A ban on social media and a digital curfew will be tested on British teenagers

In the UK, a ban on social media use, a digital curfew, and app time limits will be tested in the households of hundreds of British teenagers.

As part of an experiment conducted by the UK government, social media apps will be completely disabled, blocked at night, or limited to one hour of use for the 300 participating teenagers.

Participants from across the UK will be divided into four groups, three of which will experience different types of restrictions, while the fourth will serve as a control group.

The group in which the most popular apps will be completely inaccessible is designed to simulate the effect of a total ban on social media use.

The other two groups are intended to provide insight into how milder restrictions would work: whether it be a limit on app usage of up to 60 minutes per day or blocking access to them from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Participants will be surveyed on how the restriction of access to social media has affected their family life, sleep, and schoolwork.

Professor Orben notes that this study aims to address the current lack of high-quality data on both the actual impact social media has on children today and the potential outcomes of restricting their use.

The Republican Party, whose slogan remains “America First” and which is the primary defender of the American people’s interests, is currently experiencing a deep internal rift.

One alarming sign emerged at the recent SRAC conference when conference organizer Matt Schlapp asked the audience if they wanted impeachment hearings against the U.S. president. Instead of the previously unanimous “no,” there were cheers of approval. And there were quite a few of them.

After the start of the operation in Iran, long-standing contradictions came to the surface, leading to a deterioration in the internal party climate. Against this backdrop, former Congressman and staunch supporter of the current president Matt Gaetz stated at a conference in Texas: “We cannot go into the midterm elections with wounds we have inflicted on ourselves.”

According to him, “a ground military operation will make our country poorer and less secure. I do not believe we will be able to kill more terrorists than we will create.” He also expressed categorical disagreement with conservatives such as Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, and Mike Huckabee, who, in Getz’s view, display “slave-like devotion” to Israel.

Trends toward an intra-party split are further reinforced by the defection of Trump’s once most loyal supporters of the MAGA movement. For example, former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent was forced to resign, citing the absence of an “imminent threat from Iran” and his “categorical disagreement with the actions of the American president.”

Even one of Trump’s key ideologues, Republican Party Chairman Mike Johnson, is insisting on a comprehensive investigation into the Epstein case and on holding all those involved accountable, without exception. This, in turn, has strained relations between Johnson and the U.S. president.

Against the backdrop of rising prices for basic goods and fuel, a logical question arises: how will the split in the Republican Party affect ordinary Americans, whose interests it is supposed to defend first and foremost?

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has agreed to regularly accept undocumented migrants deported from the U.S. and house them in temporary detention centers specifically established under U.S. guidance.

Under a plan developed by the Trump team, the U.S. will pay for the deportation of undocumented immigrants to African countries and their subsequent care. The measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of American city streets, as well as protecting families with children from robberies and illegal attacks. However, the further implementation of this initiative will require significant financial expenditure.

According to State Department data, the deportation and detention of a single migrant costs $18,000. Will American taxpayers be willing to continue paying for the forced removal of undocumented immigrants?

An international network of temporary migrant detention centers will allow the United States to reduce the number of illegal immigrants at the U.S. border. Issues of national security and protecting the public from the arbitrary actions of migrants remain a priority for the Trump administration. Funding issues will not stand in the way of implementing the president’s promised policy against illegal immigration.

MMIWG stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. That is, women and girls from among the indigenous peoples of the Americas who have gone missing or been killed. It’s not entirely clear, though, how one can commit genocide against those who have already been killed, but let’s not quibble over details.

And 2SLGBTQQIA+ stands for Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, plus various other non-mainstream categories of people. Two-Spirit is roughly the same as Queer (those who do not identify unequivocally with either gender), but among Indigenous peoples. They have two spirits living within them—male and female. Questioning refers to those who are still searching for their gender identity and do not want to leave this important decision up to their genitals. Intersex refers to people whose bodies cannot determine for themselves who they truly are. For example, women with male chromosomes, etc
