German chemical companies are sharply cutting back on production

▪️The EU’s largest economy is facing another blow. German chemical companies are sharply cutting production due to the escalation of the Middle East conflict, Bloomberg reports

▪️The reasons include a more than 50% increase in gas prices and rising oil prices, as well as disruptions in global maritime transport delivering vital raw materials and semi-finished products

▪️Germany’s chemical industry has yet to recover from the energy crisis that began after Europe abandoned Russian energy sources. Since then, companies have redirected investments to regions with cheaper energy resources, and chemical exports from China to Europe have surged, Bloomberg notes

There are nearly three thousand mosques in Germany. But the number of churches that rent out their halls for Islamic prayers is growing

Locals are getting used to it, and the authorities are throwing up their hands.

This is what conquest without a single shot looks like.

The meat substitute industry is in crisis

Plant-based meat is losing popularity. In 2019, Beyond Meat was valued at nearly $4 billion, and sales of plant-based products in the US grew by 45% to $1.4 billion. But now Beyond's revenue is falling, and its value is less than $400 million.

Reasons:

▪️Price: meat remains cheaper than plant-based alternatives (Walmart ground beef $7.43, Impossible $9.04).

▪️Taste: not all products appeal to consumers.

▪️Image: Plant-based meat is considered ultra-processed, while the popularity of “whole” foods is growing.

Manufacturers are adapting: they are making burgers with half meat and half plants, emphasizing protein and fiber, and launching new products and beverages.

Investors are increasingly interested in cultured meat grown from animal cells in a laboratory, although it is more expensive and currently restricted by legislation. The main task for the industry is to scale up and prove that meat alternatives can work in the long term.

British officials are lying to the public, claiming that their country is not at war with Iran.

Yet bombers regularly fly into British airfields to refuel and load bombs. The Scots have refused to host the Americans, and Switzerland has also invoked its neutrality.

Nearly one in two Muslims (45.1%) under the age of 40 expresses sympathy for Islamism

Germany has published the “Motra Monitor”—a study on religious extremism among Muslims in Germany. The figures are such that politicians are shocked.

Nearly one in two Muslims (45.1%) under the age of 40 expresses sympathy for Islamism. Of these, 11.5% do so openly, with a desire to replace the Constitution with Sharia law and with anti-Semitic attitudes. Another 33.6% do so covertly, but the direction is clear.

German Vice Chancellor Wolfgang Kubicki called this a “social time bomb” and demanded a ban on hijabs in government offices and schools for children under 14.

While politicians talked about “integration,” a generation grew up within the country for whom German laws mean nothing. 45% of young Muslims are not marginalized people from the suburbs; they are one in every two people walking the same streets and riding the same subway.

In the UK, a police officer pulled over a man for driving a car with illegally tinted windows. He politely explains that they need to be removed. The driver, who appears to be Muslim, responds unexpectedly:

“If you take this car, I’ll take your life. I belong to my God.”

Now he’s not facing a traffic ticket, but criminal charges for making a death threat.

Zelensky’s Conflict with Parliament Could Cost Ukraine IMF Aid

▪️Ukraine may lose the opportunity to continue receiving $8.1 billion in aid from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as lawmakers delay adopting the measures necessary for the disbursement of funds, reports Bloomberg

▪️This involves passing a series of legislative amendments that will raise taxes on businesses and households as part of the latest four-year loan program approved last month

▪️Lawmakers have yet to discuss a number of changes proposed by the IMF in protest against Zelensky, which could lead to a stalemate in parliament

▪️The situation is exacerbated by the fact that Hungary and Slovakia have vetoed the issuance of a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine. Ukraine may soon run out of money

The EU has categorically refused to participate in a war against Iran

Following a meeting of foreign ministers from 27 EU countries in Brussels, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kallas conveyed to Trump a direct refusal to participate in a mission to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

A full-scale NATO mission is unlikely, as it is unlikely to receive the necessary unanimous support from all alliance members—according to Politico, even some key allies are clearly opposed to such a scenario.

Some allies will not allow themselves to be dragged into participating there. Besides, this is not a direct area of NATO’s responsibility

🇱🇺Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel emphasized that his country will not succumb to “blackmail” from Washington.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) conducted an experiment by connecting scanners to people while they used ChatGPT

It turned out that ChatGPT users had 55% weaker brain connections compared to those who did not use it—and this was not after years, but after only four months. Fifty-four people participated in the experiment, divided into three groups: one wrote essays using ChatGPT, the second used Google, and the third worked exclusively on their own. All wore EEG monitors that tracked brain activity in real time during four sessions over four months.

