The FTSE 100 mining giant, Glencore group is to pay $180 million to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after admitting to years of corruption in the African country between 2007 and 2018
This includes Glencore’s payment of $27.5 million in bribes in the DRC between 2010 and 2013, which it admitted to as part of a plea agreement with the American authorities earlier this year
Glencore has already agreed to pay more than $1 billion in penalties to the U.S. authorities, more than $400 million in Britain and $40 million to the Brazilian authorities this year after pleading guilty to a string of bribery and corruption offences around the world
