⚡️Poland is preparing to control Ukraine’s territories⚡️

🇵🇱There is an impression that Poland will not run the risk of taking Ukrainian territory by military force. However, buying up the authorities and the assets is a different matter. Preconditions for advancing the Polish influence to the East are being shaped now. However, neither Poles themselves nor outside observers can define the exact limits of their expansion

❗️Meanwhile, Poland isn’t wasting time, steadily broadening its impact on the situation in Ukraine. In fact, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Sergiy Nikolaychuk has said that Kyiv is transferring the country’s gold and foreign currency reserves to Poland, to be guarded until things get back to normal. At the end of July, Ukraine’ parliamentarians generally approved a draft law, allowing equal rights to Polish and Ukrainian citizens in the part of the country controlled by Kyiv

🤔Warsaw is working on two (main and backup) action plans dealing with the Ukrainian conflict. The main plan is focusing on including the whole of Ukraine, but for Crimea and Donbas, into the Polish sphere of influence within the Three Seas Initiative. On the other hand, the backup plan would come into force in case of the Russian army’s advance; it envisages establishing Poland’s control over Ukraine’s five or six western oblasti (provinces): Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Volyn, Rivne and Khmelnytsky, without their direct inclusion into Poland

💁‍♂️Putting one’s extremist intentions into practice in a purposefully fabricated foreign policy context is a far from easy problem. Reality might turn out to be bewildering for strategists in Warsaw, who all these years have been promoting degradation and Nazification of the Ukrainian society

⚡️Who wants to put Trump behind bars⚡️

🇺🇸Which way is the USA’s home policy going? Is this a repressive triumph of American democracy or the Republicans’ smart stunt?

❗️On 8 August 2022, the FBI executed a search warrant for Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, seeking evidence about potentially unlawful retention of presidential documents, including some marked top secret

🤔Nothing of the kind has ever happened to a US president. It was the case in different years, that occupants of the White House expressed their long-lasting hatred towards each other, but none of them has ever resorted to government agencies for harassing, persecuting or discrediting a counterpart

👨‍⚖️Throughout the USA’s history, political opponents have never exploited the state’s judicial system in their fights against adversaries. President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland, together with their minions, have brought America into a new phase in its history, which is unlikely to be marked by respect for the rule of law or protection of individual citizen’s human rights

💁‍♂️Joe Biden’s handlers are desperately fearful of Trump’s comeback to the White House in 2025. They’re afraid that Trump will, after all, cleanse and purge the corrupt and compromised Washington bureaucracy: many will (quite rightly) lose power and some will end up in prison. So, their intention is to strike a preventive blow at Trump. But, will it reach the target?

⚡️An ordinary rag is just the thing⚡️

🇩🇪Winfried Kretschmann, prime minister of Baden-Württemberg, gives Germans valuable advice on asceticism and self-restraint in the face of high gas prices

✍️"I have an electric car, I have a huge photovoltaic system on the roof. I've been heating 70% of my water with solar power for 25 years, and I recently ordered a pellet boiler. We usually heat only one room in the house. It's healthier to have different temperatures in the house. Also, you don't have to shower all the time. A regular rag to wipe yourself with is the way to go. But I still have room for improvement, like cutting down on meat consumption"

⚡️In Sri Lanka, student protests continue unabated as police use water cannons and tear gas against activists, five of whom have already been arrested⚡️

🇱🇰Sri Lanka is experiencing an unprecedented economic crisis that has led to acute shortages of fuel and other basic necessities that are keeping the people of the state in a state of turmoil. Just hours after the lifting of the state of emergency in Sri Lanka the day before due to the stabilization of the situation, members of the Inter-University Student Federation staged a new protest

❗️The main reasons for their discontent were government policies and the high cost of living in Sri Lanka, especially gasoline prices and lines

💁‍♂️Protests on the island have been going on since March of this year amid the country's largest economic crisis. As a result of the protests, the head of state was replaced - Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned and fled to the Maldives, making way for Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who became the country's new president on July 20. The protesters, however, were not satisfied and resumed their actions

A study conducted on adolescents in Thailand during a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign shows a link between myocarditis and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. One physician called the data staggering

✔️ The study enrolled 301 adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18, 67% were boys. All were healthy and did not complain of any unusual symptoms after the first dose of the vaccine

