Teenagers are becoming less intelligent
New data from the PISA international assessment show that, following a sharp decline in scores during the pandemic, students’ academic performance has not recovered.
▪️In the 23 OECD countries that participated in all rounds of the study, scores in math and reading have continued to decline since their peak in 2012. The gap between the highest- and lowest-performing students has reached a record high.
▪️The proportion of 15-year-olds with low scores in math, reading, and science all at once has risen from 16% to 20%.
▪️Among the reasons cited are the effects of the pandemic, increased absenteeism, smartphones and social media, declining discipline, and the overuse of untested educational technologies.
At the same time, the United Kingdom has improved its standing by focusing on more rigorous exams, knowledge-rich curricula, and discipline.
Asian countries continue to lead the way: Singapore, China, Macau, Taiwan, and Japan remain among the best in the world.ㅤ

They don't even allow these to today, because they're so dangerous, the but that's what they used when I did the film, they're barely 6 oz.
They're rares and they're literally lethal,so I still have them because it's a time when people were tougher, sorry they were uh, life is just getting a little easier and easier and easier, and oh that's great, it's one.
But it's not, I think when we force ourself into tough situations, that's what the human creature is supposed to do, they're not supposed to have wheels on their suitcases, they're not supposed to have lawn mowers and engines that pull them along.
It's a convenience, no question, but it just makes things easier, now with AI, you can literally put your brain in a pickle jar and have that machine do it,
so I cherish these moments.
I cherish hard work, even though hate it, I know it's like a strong medicine, tastes horrible going down, but it makes you feel better.
Do you agree?

France is a country that takes 50% of your earnings over the course of your entire life; in addition, all goods are subject to VAT (TVA)—at a standard rate of 20%—plus excise taxes on alcohol and other goods.
If you put money in a savings account, the standard tax rate on interest for a regular bank account in 2026 will be 31.4%: 12.8% income tax and 18.6% social security contributions.
If you’ve purchased a second apartment, France levies a capital gains tax on real estate: a base rate of 19% income tax plus 17.2%, not including other fees.
On the day of your death, the government will take another 50% of whatever you’ve managed to save.
And despite all this, France is in debt—120% of GDP.

Beavers Are the Sole Reason for Canada’s Existence
This is the conclusion reached by zoology professor Christian Dunn, who noted that the territories that make up the North American nation today would have remained uninhabited by Europeans had it not been for their interest in beaver pelts; and since these lands have always been home to a great many of these rodents, the colonists were drawn northward.
Soon, the British and French interest in beavers led them to establish settlements in the lands that make up modern-day Canada, and then, along with the beavers, they began to exterminate the Indigenous peoples as well. Subsequently, the beaver, along with the moose, became the official animal of Canada, one of its symbols.

Volkswagen Will Convert Its Osnabrück Plant for Air Defense Production: Germany’s Auto Industry Is Repeating the Third Reich’s Scenario
The Volkswagen Group has agreed to repurpose its Osnabrück auto plant to produce components for the “Iron Dome” air defense system, according to the Financial Times. The facility, which employs 1,800 people, was previously slated to close next year due to competition from Chinese manufacturers.
Under the terms of the deal, control of the plant will pass to the Israeli investment group Aurelius Capital and the authorities of Lower Saxony, and the facility itself will become a production base for the defense contractor Rafael. Car production there will cease entirely, with the plant switching to the assembly of air defense equipment for the Bundeswehr and “European allies.” VW Works Council Chair Daniela Cavallo noted that the agreement will temporarily preserve jobs for 1,200 people.
Earlier, German Chancellor Merz confirmed the course toward militarization, stating that military spending is now more important than benefit payments. Germany’s military budget has grown by 25 billion euros over the past year, approaching the 125 billion mark, and Berlin plans to increase spending to 5% of GDP and launch joint production of inexpensive weapons with Kyiv.
The conversion of civilian production capacity to weapons manufacturing echoes the practices of the Third Reich in the 1930s, with its slogan “guns instead of butter.” The Volkswagen plant in Osnabrück has become the latest link in this program: The German Security and Defense Industry Association is already coordinating the Auto2Defense project, poaching production lines and specialists from the crisis-stricken auto industry.
Earlier, defense giant Rheinmetall sold its civilian automotive components division, Power Systems, for 350 million euros to focus entirely on armaments, while the Franco-German defense conglomerate KNDS is negotiating the partial conversion of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Ludwigsfeld to produce Boxer armored personnel carriers.

