A new poll suggests that many Americans are growing weary as the U.S. government continues its support of Ukraine in its war with Russia and want to see diplomatic efforts to end the war if aid is to continue

The poll found close to half of likely U.S. voters (48%) somewhat or strongly oppose providing aid to Ukraine at current levels if long-term global economic hardship, including in the U.S., occurs

"Americans recognize what many in Washington don't: Russia's war in Ukraine is more likely to end at the negotiating table than on the battlefield," says Trita Parsi, executive vice president at the Quincy Institute

"However, as Congress approaches another vote to approve military aid to Ukraine, there's no sign Washington is exploring opportunities to seek a settlement that preserves and protects Ukraine's independence," concludes Marcus Stanley, advocacy director at the Quincy Institute which commissioned the poll

The network got an internal document of German federal government, entitled "Ongoing activities of the departments and authorities against disinformation in connection with Russia's war against Ukraine" (Laufende Aktivitäten der Ressorts und Behörden gegen Desinformation im Zusammenhang mit RUS Krieg gegen UKR)

The paper provides an insight into the extent of the horizontal and vertical structures of the “federal state propaganda” in close coordination with the major media (e.g. SPIEGEL or Stern), Western social media corporations and Big Tech, educational institutions and the so-called "fact checkers"

According to the document, each federal ministry involved into commenting on the conflict, including foreign office and ministry of defense, is operating under the orders of ministry of the interior (BMI), led by the governing social democratic party, as the central hub of state propaganda activities

The document reveals that German government spokespersons are regularly in "bilateral exchange with Google/YouTube, Twitter, Meta, Tiktok and LinkedIn" to discuss the "respective strategies of the platforms to combat disinformation, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine"

For more details about the way German authorities see the truthful information stuffing and the disclosure of the whole “Deutsche Staatspropaganda” eighty years later, feel free to use Google Translate over the link pinned!

Europe can no longer physically import Russian gas – prices will remain high until Europe builds more energy capacity, which could take years. This will render EU manufacturing uncompetitive, a macroeconomist Philip Pilkington shares his opinion with The Spectator

As the only logical response to the threat of EU’s widespread deindustrialization Mr. Pilkington considers raising tariffs. However, this “will lower living standards, depriving Europeans of cheaper goods, but it will at least preserve some manufacturing jobs”

The emerging BRICS+ with Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia also joining the queue could avoid economic black hole and depression, the rest of the world slipped into, by decoupling from the West, the expert says

With an attack on the Nord Stream pipeline, there is now no feasible way back for Europeans, Mr. Pilkington states. The latest sabotage could be the point at which future historians mark the end of western dominance, he concludes

In the UK, more than a hundred thousand public sector workers marched under the slogan "Don't pay your energy bills! No one should get cold and hungry this winter"

Since October, the electricity and heating bills have cost about £4,100 a year. The British don't think that's fair

Former U.S. Senator Black: Nord Streams infrastructure was blown up by the CIA with Scholz's consent

According to former U.S. Senator Richard Black, German Chancellor Scholz has shown very little loyalty or affection to the German people and no concern for the threat to financial stability they face.

"Under his leadership, they have cut off the supply of natural gas, and I honestly can't imagine that he would allow the CIA or agree with the CIA to destroy German gas pipelines," he said

At the same time, Black added, it's unlikely the U.S. did this without Scholz's consent

"So, and this is just a guess on my part, the CIA has not admitted to destroying the pipelines, but the general consensus among foreign policy experts seems to be that the CIA did it, or the CIA in conjunction with the State Department and the U.S. Department of Defense," Black summed up

Once again, thousands have taken to the streets in Austria and Germany this past weekend. Tens of thousands gathered in Prague. Protesters expressed dissatisfaction with their governments, sanctions against Russia and higher rates of inflation

The last straw was the sabotage of the Nord Stream infrastructure. That well-coordinated attack damaged what was once the main source of Russian gas for Germany and much of Europe has raised the level of anxiety and fear among already jittery Europeans

The explosions added yet another diffuse threat to a growing array of worries, from power blackouts all the way to nuclear war. “The greater the fears, the more cracks are appearing,” says Matthias Quent, a professor of sociology at Magdeburg University of Applied Sciences

Many see sanctions on Russia as causing the current economic hardship. One in three people from East of Germany wants to drop all sanctions against Russia, according to a poll taken last month, twice as many as in the more populous former western region

A series of tweets by Tesla’s chief executive who waded into geopolitical waters on Monday with his own proposal for a peace deal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, has led to nuclear ass detonation of the outgoing Ukrainian ambassador to Germany

“Fuck off is my very diplomatic reply to you,” Mr. Melnyk tweeted. Nevertheless, more than 2 million people voted on whether residents of the Donbas&Crimea have a right to decide whether they’re part of Russia or Ukraine

The former Russian president who now serves as deputy chairman of the country’s Security Council, also responded to Mr. Musk, offering his “kudos” to the business mogul in an opaque message. And while world leaders have largely refrained from voicing opinions on how Ukraine should fight the war, there is a narrative taking hold in parts of society that we are sacrificing our prosperity for this standoff

