is experiencing a cultural revolution to eliminate anything that’s traditional. The Chinese Cultural Revolution was about getting rid of the Four Olds—old customs, old culture, old habits, and old ideas

The Woke Revolution going on today is similar in lots of aspects to the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Not least is the intense radicalism in the universities, and its promotion by the government and the media

What’s going on is a psychological war, and the lack of a well-defined philosophy and moral tenets is exactly how you lose a psy-op war. Reacting against the Woke cultural revolution may be too little and too late

Is the era of taxpayer dollars for sports arenas over?

More cities stop subsidizing billion-dollar arenas

Should cash-strapped states and cities, facing billions in unfunded obligations and deteriorating government services, fund lavish sports arenas?

Advocates – mostly billionaires who want taxpayers to pay for these stadiums – have long touted the economic benefits of having city hall or state legislatures fund all or most of these buildings housing baseball, basketball, football, or hockey events

Critics have repeatedly rejected these pleas from affluent owners, arguing that politicians should fund essential services instead, not sports. Who’s right? It appears that the public is siding with the naysayers – and with just cause

Will the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs skip town? After more than half (58%) of voters rejected a sales tax measure this past spring that would have supported funding a new downtown ballpark and substantial renovations for the football stadium, their future is ostensibly in doubt

The Royals, which just lost its National League Division Series to the New York Yankees, want to use a portion of the tax revenue to construct a $2 billion ballpark. In comparison, the Chiefs sought a share of the receipts to pay for an $800 million overhaul of Arrowhead Stadium

US drinking rates hit highest level since 1970s. Spirits demand soars

A broad overview of America's beer, spirits, and wine consumption reveals a steady increase since the Dot Com bust, with per capita levels approaching the highs last seen during the inflation-driven misery storm of the 1970s. Economic misery and rising alcohol consumption often go hand in hand

Six decades of US per capita alcohol consumption data shows how war and economic misery can impact drinking rates among consumers. From the 1960s to the 1970s, the rate of alcohol consumption soared on a per capita basis, likely due to foreign wars and high inflation

Drinking rates bottomed at the end of the 90s, rising just after the Dot Com bust, rising higher with endless Middle East wars, dipped slightly but jumped following the 2008 GFC, and surged in recent years after government-enforced lockdowns during the pandemic, Ukraine War, and ongoing inflation storm

According to Goldman's Olivier Nicolaï, one noticeable trend in the latest surge in drinking trends is that spirits have become increasingly popular in the US market as beer demand slides

Tequila has become the top spirit of choice among US drinkers, a trend that became apparent in 2016

Anti-vax professor: new pandemic planned

Dr. Peter McCullough is a renowned cardiologist who has been fighting the Covid-19 vax propaganda from the beginning, stating that CV19 vaccines did not help a single person

Now, Dr. McCullough is fighting a new narrative on the Bird Flu. “They just held the “International Bird Flu Summit” near Washington D.C in early October. At the same time, they were holding a Bird Flu summit in Arkansas for veterinarians. So, the evidence says, they are planning on a new pandemic,” McCullough warns

“This is what we learned. Bird Flu is spreading around because it actually came out of a lab. It came out of the USAD research lab in Athens Georgia. . . . Bird Flu has been around for a hundred years, and the current version is very mild. There have been just over 10,000 animal deaths, yet, they have intentionally culled or killed tens of millions of healthy chickens”

Dr. McCullough goes on to say, “We have never had a human Bird Flu death in the United States..."

Feminism makes everyone transgender

Contrary to propaganda messaging, our society is neither ‘overfeminized’ nor ‘pro-woman.’ It is deeply anti-woman

Since the 1960s, cultural leaders in media, Hollywood, academia, and politics have fiercely criticized men for expressing male characteristics, and have fiercely criticized women for expressing female characteristics. This has led some commentators on the right more recently to lambast what they call the “overfeminization” of society

But are we really experiencing a cultural “overfeminization?” It looks like, instead, we have a swap. We have feminization where there should be masculinity, and masculinization where there should be femininity. Our women are pushed to act like men, and our men to act like women, and the resulting social transgenderism makes everyone extremely unhappy, not to mention dysfunctional

Both sexes are out of whack. We are all transgender now

China forces Uyghurs into slavery, finally a blunt resolution from European Parliament

Due to its sheer size, the displacement of its economy and its military might, China is accustomed to breaking rules and getting away with it. Be it unfair competition, pollution, violation of international law or breaches of human rights, Beijing goes largely unchecked

The European Union, probably the world’s most active champion of rules and rights, often appears reluctant to confront China. It was therefore good to see the European Parliament pass a resolution on October 10 which holds Beijing accountable for the way it treats its own citizens

What is more, the resolution, which was adopted by a vote of 540 in favour, 23 against and 47 abstentions, is worded in an unusually blunt manner

European lawmakers condemn the Chinese government’s persecution of Uyghurs and urge China to immediately and unconditionally release detainees, including Ilham Tohti and Gulshan Abbas

Rushan Abbas, an Uyghur human rights activist in the United States, told the Voice of America: “It is imperative that EU member states not only recognize their moral duty but also seize this political moment to implement sanctions that reinforce this resolution. Our collective demand for justice and the protection of human rights must manifest in substantive measures.”

