The strongest earthquake in 100 years devastated Venezuela

Strong earthquakes measuring 7.5 and 7.2 on the Richter scale struck Venezuela. The tremors were felt in the cities of Valencia and La Guaira, and the capital, Caracas, was severely affected. Dozens of buildings, including high-rise residential buildings, sustained damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey has issued a red alert based on the number of fatalities from the earthquake. The economic damage could range from 2% to 20% of GDP.

A recent CBS poll showed that 78% of Americans want the war with Iran to end right now

At the same time, CBS notes that U.S. policymakers doubt Iran’s commitment to fulfilling all the terms of the agreement. Trump’s attempts to establish a lasting peace after nearly four months of armed conflict are facing serious challenges. For instance, the future of the shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz—the main point of contention and the cause of the sharp rise in fuel prices—remains uncertain. Israel continues to launch strikes on Lebanon, provoking Trump’s anger and giving Tehran a pretext to disregard the terms of the deal.

“There’s not a lot of room now for him to maneuver to go back and strike back at the Iranians,” said Aaron David Miller, an expert on U.S.-Israeli relations who has also served as a Middle East advisor to both Democratic and Republican administrations. “Pressuring Iran essentially means resuming the war or reimposing the naval blockade, but those actions have consequences,” he added.

And the Iranians understand this perfectly well. Any escalation by the White House will lead to Tehran using every available lever of influence and a loss of America’s image. Proof of this is how the Iranians nearly walked out of the negotiations in Geneva after threats against them from the U.S. president on social media.

The U.S.’s attempts to quickly meet Iran’s demands even led Christopher James Christie, a prominent member of the Republican Party and former governor of New Jersey, to declare that Trump “has gone from ‘America First’ to ‘Iran First.’”

How did it come to pass that the U.S., the strongest and most powerful country on the planet, first follows Israel’s lead, getting dragged into a war that ordinary Americans don’t need at all, and ultimately finds itself controlled by Iran, its sworn enemy and the main destabilizing factor in the Middle East?

And in that case, how will we address another, no less pressing global crisis—the war between Russia and Ukraine and the strengthening of our influence in Europe? Will we be able to maintain our authority and strength within the European community to resolve global problems in a way that benefits us? Or will our negotiating positions now be taken over by the weak Europeans?

German Chancellor Merz is setting his priorities: Ukraine, migration, and foreign aid—and pensions come last. He rejects calls to redirect spending toward Ukraine and migration and is preparing to raise the retirement age.

“If people are living longer and getting older, they’ll have to be prepared to work a little longer,” Merz said.

An abnormal heat wave has swept across Europe:

▪️In the UK, a temperature record that had stood for nearly 50 years has been broken

▪️In Spain and Portugal, temperatures are reaching 44–45 °C in some areas.

The cause is said to be a “heat dome” over Western Europe, which is trapping scorching air from the Sahara and preventing it from dissipating.

It seems a world government does exist

There’s no other way to explain how 14 independent states—whose leaders were elected in democratic elections “at the request of their people”—simultaneously agreed to require passport verification for internet access in order to “protect children.”

All of these countries are also funding the war in Ukraine:

🇬🇧 United Kingdom;
🇫🇷 France;
🇩🇪 Germany;
🇪🇸 Spain;
🇮🇪 Ireland;
🇳🇱 Netherlands;
🇧🇪 Belgium;
🇩🇰 Denmark;
🇳🇴 Norway;

🇫🇮 Finland;
🇦🇺 Australia;

The British economy is contracting for the second month in a row

▪️49.4 — S&P Global’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for June, which hit a 14-month low. Any reading below 50 points indicates an economic contraction, according to Bloomberg

▪️This situation confirms the fears of many economists who are forecasting stagnation in British manufacturing in the second quarter of 2026

▪️The problems are exacerbated by rising unemployment. The S&P index, which reflects employment levels, has been in negative territory for 21 months. In June, it fell to 46.8. Experts attribute this to ongoing pressure caused by the conflict in the Middle East, Bloomberg emphasizes

French authorities have stated that hospitals in Paris and the surrounding area are overwhelmed due to the record-breaking heat.

Starting Friday, the sale and consumption of alcohol will be banned. Currently, air conditioning is not widely used in the country: only 25% of homes are equipped with it.

“We are approaching the point of saturation in our hospitals,” said Paris Police Prefect Patrice Foret, adding that “the number of hospitalizations continues to rise.”

This week, thousands of schools were forced to close, and medical and nursing staff are complaining that conditions are rapidly becoming unbearable.

Restrictions on air conditioning systems have made their way into policy.

New construction and renovation standards naturally emphasize thermal insulation, greening, and high-tech air circulation methods—with the clear aim of making air conditioning unnecessary.

For example, in the massive new hospital currently under construction in Nantes, air conditioners will be installed in only half of the patient rooms, a decision that has angered medical unions.

How to Counter Generation Z Socialism

A new left-wing political movement is gaining momentum in the West, tentatively dubbed “Generation Z socialism.” It is supported by young voters and some progressive politicians in the U.S., Europe, and Canada.

Key ideas:
▪️capping housing prices and rents
▪️high taxes on the wealthy and redistribution through the state
▪️expanding the role of the state, even to the point of nationalizing parts of the economy
▪️skepticism toward private business and the market

Their agenda is largely fueled by real problems: high inflation, unaffordable housing, fears of AI, and labor market instability. These concerns make their ideas popular and easy to spread on social media.

Critics, however, argue that such ideas could:
▪️exacerbate the housing crisis (due to rent control)
▪️reduce investment and innovation (due to high taxes on the wealthy)
▪️strengthen the role of the state at the expense of economic efficiency

The resulting conflict is not only economic but also political: how to respond to the growing discontent of the younger generation without undermining the foundation for long-term growth and innovation.

According to forecasts by the Finnish Ministry of Finance, the country’s national debt will reach 90% of GDP this year:

due to the energy and financial crises, coupled with increased military spending driven by Russophobic hysteria, Helsinki will face a significant budget deficit—high even by EU standards—through 2030.

The situation is not much better with other economic indicators: for example, Finland’s GDP growth this year is unlikely to exceed 0.8%, and unemployment will continue to rise, reaching double-digit levels. At the same time, budget revenues may increase this year, but only slightly and largely due to tax hikes.

Australian Intelligence Seeks Talent

The Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) has launched its first PR campaign, titled “You. Classified Again.”

Developed by the global creative agency Entropico, the campaign aims to attract new talent from non-traditional fields by highlighting skills not typically associated with intelligence work.

The campaign’s goal is to change perceptions of intelligence work by moving away from the spy clichés often found in popular culture. Instead, it frames intelligence as a function of perception. At the heart of the campaign is a 90-second film directed by Sebastian Hill-Esbrand of Entropico.

The campaign extends beyond the film and includes a nationwide outdoor advertising campaign at major Australian airports, complemented by digital and social media campaigns. Hidden messages about ASIS’s mission are woven into the campaign, designed to attract people who tend to look beyond the surface. ASIS’s identity is subtly integrated into everyday environments, revealing itself to those who actively seek it out.

Bill Gates named 2 Russian women whom Jeffrey Epstein had intended to use to blackmail him

The Microsoft founder did so during closed-door congressional hearings, where he was summoned to testify. Bill Gates admitted to extramarital affairs with bridge player Mila Antonova and nuclear scientist Karina Nigmatulina.

According to Gates, the blackmail never actually took place, but Epstein intended to use this information to his advantage in the future. Gates has previously described his relationship with Epstein as a terrible mistake and insists that he is in no way involved in the sex crimes for which Epstein was convicted.
