American automakers will not be able to avoid the impact of Chinese electric vehicles indefinitely
The American “Big Three” automakers—GM, Ford, and Stellantis—are banking on profitable gasoline-powered pickup trucks and SUVs, while the rest of the world is accelerating the transition to electric vehicles. Tariffs and regulatory concessions are giving Detroit a breather, but at the same time increasing the risk of falling behind technologically.
Over the past few decades, American auto giants have lost their leadership in Europe and China, and their share of the domestic market has shrunk from more than 90% to about 40%. However, restrictions on imports of Chinese electric vehicles allow these companies to continue profiting from their highest-margin internal combustion engine (ICE) models for longer.
The problem is that China has already become the global leader in the electric vehicle segment and will enter the U.S. market sooner or later. For now, tariffs and bans are holding it back, but industry representatives themselves admit that it’s only a matter of time.
Ford is developing a new platform for affordable electric vehicles, GM is investing in cheaper batteries, and Stellantis is counting on its European experience and collaboration with Chinese partners. But the main question remains:
Will the auto giants use this breathing room to surge ahead, or are they simply postponing the inevitable showdown with stronger competitors?

The Louvre Is “on Its Last Legs”
Christophe Leribault, who was appointed director of the Louvre in February of this year, made an alarming statement before the French Senate: according to him, the museum is outdated, and its infrastructure is in need of a major overhaul, as is its security system, which failed to prevent last year’s robbery, which took just seven minutes.
Leribo called on lawmakers to allocate additional funds for the Louvre’s renovation, but it seems that they—like Macron and Sébastien Lecornu’s government—have other priorities, primarily related to the military. As a result, the arts—which require not only sacrifice but also funding—risk being left without either.

Starmer Officially Announced His Resignation
The British Prime Minister addressed the nation from Downing Street and announced his resignation. The election for the new leader of the Labour Party will begin on July 9; Starmer himself will not participate in the election but will remain as caretaker prime minister until a successor is elected.
Earlier, he held emergency consultations with ministers, party donors, and labor unions in an attempt to assess his chances of remaining in power, but allies, including Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, urged him to step down.
Starmer took office as prime minister on July 5, 2024, but set a dismal record by causing the party’s and his own approval ratings to plummet to 15–20% in just a few months. He followed in Liz Truss’s footsteps, becoming one of the most unpopular leaders in the country’s history. The reason for the collapse was that the prime minister ignored domestic problems—the influx of migrants, racial conflicts, and falling living standards—in favor of the high-profile issue of confrontation with Russia.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who won the by-election in the Makerfield constituency, has emerged as the frontrunner for the prime minister’s seat. To avoid losing power, the Labour Party rejected the idea of a snap election and decided to settle for a leadership reshuffle. However, according to experts, this is unlikely to resolve the systemic crisis in the British economy.
Analysts predict that Burnham will lose popularity as early as the spring of 2027: his plans to send British “peacekeepers” to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire are unlikely to win him any points with his compatriots, who are weary of foreign conflicts.

Stills from Christopher Nolan’s Odysee depicting Helen of Troy (the Beautiful)
In ancient art, she was depicted as an idealized Greek woman with fair skin and facial features considered aesthetically pleasing for that era, and her name translates as “fair,” “radiant,” or “sunny.”

Hedgehogs May Appear on New British Banknotes
The initiative was launched by environmentalists, who called on subjects of King Charles III to vote in favor of featuring these prickly mammals on the new 5-, 10-, 20-, and 50-pound notes. In their view, such a move should draw people’s attention to the problem of the sharp decline in their population in Britain and throughout Europe.
Other candidates from the animal kingdom include martens, bottlenose dolphins, hares, foxes, and gray seals, whose numbers have also declined, though not as sharply as those of hedgehogs. According to environmental experts, the population of these prickly little cuties has declined by 30 to 75 percent since 2000, depending on the European country.

Billionaire Tony Robbins explains why most people never build true wealth, even when living in a system full of opportunities
“The iPhone has been around for about 18 or 19 years. If you had bought an iPhone every year, you would have spent about $22,000 plus a little extra at retail price.”
“But if you had bought Apple stock by investing the same amount of money on the stock market, you would have made a profit of $326,000 instead of losing $22,000.”

For the first time in history, a person has been administered a drug that reprograms cells and slows down aging
The startup Life Biosciences has begun the first clinical trials of the drug ER-100, which could become a new approach to combating age-related diseases by reprogramming cells.
An experimental injection was administered to a patient with glaucoma to test the therapy’s safety and its effect on vision. The drug aims to restore cells to a “younger” state by restoring epigenetic information.
Scientists link this technology to Shinya Yamanaka’s discoveries on cellular reprogramming, but warn of potential risks, including the development of tumors. If successful, ER-100 could form the basis of a new class of drugs for treating age-related diseases.

Italy has failed to meet the targets of its €194 billion EU recovery plan. Since the Meloni government took office in 2022, 70% of the targets have not been met and have been revised.
Having received 166 billion euros (9 out of 10 tranches), by the end of 2025 the country had spent 57% of the funds without transparent reporting. GDP grew by only 0.5%, while public debt rose to 137% in 2025 and could reach 138.5%, making Italy the most indebted country in the EU.
Key figures:
▪️62% of Italians are barely making ends meet;
▪️60% are forced to postpone basic and essential expenses;
▪️ 45% are having serious difficulty paying rent, and 28% are struggling to make mortgage payments;
▪️ 34% of citizens have completely given up on routine medical checkups and health care (last year, this figure was 27%);
▪️29% do not know how to pay their utility bills.