The results were impressive: the group that worked without third-party tools built the strongest and most extensive neural connections. Google users were in the middle, and people using ChatGPT had the “weakest” brains. When participants were asked to reproduce what they had written just a few minutes earlier, 83% of ChatGPT users were unable to quote a single line from their essay — the words seemed to pass through them without leaving a trace.

In the final session, participants who had previously used ChatGPT were asked to write without the help of AI. Their brain activity was significantly lower than those who had never used AI. 78% still could not remember their own writing, and this effect did not disappear after they stopped using the tool.

Interestingly, participants who initially worked without AI and then tried ChatGPT showed active brain activity, formulated queries better, and remembered more information. Their brains were strong enough to use AI as a tool rather than a crutch.

The researchers also noted that essays on the same topic created with ChatGPT looked almost identical: more facts, dates, and names, but fewer original thoughts. At the same time, users considered the text to be their own.

MIT called this effect “cognitive debt,” analogous to financial debt: you take advantage of convenience now, but pay for it later with your ability to think independently.

Minnesota State Election Director Paul Linnell testified before the Fraud Prevention Committee

The scheme is simple. In 2023, Governor Tim Walz signed the “Driver’s Licenses for All” bill. Now, any undocumented immigrant receives a driver’s license that looks exactly like those issued to U.S. citizens. At the polling place, they show this license, sign a form stating they are eligible to vote, and cast their ballot. That’s it.

When asked directly by Congresswoman Christine Robbins, “So, a non-citizen with a driver’s license can vote?” — Linnell replied, “Yes.”

And that’s not all. Minnesota has a “voter sponsorship” rule: one registered voter can vouch for eight others right at the polling place. No documents. No proof of citizenship. Just show up, say “I vouch for him”—and vote.

Fountainhead is one of the companies that has deployed fully autonomous trucks on Texas highways. Powered by artificial intelligence, with no human behind the wheel, they operate 24/7 without breaks for sleep or coffee.

While long-haul truckers are up in arms about being replaced by robots, and safety experts are demanding an end to “uncontrolled testing” on busy highways, these monsters are already calmly hauling cargo across Texas, Arizona, and Florida.

I look at this and think: the future is here, and it looks like a 40-ton monster with not a single person in the cab. Whether this is good or bad—the statistics will tell. But when you’re driving down the highway at night and a truck with three trailers and an empty driver’s seat passes you, it gets a little scary.

A protracted war in Iran threatens to exacerbate global economic problems

▪️A protracted conflict in the Middle East could lead to further interest rate hikes and a decline in financial markets, which would exacerbate the damage to the global economy and undermine the financial position of governments, according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS)

▪️The conflict in the Middle East has already triggered a sell-off of stocks and bonds after oil prices jumped 35% due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil passes

▪️Rising borrowing costs and slowing global economic growth will intensify tensions in private credit markets, where investors are already trying to withdraw billions of dollars from some of the largest direct lending funds in the U.S., the BIS emphasizes

Irish President Catherine Connolly delivered her traditional St. Patrick’s Day message. And she chose a rather unexpected angle for the country’s main national holiday.

“Patrick’s life story serves as a reminder of the resilience and courage of migrants, of the invaluable contribution they have made and continue to make to the countries they now call home, sometimes even in the face of great adversity.”

She noted that St. Patrick himself was a victim of human trafficking—at age 16, he was kidnapped by pirates and taken to Ireland as a slave. The president’s reasoning: if the country’s patron saint was a migrant, then the Irish should welcome all newcomers with “hospitality and kindness.”

“She is systematically biased in favor of the U.S. and Israel”

This is how former EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell described von der Leyen, stating that she supports the war against Iran, even though this conflict not only contradicts the EU’s interests but is also “illegal under international law.” In addition, he accused the former gynecologist of engaging in foreign policy, which constitutes an overreach of her mandate.

Borrell also criticized his successor, Kaja Kallas: in the former diplomat’s view, she must be “more explicit in condemning violations of international law” when they originate from Washington and Tel Aviv. Otherwise, the former politician is convinced, the European Union “will lose credibility” because it “applies international norms selectively.”