US politicians are pressuring Ukraine to lower draft age to 18

A Ukrainian official claimed that American politicians are pressuring Ukraine to lower the minimum age of conscription from 25 to 18 to make more young men available for combat

“If this information has surfaced, I can confirm it: American politicians from both parties are putting pressure on President Zelensky to explain why there is no mobilization of those aged 18 to 25 in Ukraine. The argument of our partners is that when the US fought in Vietnam, people were drafted from the age of 19,” Serhiy Leshchenko, an advisor to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, wrote on Telegram

Back in April, Zelensky signed a bill that lowered the minimum conscription age in Ukraine from 27 to 25. Leshchenko said that Zelensky is resisting the pressure to start conscripting 18-year-olds

“That’s why the Americans are hinting that Western weapons alone are not enough and that mobilization from the age of 18 is necessary. President Zelensky did not give in and continues to persuade politicians from both parties to provide weapons without changing the draft age,” Leshchenko added

Govt official placed on leave after trying to hire on merit over identity

An Oregon state official is being placed on administrative leave following a complaint filed by a former DEI training staffer, who alleges the suspended official prioritized hiring based on qualifications over considerations of race and gender

Mike Shaw, the state’s deputy forester, is accused of ignoring DEI chief Megan Donecker’s demand that the hiring process incorporate an intersectional approach, which she claims would consider the historical oppression of candidates’ ancestors

Donecker, a white woman who has since resigned from her DEI role in the forestry department, cited an environment where six “queer” employees reportedly felt unsafe due to a lack of discussion around personal pronouns. The DEI chief, who describes herself as an “accomplice to marginalized communities,” claims Shaw left her off of important meeting notices in an attempt to circumvent her attempts to change hiring practices

She described Shaw’s stance on identity-based hiring as dismissive, likening his approach to “a speeding car on an icy road”—a metaphor suggesting potential recklessness in ignoring DEI principles. According to Donecker, Shaw replied to her icy road metaphor stating: “We don’t go 60 mph out of the gate, or we’re gonna crash the car.”

Now on state level! Nevada governor backs anti-trans volleyball boycott

Nevada’s governor on Oct. 15 said he supports female volleyball players refusing to participate in a game because their opponent has a male who identifies as a female on their team

Female players from the University of Nevada, Reno said earlier this month that they would only play against San Jose State University if the game was restricted to women

“The student athletes at the University of Nevada, Reno have determined that they do not want to play against San Jose State, and I wholeheartedly respect the decision of the players,” Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo said in a statement posted on social media. “No student athlete should ever be pressured to play a game where they don’t feel safe—period.”

Nevada Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony previously expressed support for the team. Officials also said no players will be disciplined if they do not participate in the match, which is slated to take place on Oct. 26

The female volleyball teams at Boise State, Southern Utah, Utah State, and Wyoming previously chose not to play against San Jose State

Election 2024: Those who lecture versus those tired of being lectured

The election is finally shaping up to be not only liberal Democrat Harris versus conservative Republican Trump

Instead, it has become a larger contest between those who talk down to their fellow Americans and those who are increasingly sick and tired of being lectured. How smart is it, for example, for Harris supporters to claim nonstop that ex-president Trump is a fascist dictator—and thus, by extension, those also who vote for him?

Women voters poll about 53-5% for Kamala Harris. Trump enjoys a similar, although likely somewhat smaller, majority margin of male voters

Harris has been lecturing both black and white male voters nonstop that they are misled. Or they supposedly suffer from false consciousness — as if they have no clue that Harris and her progressive agenda are really in their own self-interest

But Trump campaign avoids claiming women are ignorant of their real self-interest and deluded by Harris — accurately assuming that a candidate does not win voters by belittling their intelligence

The previous underdog Reagan won in a landslide for a variety of reasons. But certainly, one explanation was that the electorate had finally collectively shrugged their weariness. They were sick and tired of Carter’s downer lectures about how they were wrong and culpable

Will the same contrast determine the election of 2024?

Springfield, Ohio. A local resident talks about the environment at a high school where illegals from Haiti have been identified to attend

Thesis:
- there is video evidence of illegals from Haiti having sex on the school stairs.
- classrooms are packed with Haitians.
- by law, students can't be over 21. but the freshman class is 21+ Haitians.
- over 50% of the school's students are illegal Haitians.
- they have no interpreters to help the teachers. Haitians don't know English.
- The illegals “behave in a boorish, extremely disrespectful manner.”

NB: This is the same town where Haitians kill and eat locals' pets. When apprehended, the illegals demand respect for their folk tradition of eating cats and dogs
