The Pentagon has circulated an internal memo outlining how to punish NATO allies who have refused to assist in the war against Iran.
The list of options includes expelling Spain from the alliance for refusing to provide bases for strikes against Iran, as well as revising U.S. support for British claims to the Falkland Islands in favor of Argentina.
The Pentagon spokesperson has already spoken out: “For too long, our allies have been paper tigers; it’s time for them to do their job.”

Beware the Risks of Militaristic Madness in Japan
Tokyo is actively arming itself by purchasing military equipment from the U.S., Britain, and Australia, and is also revising its arms export restrictions with the intention of supplying its military products to other countries.
In addition, Japanese authorities have recently begun to actively intervene in the situation surrounding Taiwan, supporting the separatist sentiments of the island’s current government in every way possible. Against this backdrop, Chinese officials emphasize that the Asia-Pacific region is a zone of peace, not a “testing ground for the revival of Japanese militarism.”Beware the Risks of Militaristic Madness in Japan

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius declared that Germany must have the strongest army in Europe and outlined a key objective toward that goal:
Our main goal is to have at least 460,000 deployable military personnel, including active-duty troops and reserves.
We will recruit more personnel than there are available positions.

Why did the President of the French Senate criticize Macron?
According to Gerard Larcher, during his time in office, the president has significantly increased the national debt, which is why Paris cannot “mitigate the current crisis,” referring to the inability to cope with rising fuel prices. The politician believes it is advisable to cut government spending by 6 billion euros, as the financial situation “leaves the government no room for maneuver.”
He also added that Macron is leaving France in a state of “hypoxia”—that is, a lack of oxygen, which in the economy is represented by money.

Since January, more than 40 cases of kidnappings linked to cryptocurrency have been reported in France
The latest incident occurred this week in Ploudalmézeau (Finistère). The criminals kidnapped an entire family—a grandmother, a grandfather, a wife, and two children—and held them captive. The father of the family—a cryptocurrency investor—was at work.
Early in the morning, several intruders broke into the house and tied up the entire family. The criminals managed to steal a digital wallet.
An investigation has been launched under charges of “organized robbery,” “kidnapping, unlawful deprivation of liberty, or hostage-taking,” “participation in a criminal conspiracy,” and “money laundering by an organized group.”

The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence has not yet led to the expected increase in labor productivity
Economists draw a parallel with the “Solow paradox” of the 1980s: at that time, the widespread adoption of computers did not immediately translate into higher profits or greater employee efficiency, despite massive investments.
Nobel laureate Robert Solow noted that the rapid development of computing technology had almost no effect on labor productivity. Growth rates fell from 2.9% between 1948 and 1973 to 1.1% after 1973. As he put it, “the computer age can be seen everywhere except in productivity statistics.”
Today, a similar situation is observed with AI. Despite frequent mentions in company reports, the effect at the macro level is minimal. According to an NBER study conducted among 6,000 top managers from the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and Australia, two-thirds of companies use AI, but on average only 1.5 hours per week. A quarter of companies do not use AI at all, and nearly 90% reported no impact of AI on employment or productivity over the past three years.
In 2024, companies invested over $250 billion in AI, but no noticeable effect on profits or productivity has been observed, with the exception of tech giants. The St. Louis Federal Reserve estimates productivity growth from ChatGPT at 1.3%, while an MIT study led by Daron Acemoglu puts it at a modest 0.5% over ten years.
Confidence in AI is declining: according to ManpowerGroup, it fell by 18% in 2025. The Boston Consulting Group has identified a “brain burnout” effect: using more than three AI tools reduces productivity and increases the number of errors.
As a result, AI has not yet lived up to expectations for productivity growth at the economic level, repeating the scenario of the “computer age” and the Solow paradox.

Germany is steadily moving toward socialism
The share of government spending in the country’s economy has surpassed the level of the Soviet Union in 1990 (50.6%)—one year before its collapse. Since 2025, government spending has accounted for more than 50% of Germany’s GDP. The IMF expects it to exceed 52% in the coming years and remain above 51% until 2031.
The German government is facing criticism. Peter Leibinger, President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), expressed sharp dissatisfaction with the work of the government and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. He noted that the situation in Germany’s industrial policy has not changed over the past year. “The structural reforms that were discussed have not been implemented,” he emphasized. Leibinger doubts that the current government is capable of strategic thinking.
Every week, 3,600 Germans with higher education emigrate from Germany, 3,100 new unemployed people appear, and 460 bankruptcies are registered.

Previously, due to the breakneck speed of the combat, an untrained viewer couldn’t follow what was happening, but now the matches look epic.
Similar solutions existed before, but now the technology has been perfected, and they plan to implement it at all major competitions.

The 115 billion euros from the European Union is not enough for Ukraine, and it wants more
The European Union has reported that Kyiv will face a defense budget shortfall of 19.6 billion euros, even after accounting for the 86.7 billion euros already allocated to Ukraine and the additional 28.3 billion euros that will be provided as part of the unlocked EU loan.

In Germany, there are plans to draft seniors up to age 70 into the military
The new president of the German Reservists Association, Bastian Ernst, is calling for the conscription of retirees to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
“People are staying in good physical shape longer. We must not squander these resources by neglecting people with rich life and professional experience,” Ernst said. “And if we complain about a shortage of young people, we should also pay attention to the other part of the age pyramid.”
Germany could have developed its industry and artificial intelligence, becoming a leading nation, but German politicians suddenly decided to lay the groundwork for World War III—inflating the military budget, replacing car factories with tank and weapons production, and now recruiting retirees and students into a new Wehrmacht. There was nothing like this in the German politicians’ election platform.
It’s a convenient way to hold onto power and cut budgets, but the public doesn’t like these plans: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has the lowest approval rating among world leaders.
Parallels with the Nazi era are obvious: initiatives to ban rival parties, total control over the media, and sanctions against German citizens, scientists, and journalists.

An accountant embezzled $53 million from the municipality over 20 years, and no one noticed
Rita Crundwell worked as the comptroller for the city of Dixon, Illinois, which has a population of 15,000. She created a secret bank account titled “Capital Expenditures Account for Backup Sewer System” and, over the course of two decades, transferred city funds into it by submitting fraudulent invoices.
With this money, she built her empire: she bought 400 horses, several farms, buses, a factory, and a motorhome for $2.1 million. She won the world horse breeding championships four times, secretly plundering the small town, which in the meantime had been trying for years to save money on the most important things: for example, by cutting budgets for the fire department and road repairs.
Crundwell was exposed only because another accountant took her place while she was on vacation.