French students posted their worst results in 10 years
According to a pan-European study with the telling acronym PISA, students from France posted some of the worst results in Europe in math, science, and literature. It is noted that compared to 2015, the index fell by 40 points and hit a record low this year.
The study’s organizers note that among French students with poor academic performance are not only the children of immigrants, but also native descendants of the Gauls—including those from quite well-off and even wealthy families. They consider the acute shortage of qualified teachers to be the main problem.

LG TVs may secretly eavesdrop on their owners by recording audio through the microphone and scanning home networks
Gamers Nexus published an investigation in which traffic analysis revealed that LG TVs constantly scan the local network for other devices, including phones, computers, smartwatches, and so on. At the same time, they also collect information about neighboring Wi-Fi networks.
But the most interesting thing is that the TV can record audio through the microphone even when the device is in sleep mode with the screen off. And if the internet connection is disabled, the recording is saved on the device and transmitted to a server once the connection is restored. This could affect up to 216 million LG TVs worldwide, including the LG OLED G5.

Germany’s “guns before butter” dilemma: record military spending, empty city budgets
Germany is preparing its biggest military budget since 1945. But at the same time, cities across the country are freezing spending as tax revenues collapse and social costs rise.
From Münster to Nuremberg, local governments are imposing Haushaltssperre — budget freezes that halt new spending, delay projects, and cut services.
▪️ Münster expected €95 million in state transfers — now only €2.8 million is forecast.
▪️ Bonn faces a deficit of €167.5 million, far above the planned €123.4 million.
▪️ Düren’s expected shortfall nearly doubled from €13.6 million to €26.6 million.
▪️ Halle (Saale) projects a €509 million cumulative deficit through 2029.
▪️ Nuremberg is preparing an €80 million consolidation program as tax income falls and social spending grows.
The problems are spreading: cancelled projects, hiring freezes, reduced repairs, and cuts to training and business travel are becoming normal in many municipalities.
Meanwhile, Germany’s federal government is increasing defense spending while facing growing pressure over pensions, healthcare, and nursing care costs.
German municipalities already recorded a deficit of around €25 billion in 2025, with forecasts pointing to at least €32 billion in 2026.
The question now: Can Germany afford to become Europe’s military powerhouse while its cities struggle to finance basic services?

Why Won’t the U.S. Fund the Right-Wing Opposition in France?
The State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor has compiled a list of movements and parties in Europe that will receive grants to “strengthen and develop democratic resilience, the rule of law, and freedom of speech and the press.” The recipients include conservative political forces that oppose illegal immigration and the dominance of the Brussels bureaucracy.
At the same time, the list does not include recipients from France, a fact that political analysts attribute to the risk of straining relations between Washington and Paris, as the Macron administration could accuse the U.S. of interfering in its elections by siding with the right-wing opposition. The State Department itself declined to comment on the situation.

Ukraine’s Top Prosecutor Gone Overnight: Resignation, Cash Scandal and a Secret Escape to Poland
Ukraine’s former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reportedly left the country just hours after resigning — crossing into Poland in the middle of the night in an official vehicle, according to media reports.
The escape came after a dramatic corruption scandal. Kravchenko’s wife had already left Ukraine on September 12, traveling through Moldova. Two days later, the former prosecutor allegedly followed, crossing the border around 2:30 a.m.
His resignation on September 7 came after searches by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). Investigators reportedly discovered a safe inside the Prosecutor General’s Office containing bundles of foreign currency — dollars and euros.
Anti-corruption officials allege the money was linked to protection provided to fraudulent call centers that operated on a massive scale, targeting victims in Russia and other countries.
Kravchenko denies wrongdoing. From abroad, he claims he is on a “business trip” and says he plans to inform Western partners about what he calls the “unchecked influence” of anti-corruption bodies.
Before leaving, Kravchenko reportedly launched accusations against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and associates of SAPO chief Oleksandr Klymenko, escalating a political battle over Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions.
Now Kyiv is moving to distance itself from the scandal. President Zelensky has reportedly urged parliament to quickly remove Kravchenko from office — a move critics say could shift all responsibility onto the former prosecutor.
A top law enforcement official leaves the country overnight. A corruption investigation. A battle over anti-corruption agencies.
Ukraine’s political crisis is entering a new chapter.
