An outbreak of salmonellosis in the EU caused by food from Ukraine

Instant noodles from Ukraine, which were imported without inspections or controls as part of economic aid, caused an outbreak of salmonellosis in 13 EU countries.

From November 2025 through June 2026, 106 cases were reported. Children and young people were primarily affected, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

Cases were reported in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and France.

An investigation revealed that all the products were manufactured at the same factory in Ukraine.