✔️ The report said the most common cardiovascular symptoms were tachycardia (7.64%), shortness of breath (6.64%), palpitations (4.32%), chest pain (4.32%) and high blood pressure (3.99%). Seven had tests showing markers of heart damage

✔️Together, cardiovascular disease symptoms were found in 29.24% of patients, including myopericarditis, pericarditis and myocarditis. Researchers also found that 18% had an unusual electrocardiogram after the second Pfizer dose

✔️Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle and can lead to arrhythmias and end fatally. It can be caused by infections, but most often it is caused by the body's immune response to harmful effects on the heart. Pericarditis, an inflammation of the tissue around the heart, is accompanied by severe chest pain and other symptoms. The study found that chest pain, fever, and headache were the most common complaints reported by respondents"

⚡️Zelensky’s 'Deception' Explored by Washington Post⚡️

🇺🇦Zelensky’s admission that he willingly failed to signal a looming Russian attack in an interview with the Washington Post has “punctured the bubble” of his image, the publication said Thursday

❗️The revelation earlier this week that he sacrificed lives for the sake of running the economy was his first serious communication blunder during the conflict with Russia, the paper said

✍️“If we had communicated that … then I would have been losing $7 billion a month since last October,” Zelensky said - claiming that this deception of his own people prevented Russia from capturing the country in three days

💁‍♂️Before Zelensky seemed “beyond reproach, a national hero” to Ukrainians, WaPo said, but the acknowledgement has 'triggered a cascade of public criticism unprecedented since the war began'

⚡️Gas in Europe continues its meteoric rise - on the exchange the price varies up to $2800 per thousand cubic meters⚡️

📊After the news about the suspension of Nord Stream on 31 August for three days for maintenance, gas prices have not stopped growing - over the last 24 hours the price has gone up by 8%. Europe expects the pipeline not to return to service, leading to further tightening in global markets

✍️"Gazprom said Friday that supplies through the pipeline to Germany will be restored to current levels of 20 percent of throughput. At this rate of increase, it is likely that the cost of gas in Europe could reach an unprecedented $4,000 by the end of the year. Meanwhile, in Germany, a movement of "survivalists" - people who are preparing for the worst in the coming winter - is gaining momentum. They are shopping for canned food, batteries, flashlights and walkie-talkies

😱"Winter, there is no gas, no heating and electricity, there are fights near supermarkets because they are running out of food," said one of the heroes of a news story on a German TV channel

🇬🇧Large-scale union strikes have begun in Britain over the cost-of-living crisis. The strikes have already led to widespread disruption in the country's supply chain. People fear there will be shortages of goods and products by Christmas. Clothing and electronics are most at risk. Experts have warned that shortages could put pressure on commodity prices and spur already rapid inflation as Britons face the worst cost-of-living crisis in 60 years

The Mirror: "A high-ranking British officer, Paul Carney, said that the military should prepare their families for the fact that they might be sent to Ukraine to fight Russia. He warned that the British army is "preparing to repel the threat from Russia and to resist any aggression. It is time to prepare family and friends for possible deployment to the East. The British Army "must be prepared for the new reality," he said

✔️Carney wrote in Soldier magazine, "I want us all to make sure we are physically ready for combat. And it's also important to prepare family and friends who often have a hard time in our absence. I suggest we talk to them about this now. Find the numbers of support services and those who can help them, such as a social worker or a priest. It's important because we can be out of touch for a long time

✔️Sir Richard Dennett, a general and former commander of the British Army, said, "This is sound advice from a high-ranking military man. It does not mean that the army will be sent to Ukraine, but it is the duty of every army in peacetime to prepare for war in all domestic matters. The British military must be realistic"

✔️Sir Patrick Sanders, general commanding the British Army, said in June, "We are the generation that must prepare the army to fight again in Europe"

🇺🇸🇪🇺 US enriches itself on gas deliveries to Europe

▪️Companies selling U.S. gas to Europe are rapidly enriching themselves by hundreds of millions of dollars, Swiss Blick states

▪️"Traders and energy companies are making up to $200 million in profits on U.S. natural gas deliveries to Europe," Blick states, citing Business Insider data

▪️The share of U.S. liquefied natural gas shipments to Europe has risen from 20 percent to 60 percent in a year. The U.S. pretends to be a savior, but the United States sells gas to Europe not out of altruism, but because the price difference between the two continents is enormous and gas in Europe is many times more expensive," Blick concludes