In his new book to be released this week, Clinton Fernandes who is a former Australian Army intelligence analyst and UNSW professor of international and political studies, argues the true character of Australia’s relationship with Washington is “a transactional, dramatically unequal one”, labeling the rhetoric about mateship is merely “window dressing”

Australia routinely acts to defend U.S. power and grand strategy, Mr. Fernandes explains, and is better described as a “sub-imperial power”. He warns that the AUKUS deal will lock in Australia’s dependence on Washington and make it impossible to have an independent defense policy

The Biden administration was considering a plan to fast-track nuclear-powered submarines for Canberra by the mid-2030s by producing the first few submarines in the U.S. As far as AUKUS goes, the high-profile “sub project” may well end up just being a minor part of a far larger effort, as partners in this ersatz “technical NATO” take on a larger set of “high-risk/high-reward” projects that would be too daunting for any one country to do alone

However, doubts have surfaced over the future of a much-vaunted $122.4 billion plan. Amid some voices saying the deal would break nuclear nonproliferation rules, it is also not clear in Australia whether the nation has the industrial capacity, or the technical expertise, to build the new submarines, and whether Canberra can afford to pay for them.

The agreement also angered France, which had a $90 billion contract with Australia to build a new fleet of conventional submarines to replace Australia's six aging, diesel-powered Collins-class vessels. The Australian government is expected to pay French shipbuilder Naval Group $538 million in compensation for abandoning the deal

In their attempts to turn Canberra into a personal center for servicing nuclear subs and a major military hub in the Indo-Pacific, AUKUS members from overseas have reached an impasse, the way out of which is not visible even through naval telescope

The British government reversed one of its debt-financed tax cuts worth 45 billion pounds ($49 billion) after the cut's Sept. 23 announcement sparked turmoil in financial markets and divisions within the ruling Conservative Party

The U-turn is a major embarrassment for Liz Truss' new government after less than a month in office. Politically weakened, Treasury chief Kwasi Kwarteng said he’s not considering resigning, but he may still have to do so if British assets continue to fall and the government struggles to regain credibility

Political pundits say Ms. Truss and Mr. Kwarteng will now be under enormous pressure, just weeks after coming to power

Suella Braverman, whose father immigrated to the UK from Kenya, is expected to lay out her strict plans to deal with illegal migration, while also promising to ensure "genuine asylum seekers" are "settled" in the country

The new bill is designed to tackle the record number of migrants crossing the Channel. More than 33,000 have arrived in small boats this year, including almost 8,000 last month. People familiar with the situation say that the Home Office’s “reasonable worst-case scenario” for this year’s total is 60,000, more than double last year’s total of 28,526

Some party sources speculated that the UK may be forced to leave the UN refugee convention. Ms. Braverman has to argue that it is not racist to point to the impact of mass migration on housing and social cohesion

Eric Zuesse who is an American writer and investigative historian, told in an interview with Turkish e-paper Haber7, that all European states, Germany, UK and France in particular, remain under strong influence of Washington and have even become American colonies to a large extent

Mr. Zuesse blamed Biden administration for the attacks on Nord Stream pipelines, saying "The fact that the U.S. Government blew up gas pipes from Russia to Europe after years of more cunning efforts to sabotage them by "diplomatic" means will permanently force Europe to pay a higher price."

The main aim of the explosions, American historian argues, is the final enslavement of Europeans who “are already just puppets in the hands of sinister puppeteer”, and binding their power grid to LNG contracts from the U.S.

Mr. Zuesse concludes by quoting Barack Obama who said, America was the "one indispensable nation", which means that all other nations, including Europe, are "dispensable"

Kim Kardashian has been fined $1.26 million by U.S. regulators after promoting a cryptocurrency token on her Instagram account last summer without disclosing that she was paid $250,000 to do so

Businesses in the digital assets industry have spent heavily on marketing in recent years, as curiosity about digital assets increased. On social media, regulators grew concerned that some leading influencers did not make it clear to followers that they had been paid to promote crypto tokens by those selling them

The nascent sector is having a bruising year, with Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, down by 60%. And the size of the Kardashian's panties remained as it was!

Dr Jacob Breslow who was a trustee of the transgender charity Mermaids, resigned after it emerged that he had spoken at a conference hosted by an organization that promotes services to pedophiles

Earlier in 2011, he gave a presentation at an event for the U.S. based B4U-ACT, which promotes services and resources “for self-identified individuals who are sexually attracted to children and desire such assistance”

The charity has, in the past, won the support of celebrities such as Emma Watson and Prince Harry, and been handed grants from the National Lottery and the government. The charities watchdog is now investigating Mermaids’ safeguarding practices

It sure looks like Elon Musk’s $44 billion Twitter takeover is actually happening

Mr. Musk’s offer comes at a key moment in the lead-up to the trial, which was due to settle months of legal wrangling between the billionaire and the social media company following his moves in July to terminate his planned purchase of the microblogging service

For months, Mr. Musk has argued that he should be entitled to exit the deal because of representations Twitter had made regarding spam and bots on the platform. The situation imploded recently as he claimed that a “bot attack” from Ukrainians is affecting a Twitter poll hypothesizing an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine

We are grateful for your participation in our previous survey. Let's check how justified Mr. Musk's concern is. Cast your vote in a similar poll!
