“Twitter Files” allege rigged Covid debate
Pt. 10 shows that U.S. govt was pressuring Twitter and other Big Tech to elevate specific information about the coronavirus and suppress other content. The bottom line is that Twitter used bots and overseas contractors to monitor content, believing this led to legitimate fake-labeled data and other accounts being suspended for posting opinions that went against the govt’s own narrative
BTW, this didn’t prevent James Baker, Twitter’s since-fired dep. gen. and an ex-FBI counsel, from trying to label as misinfo Mr. Trump’s upbeat posto telling Americans “Don’t be afraid of Covid”
Fifty years ago, the Watergate scandal provoked a series of events that transformed not only the presidency but fed. agencies like the FBI. Given the current pace of escalation, the Twittergate may even outstrip this target!

Eric Schmidt, Ex- Google boss, is indirectly funding the salaries of officials in a White House office tasked with advising President Biden on technical and scientific issues
These are funded by the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) covered by Mr. Schmidt’s research and investment firm, Schmidt Futures, which is registered as LLC called the Future Action Network, a report from Politico says. Such a trick legally bars the firm from funding fed. govt positions, but it can provide financing to a nonprofit entity such as FAS, which can then fund the White House positions under a 1970 law

An internal investigation by ByteDance, the parent company of the video-sharing platform, found that employees tracked multiple users, including journalists covering the company, improperly gaining access to their IP addresses and user data in an attempt to track the reporters’ physical movements
This covert surveillance campaign was designed “to unearth the source of leaks inside the company following a drumbeat of stories exposing the company’s ongoing links to China.” The released report is emboldening high-profile enemies of TikTok like Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, whose bill to ban the service on U.S. govt devices passed in the Senate
The disclosure could add to pressure the platform is facing in Washington from lawmakers and the Biden administration over security concerns about American user data, thus giving free rein to the use of the White House's favorite punitive mechanism using the FBI and prosecution