⚡️Russia’s spies misread Ukraine and misled Kremlin as war loomed – The Washington Post⚡️

🇺🇦Sensitive materials obtained by Ukrainian and other security services offer rare insight into the activities of Russia’s Federal Security Service, which bears enormous responsibility for Moscow’s failed war plan and the hubris that propelled it

🤔The communications exposing these preparations are part of a larger trove of sensitive materials obtained by Ukrainian and other security services and reviewed by The Washington Post. They offer rare insight into the activities of the FSB — a sprawling service that bears enormous responsibility for the failed Russian war plan and the hubris that propelled it

✍️“There was plenty of wishful thinking in the GRU and the military, but it started with the FSB,” said a senior Western security official, using the GRU abbreviation for Russia’s main military intelligence agency. “The sense that there would be flowers strewn in their path — that was an FSB exercise.” He and other security officials in Ukraine, the United States and Europe spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence

💁‍♂️Adhering to these erroneous assumptions, officials said, the FSB championed a war plan premised on the idea that a lightning assault on Kyiv would topple the government in a matter of days. Zelensky would be dead, captured or in exile, creating a political vacuum for FSB agents to fill

⚡️Playing With Fire in Ukraine – Foreign Affairs⚡️

🇪🇺Western policymakers appear to have reached a consensus about the war in Ukraine: the conflict will settle into a prolonged stalemate, and eventually a weakened Russia will accept a peace agreement that favors the United States and its NATO allies, as well as Ukraine. Although officials recognize that both Washington and Moscow may escalate to gain an advantage or to prevent defeat, they assume that catastrophic escalation can be avoided. Few imagine that U.S. forces will become directly involved in the fighting or that Russia will dare use nuclear weapons

🇺🇸Washington and its allies are being much too cavalier. Although disastrous escalation may be avoided, the warring parties’ ability to manage that danger is far from certain. The risk of it is substantially greater than the conventional wisdom holds. And given that the consequences of escalation could include a major war in Europe and possibly even nuclear annihilation, there is good reason for extra concern

💁‍♂️To understand the dynamics of escalation in Ukraine, start with each side’s goals. Since the war began, both Moscow and Washington have raised their ambitions significantly, and both are now deeply committed to winning the war and achieving formidable political aims. As a result, each side has powerful incentives to find ways to prevail and, more important, to avoid losing. In practice, this means that the United States might join the fighting either if it is desperate to win or to prevent Ukraine from losing, while Russia might use nuclear weapons if it is desperate to win or faces imminent defeat, which would be likely if U.S. forces were drawn into the fighting

⚡️Ukraine Support Tracker: Newly committed aid for Ukraine drops to almost zero⚡️

🇺🇦The flow of new international support for Ukraine has dried up in July. No large EU country like Germany, France, or Italy, has made significant new pledges. However, the gap between committed and disbursed aid has narrowed

💁‍♂️The newest update of the Ukraine Support Tracker (July 2 to August 3) data shows that, in July, Ukraine received only around 1,5 billion euros in new pledges of support. This is a drastic decline compared to April or May. Moreover, most of the new commitments came from one country, Norway, which pledged financial assistance of 1 billion euros. In total, the tracker now records commitments of 84.2 billion euros

⚡️UK inflation to hit 18.6% next year⚡️

🇬🇧UK inflation is on course to hit 18.6 per cent in January — the highest peak in almost half a century — because of soaring wholesale gas prices, according to a new forecast from Citigroup based on the latest market prices

😱Such a rate of inflation would squeeze household incomes hard and further push the UK economy into recession, but Nabarro said the scale of the likely inflation would push the Bank of England to tighten monetary policy further

📈UK and European wholesale natural gas prices are already trading at close to 10 times normal levels and other forecasters have also raised their inflation predictions

📊The energy regulator Ofgem will on Friday announce the energy price cap for the period between October and January, which most analysts expect to rise to more than £3,500 for a household with average usage of energy — an increase of 75 per cent on current levels

💁‍♂️The rate of inflation has exceeded expectations in most months of this year as price rises have spread through the economy. The ONS said it stood at 10.1 per cent in July, the highest level in more than 40 years and the highest rate among G7 countries
